For unmanned vehicles, the obstacle position in front of the view is also necessary for collision detection. The paper is devoted to the problem that estimates the vehicle position in real world using only a single 2D image. The estimation is an ill-posed problem due to the projective transform; however, through incorporating the geometric constants in the traffic scene, we proposed a solution that calculates the position with sufficient accuracy. The contribution of the proposed method is the use of two geometric constants: the standard size of license plate and the lane-width. Observation shows that the size of license plates has limited patterns and lane-width between two adjacent lanes is usually constant. Introduction of the two constants compensates the uncertainty caused by lack of depth in the mapping between the detected license plates and its position in real world. The conducted experiments show that compared to the conventional methods, the proposed one is accurate for estimating the position.","PeriodicalId":191638,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2014 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129209677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper considers that primary user(PU) is willing to coexist with secondary users(SUs) once it is paid and its Signal to Interference-plus-Noise Ratio(SINR) is assured. Since the spectrum state is not deterministic, an 8-state continuous time Markov chain(CTMC-8) based on the scenario of 1PU and 2SUs is built to predict the reward and cost of PU in a future period. The formula of expected profit difference(EPD) between cooperative state and uncooperative state is deduced to help PU decide whether to permit the cooperation in a future period. The SINR of relay user is also assured in a way in order to prevent the cooperation from being badly affected. Simulation shows the predictions of the profit before the cooperation and after the cooperation respectively, and shows that the model can effectively help decide whether to permit the cooperation in different location distributions.","PeriodicalId":191638,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2014 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114495607","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At the UCC, goods are consolidated based on their destinations prior to their deliveries into the city centre. In many examples, the UCC owns a fleet of eco-friendly vehicles to carry out the deliveries. A carrier/shipper who buys the UCC's service hence no longer needs to enter the city centre in which time-window and vehicle-type restrictions may apply. As a result, it becomes possible to retain the use of large trucks for the economies of scale outside the city centre. Furthermore, time which would otherwise be spent in the city centre can then be used to deliver more orders. With possibly tighter regulation and thinning profit margin in near future, requests for the use of the UCC's service shall become more and more common. In [1], the authors proposed a profit-maximizing auction mechanism for the use of the UCC's last-mile delivery service. In this paper, we extend that work with the idea of a rolling horizon to give bidders greater flexibility in competing for the UCC's resources in advance. In particular, it addresses the challenge that many shippers/carriers plan their deliveries many weeks ahead, and simultaneously allows last-minute bidders to compete for the UCC's resources.","PeriodicalId":191638,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2014 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116698069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the deficiency of depth information, reconstructing human pose from a single image or image sequences is still a difficult and challenging task. In this paper, we present an annealed particle filter algorithm based on reprojection error to recover the 3D configuration of human upper body, with the annotated joints' position in the image. In addition, we make simplifications to the weak perspective projection, and the 7 camera parameters to be estimated are reduced to only 1. Current hospital and courier service providers' practices centre on collecting items as and when they arrive for outward journeys at the hospital. Using data from a major London hospital this study evaluates 5 different consolidation scenarios, varying the length of time an item is delayed (ranging between 30 minutes to 10 hours). Findings indicate that consolidated approaches yielded reductions in vehicle numbers, between 116 and 258, compared to the current model of operation, but that the current model of operation is actually more environmentally efficient, generating 0.45 to 0.83 fewer metric tonnes of CO2, than consolidated approaches.","PeriodicalId":191638,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2014 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114754858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, an accurate classification model is difficult to train for some real cases due to imbalanced samples, large fluctuating records, and overlapping class labels. For solving the above problems, in this work, we introduce a Two-Stage with Enhanced Samples (TSES) prediction framework that can balance the samples using Two-Stage classification method and increase the number of sample to make it enough for obtaining an accurate model. The proposed TSES achieves outstanding classification performance on a real case of rainfall prediction. For proving the effectiveness of TSES, we compare it with some traditional classification algorithms. The results show that it can be a promising method for the prediction problems with imbalanced data with overlapping labels.","PeriodicalId":191638,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2014 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130886351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CIP aims to help international postal operators to provide more reliable services and operations with respect to more accurately and in-time tracking and tracing postal parcels. This paper investigates the opportunities and comes up with the design of a cross-border parcel handling infrastructure. The low level infrastructure is implemented based on radio frequency identification technology for tracking parcels in international shipments. The high level infrastructure can be achieved via a generic information integration framework. The implementation of the tracking and tracing system shows the increased visibility during international e-commerce activities.","PeriodicalId":191638,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2014 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"59 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133884864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That is, business enterprises, or more generally, any actor, cannot deliver value to other actors; they can only offer a value proposition for (usually mutually) benefit. Thus compelling value propositions can establish connections and relationships among service systems, and can be developed for gaining competitive advantages. However, applied research to date suggests that relatively little is known about the related discussions carried out for and against the context of IT and electronics market such as Chinese Zhongguancun market viewed through the lens of service-dominant logic and service science. In this article, drawing on the extent service literature on the concept of value proposition and through the lens of service-dominant logic and service science, we explore and identify the focal service network initiator and the two main participating actors and the three primary pillars of the reciprocal value proposition, we further propose a conceptual value proposition model for deeply understanding of reciprocal value proposition within and among the multiple service network actors engaging with one another through the interrelated three enablers by service dialogical communications. And then, we examine its appropriateness through the two-selected case analysis in the context of Chinese electronics market such as Zhongguancun market, highlight how the three main stakeholders by joint efforts, cocreate reciprocal value propositions for their benefits, collectively and/or respectively, in accordance with service-dominant logic and service science. Finally, we conclude with gaining the new insights into value propositions, and suggest managerial implications and identify areas for future research.","PeriodicalId":191638,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2014 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"221 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131332236","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
