This approach is based on the equiripple error criterion. The notch filter design problem is transformed into an equivalent constrained optimization problem. The filter coefficients vector is defined and a suitable objective function is introduced. Two numerical examples are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed method. A comparison with the least-squared design is also included.","PeriodicalId":191423,"journal":{"name":"EUROCON 2007 - The International Conference on \"Computer as a Tool\"","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129458155","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the first stage, the original (full) system is taken as one block, i.e., centralized LFC system. In a second stage, it is decomposed into subsystems using the overlapping decentralization technique to obtain decentralized LFC system. Output feedback controllers are then designed, for both centralized and decentralized LFC, using the mixed H<sub>∞</sub>/H<sub>2</sub> that is solved using linear matrix inequalities (LMI) technique. The role of H<sub>∞</sub> is to minimize the disturbance effect on the output represented by the area frequencies whereas H<sub>2</sub> is used to improve the transients in the tie-line powers. Pole-placement technique is used in conjunction with H<sub>∞</sub> and H<sub>2</sub> to place the system poles in a desired region. The separate effects of H<sub>∞</sub> , H<sub>2</sub> besides the mixed H<sub>∞</sub>/H<sub>2</sub> together with pole-placement on the system response are carried out for comparison purposes. The effects of the main design parameter of the mixed H<sub>∞</sub>/H<sub>2</sub> technique with shifted poles in the complex s-plane are investigated and the results are discussed The system performance is analyzed through simulating severe disturbances and wide parameters variation in the presence on the system inherent nonlinearity. In both centralized and decentralized cases, the system with the designed robust controllers incorporated is found to fulfill the main LFC requirements.","PeriodicalId":191423,"journal":{"name":"EUROCON 2007 - The International Conference on \"Computer as a Tool\"","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129488173","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such system called also as adjustable speed generating system is a modern technique that has great number of advantages over conventional synchronous generator driven with constant speed. In the adjustable speed generating system the prime mover drives a permanent magnet generator producing variable frequency and amplitude AC voltage. The variable voltage is conditioned by an AC/AC power electronic converter providing high quality multiphase AC sinusoidal voltage. The decoupling of the speed of the generator and output voltage frequency provides new way for optimizing prime mover like reducing of rated power, weight, emission and size and other optimization activities. In such generating systems prime mover speed control strategy is very important subject of investigation. The paper shows methods of control speed in stand alone adjustable speed generating systems. The paper presents performance of variable speed generating system according to implemented methods of speed control. The generating system was also equipped with additional controlled energy storage system made from supercapacitor bank. Energy provided by the supercapacitors allows to achieve good performance of the generating system during transient states. A simulation tests preliminary verifier developed methods of speed control, whereas presented laboratory tests results of the variable speed generating system with/without supercapacitor controlled energy storage system validates quality of the output voltage during transient states caused by steps of load.","PeriodicalId":191423,"journal":{"name":"EUROCON 2007 - The International Conference on \"Computer as a Tool\"","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129903878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although technology makes the collection of data easy, their protection against abuse is left to data protection legislation. However, the privacy requirements, other than being general and abstract terms to be regarded as legislature issues, should be brought down in the technological reality and carefully accounted for in devising technical solutions. In order to limit the disclosure and avoid the misuse of personal data, this paper discusses an architectural proposal for a middleware system that will enforce protection of user privacy through technical means. This goal is facilitated by a combination of a policy framework, a sensible interpretation of regulations into policies and the introduction of a privacy broker, named the discreet box.","PeriodicalId":191423,"journal":{"name":"EUROCON 2007 - The International Conference on \"Computer as a Tool\"","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128212068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, the mathematical concept of moments has been used for many years in pattern recognition and image processing. We present a new discovered family of splines, named fractional B-splines which we used as mother wavelet functions. The resulted fractional B-spline wavelets constitute a part of the features vector used in our ruttier obstacle classification system. We compared different recognition rates obtained by the use of different mother wavelet functions, but in order to improve the recognition rates, we added first order statistics features and the seven moments of Hu. The artificial vision systems was developed having as model the human system, and therefore the objects recognition task is reduced to a classification using features extracted from images. In our case, the features vector is formed by wavelet transform of fractional B-splines and seven statistics features, followed by the seven moments of Hu.","PeriodicalId":191423,"journal":{"name":"EUROCON 2007 - The International Conference on \"Computer as a Tool\"","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127375744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
