It's well known that it can cause many failures during work of such systems, even total break downs. In such case, the studies of radiation hardness of electronic devices should take place to avoid problems during the lifetime of the experiment. This article describes the idea of a universal modular system, which is under development at Warsaw Univeristy of Technology, to perform radiation experiments of various types of electronic devices. This procedure enables control of a motor using the high resolution performance counter with accuracy exceeding 1 microsecond on most hardware of PC and the algorithm for motion control not have any additional hardware for motion control such as PCI motion control card. The procedure for control of trapezoidal motion is explained in detail here for acceleration, constant speed and deceleration processes written in Visual C++. The frequency variation range of pulses from the parallel port is from 0 to 40 kHz under Windows XP and every period of pulses is controlled according to a given acceleration or speed value. Iris Biometrics for personal identification is based on capturing an eye photograph and obtaining a feature vector that allows to identify a human being. Sometimes these images are not good enough due to a variety of reasons: e.g. out of focus, iris covered by eyelashes or eyelids, etc. It is very important to know if an image has enough quality before applying the feature extraction algorithms, in order to avoid bad results and/or save processing power. Impedance measurements were taken by using the load modulation method. This instrumentation has been developed around a VXI system stand which controls electronic cards. Software under HPVEEreg was developed for automatic measurements and layout. The theoretical result obtained by a simulation under PSPICEreg consolidates us in the possibility of obtaining correct and exploitable results. The experimental results are preliminary results on a 12 V vehicle battery (Impedance measurements on a PEMFC are in progress). The similitude in the graph form and in order of magnitude of the values obtained (both theoretical and practical) enables us to validate our instrumentation. Step-by-step design procedure of the converter is outlined. The three-phase resonant inverter, operated in 180deg conduction mode, maintains lagging power factor, ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) operation for the entire load range. A 2500 W, 255 V single-phase ac-to-dc resonant converter is designed and simulated using PSPICE to verify its performance. Output power is controlled by varying switching frequency of high frequency (HF) three-phase bridge inverter. This converter has high input power factor with no active control of input line current, requires narrow variation in switching frequency and less filtering. Based on this converter a novel UPS scheme is designed and fabricated. We verify the possibility of applying good local optimization method (quasi-Newton - QN) and a robust global optimization method (evolutionary algorithm - EA).
