Objective: The aim of this study was implementation of a mathematics study in learning related to island communities’ context in Maluku. Methods: This study used methods of exploration, documentation and literature study. Findings: Many local communities in the Maluku did not realize that all selling activities, handicraft, or woven are included in mathematics in the form of fractions or geometry. Conclusion: this study concluded that the activities of selling, weaving and crafting in the community display fraction and geometry patterns Keywords: Ethnomatematics, island indigenous peoples, fractions, geometry. Abstrak: Kajian Etnomatematika Dalam Masyarakat Adat Kepulauan di Provinsi Maluku, Indonesia . Tujuan: Implementasi kajian matematika dalam pembelajaran berkaitan dengan konteks masyarakat kepulauan di Maluku . Metode: Metode eksplorasi, dokumentasi dan studi literatur. , Temuan: Banyak masyarakat lokal di Maluku yang lokal yang tidak menyadari bahwa seluruh aktivitas jualan, tenunan maupun kerajinan atau anyaman masuk dalam bentuk matematik berupa pecahan maupun geometri . Kesimpulan: Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa aktivitas jualan, tenun, dan kerajinan masyarakat menampilkan pola pecahan dan geometri. Objectives: This study aims to analyze students’ perceptions of interactive teaching using Poll-Everywhere application as a useful teaching methodology. Methods: Strategic Lecturers enter questions using the Poll-Everywhere application. Students’ perceptions of interactive teaching that effectively uses this technology are statistically evaluated using a questionnaire. Findings: The level of student academic ability increased significantly between the two sections for Reading III Test (M = 89.74, SD = 3.26), and Reading V ( M = 90.42, SD = 3.91). Conclusions: Students consider it a useful method for giving real feedback, which encourages their performance and participation. Lecturers regard Poll-Everywhere as an effective teaching innovation that encourages deeper information storage and as an effective teaching aid in monitoring student progress and identifying shortcomings. Abstrak: Persepsi siswa tentang manfaat teknologi polling seluler dalam pengajaran dan pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi: Implikasi dari partisipasi mahasiswa dan kinerja akademik. Tujuan: Studi ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi mahasiswa tentang pengajaran interaktif menggunakan aplikasi Poll-Everywhere sebagai metodologi pengajaran yang berguna. Metode: Strategis Dosen memasukkan pertanyaan menggunakan aplikasi Poll-Everywhere. Persepsi mahasiswa tentang pengajaran interaktif yang efektif menggunakan teknologi ini dievaluasi secara statistik menggunakan kuesioner. Temuan: Tingkat kemampuan akademik mahasiswa meningkat secara signifikan antara dua bagian untuk Tes Membaca III (M = 89,74, SD = 3.26), dan Membaca V (M = 90.42, SD = 3.91). Kesimpulan: Mahasiswa menganggapnya sebagai metode yang berguna untuk memberikan umpan balik nyata, yang mendorong kinerja dan partisipasi mereka. Dosen menganggap Poll-Everywhere sebagai inovasi pengajaran yang efektif yang mendorong penyimpanan informasi yang lebih dalam dan sebagai alat bantu pengajaran yang efektif dalam memantau kemajuan siswa dan mengidentifikasi kekurangan. Objectives: This study aims to find out the implementation profile of primary teacher’s forum in East Sumba, Indonesia which consisted of the existence, organization, management, and its impact based on teacher’s perception. Method: This study is a quantitative descriptive study using a combination research method. Data were collected using questionnaires and interviews. The sampling technique used in this study was cluster sampling, which consisted of 748 primary teachers. Findings: Teacher’s forum in East Sumba has been formed at about 10 years and workplan has been arranged before. The activities always hold in every semester. Directly monitoring is always done by supervisor in every meeting. Conclusion: Teacher’s forum in East Sumba has been work properly and give significant to improve teacher profesionalism. Kata kunci: Primary teacher’s forum, teacher profesionalism, Indonesia. Abstrak: Implementasi Kelompok Kerja Guru (KKG) SD dan Dampaknya berdasarkan Persepsi Guru. Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui profil pelaksanaan Kelompok Kerja Guru ( KKG ) SD di kabupaten Sumba Timur yang meliputi keberadaan, penyelenggaraan, pengelolaan , serta dampak implikasi dari pelaksanaan KKG tersebut. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kombinasi . Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuisioner dan wawancara. Teknik sampling yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah cluster sampling, dengan melibatkan 748 guru sekolah dasar. Temuan: KKG tingkat SD di kabupaten Sumba Timur telah terbentuk selama sepuluh tahun terakhir dan p rogram kerja telah disusun oleh penguru s dengan baik. Kegiatan dilakukan tiap semester dengan melibatkan guru-guru mata pelajaran sebagai pesertanya. Monitoring secara langsung dilakukan oleh pengawas dan melalui laporan kepada dinas pendidikan kota di setiap akhir kegiatan . Kesimpulan: KKG di kabupaten Sumba Timur telah berjalan dengan baik dan memberikan manf aa t positif yakni meningkatkan profesionalitas guru . Objectives: The purpose of this study is to develop a more dynamic learning media by utilizing technology in the form of applications on smartphone devices to improve student learning outcomes. Methods: This study uses research and development methods with data collection techniques in the form of questionnaires, feasibility tests and effectiveness of mobile learning applications developed as learning media through stages designed according to the ADDHIE model. Findings: Product development in the form of mobile learning applications is feasible as a learning medium and effective for improving student learning outcomes with an increase in the average value of 28 students from 57.32 to 81.43. Conclusion: Mobile learning application is a good choice as a learning media. Keywords: Learning media, mobile learning application, research and development Abstrak: Pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis aplikasi mobile learning. