The Social Impact Theory developed by latene (1981) guided the study. Mixed methods approach under convergent design was adopted. Target population were139 teachers, 10 head of schools and 10 school board chair persons. Purposive, Simple random and stratified random sampling technique were used to obtain 52 respondents whereby 40 are teachers, 4 are head of schools and 4 are School Board Chairpersons. Instruments of data collection were questionnaires, interview guide and document analysis schedule. Validity of the research instruments was refined through the comments from experts in research, researchers’ supervisors and researcher’s fellow students while reliability of questionnaire for teachers was measured by Cronbach Alpha and for the reliability of qualitative data triangulation will be used. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequencies, means whereas patterns and themes were developed for the analysis of qualitative data and then independent T – test was used to test the null hypothesis. The study found that FFE policy had caused decrease in students’ enrolment in private secondary schools hence shortage of funds the results of which were hindering the implementation of various school projects. Also, the school administrators were having hard time in solving various challenges facing their schools due to insufficient funds received from school fees due to decrease in the number of students. This study concludes that the FFE policy has negatively affected the enrolment rates in private secondary schools in Rombo district which in turn has affected day to day schools’ operations. Consequently, this study put forward the following recommendations for immediate effect and for further studies, management in Private Secondary schools should come up with practical survival strategies to ensure effectiveness in education delivery and the government should provide subsidies to the private secondary schools in order to cut for high running costs.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"45 5-6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122910213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was a summative evaluation which was guided by Context, Input, Process and Product model (CIPP) developed by Daniel Stufflebeam in 1971. Convergent design under mixed research was adopted whereby qualitative and quantitative data were collected at the same time and analyzed separately. The targeted population for the study included 4 schools, 4 heads teachers,72 teachers,783 students, a project manager and 48 school committee members hence the total of 908 participants. Probability and non-probability sampling were used in selecting respondents. The instruments for data collection were questionnaire, interview guide, focus group discussion and document analysis guide. The reliability of quantitative instruments was established through Cronbach Alpha; (r = 0.608 for teachers’ questionnaire and r = 0.653 for students’ questionnaire) while the reliability for the qualitative data was established through triangulation of data. Quantitative data was coded and analyzed using percentages and frequencies through statistical Package of Social Science Version 26 and presented in tables. Qualitative data was analyzed by coding contents into themes and presented in narrative form and direct quotations from respondents. Findings shows the positive response from teachers, head teachers, students and community members that project employed training, group discussions, presentation and initiation of child protection clubs in targeted primary schools. However, the findings show that the strategies employed did not managed to cover large number of teachers, students and community members in project activities conducted. The study concluded that strategies employed by CSSC child protection project in ensuring violence free learning environment in targeted primary schools were training, group discussions, presentation and formation of child protection clubs which were not able to ensure that a large number of teachers, students and community members to were involved. Study recommended that project owner should train more teachers, students, and community members to ensure adequate number of teachers, students and community members are involved in project activities.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122160529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Guided by Resource Dependency Theory, the study adopted the embedded model of convergent design under a mixed research approach for concurrent data collection and analysis. Probability and non-probability sampling techniques were used to obtain 36 Heads of Schools (HOSs), 360 Teachers, 432 Students, and 6 District Education Officers. The quantitative data were descriptively analyzed through frequencies and percentages, and presented in tables, whereas qualitative data were transcribed and analyzed in themes emerging, and explained in words supported by verbatim quotations. The study found that inadequate knowledge and shortage of funds as initial capital were stumbling blocks that prevented the advancement and stability of SB-IGAs. The study also revealed that there was the inadequacy of land set aside and insufficient water supply that was explicitly meant for SB-IGAs in public secondary schools. The study concluded that inadequacy of land, insufficient water supply, lack of transparency, lack of motivation and inadequate funds as initiation capital are the core challenges that prevent the advancement of SB-IGAs and thus hinder financial sustainability in public secondary schools in Kilimanjaro region. Therefore, the study recommends that the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology should develop and adopt clear strategies for resolving challenges that HOSs face in managing SB-IGAs in public secondary schools in Tanzania.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114296222","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data were drawn from a self-built annotated corpus of 300 hours of recordings of storytelling (individual) and interaction (group). The oral proficiency for lexical sophistication is measured utilising moving-average morphological richness (MAMR) and mean size of paradigm. The syntactic complexity is measured by mean dependency distance (MDD). Self-written computer programme scripts are used to compute the MAMR, moving-average mean size of paradigm (MAMSP), and MDD. The findings indicate that in both storytelling and interaction, Turkish Japanese learners present a close picture regarding the degree of freedom of MAMR, MAMSP, and MDD to the oral data of native Japanese. This study, therefore, contends that L1 mother tongue morpho-syntactically affects later language acquisition. Moreover, the dependency distance (DD) that attributes the most tokens in interaction is nearly half that of the DD in storytelling, confirming the Principle of Least Effort (Zipf 1949) that human action tends to lighten the processing load. Furthermore, the MDD-frequency relationship in the Turkish oral data demonstrates a good fitting result for three models, that is, Harris, Dacey, and Kelly.","PeriodicalId":189190,"journal":{"name":"international journal of Education, Learning and Development","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128413043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