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran yang lebih dinamis dengan memanfaatkan teknologi dalam bentuk aplikasi pada perangkat smartphone untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Metode: penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan dengan teknik pengumpulan data dalam bentuk kuesioner, tes kelayakan dan efektivitasi aplikasi pembelajaran mobile yang dikembangkan sebagai media pembelajaran melalui tahapan yang dirancang sesuai dengan model ADDHIE. Temuan: Pengembangan produk dalam bentuk aplikasi pembelajaran mobile layak sebagai media pembelajaran dan efektif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dengan peningkatan nilai rata-rata 28 siswa dari 57,32 menjadi 81,43. Kesimpulan: Aplikasi pembelajar mobile merupakan pilihan yang baik sebagai media pembelajaran. Objectives: This study aims to determine the role of soft skills in teacher professional development. Methods: This study used a survey method for a number of Social Sciences Education teachers in junior high schools. Data was collected using a questionnaire regarding teacher identity and soft skill instruments as a result of development that had been expertly tested and small group tests according to the Borg and Galls design. Findings: There was a significant relationship between age and the quality of soft skills scores (r = -0.292, p < 0.05.). In line with that, a negative correlation was also obtained between age and personal attributes (r = -0.287, p < 0.05. Conclusions: Soft skills tended to decrease for teachers as they grew older, the soft skills the teachers had differed in terms of rank and class and Soft skills were closely related to teacher professional development. Keywords: S oft skills, social demography, professionalism . Abstrak: Soft Skill dalam Perspektif Pengembangan Profesi Guru. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran soft skill dalam pengembangan profesional guru. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei untuk sejumlah guru Pendidikan Ilmu Sosial di sekolah menengah pertama. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner tentang identitas guru dan instrumen soft skill sebagai hasil pengembangan yang telah diuji secara ahli dan tes kelompok kecil sesuai dengan desain Borg dan Galls. Temuan: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara usia dan kualitas skor soft skill (r = -0.292, p <0,05.). Sejalan dengan itu, korelasi negatif juga diperoleh antara usia dan atribut pribadi (r = -0,287, p <0,05. Kesimpulan: S oft skill cenderung menurun untuk guru seiring bertambahnya usia mereka, soft skill yang dimiliki guru berbeda dalam hal peringkat dan kelas dan Soft skill berhubungan erat dengan pengembangan profesional guru. Tujuan: Penelitian ini pada dasarnya bertujuan untuk meningkatkan strategi pedagogis guru muda dengan menggunakan peran model pembelajaran kompetensi global. Metode: Data yang digunakan untuk melamar misionaris muda yang ingin mempersiapkan sebagai guru di Papua dan Kalimantan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan triangulasi data (observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi). Temuan: Penerapan model pembelajaran kompetensi global dalam proses belajar mengajar menjadikan g uru yunior juga akan lebih fokus pada proses pedagogis dan kompetensi professional . Selanjutnya, keterampilan kognitif baru yang diberikan untuk memperkaya strategi pedagogis guru dapat tercapai dengan baik. Kesimpulan: Dengan model pembelajaran yang kreatif dan kreatif, mereka akan merasa terlibat aktif dan akan lebih komunikatif dan interaktif dalam mengalami setiap kegiatan proses belajar-mengajar. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of TAI learning medol on students' ability to solve problems. Methods: The research method uses a quantitative approach with experimental research design. The research subjects involved 83 students of grade VIII at SMP Negeri 10 Tegal. Findings: The results of the proportion test on students using the TAI instructional strategies show that z count > z table (1.833 > 1.64), while the MANOVA test results show λ count F table (8.63 > 2.76). Conclusions: The TAI instructional strategies is effective in improving problem solving skills, learning effectiveness, and mathematics learning achievement of students. Tujuan: Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengetahui tingkat keefektifan medol pembelajaran TAI terhadap kemampuan pemecahan mahasalah peserta didik. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitian eksperimen. Subjek penelitian melibatkan 83 peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 10 Tegal. Temuan: Hasil uji proporsi pada peserta didik dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran TAI menunjukkan bahwa z hitung > z tabel (1,833 > 1,64), sedangkan hasil uji MANOVA menunjukkan hitung tabel (8,63 > 2,76). Kesimpulan: strategi TAI efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecaha masalah, Keefektifan belajar, dan prestasi belajar matematika peserta didik. Objectives: This quasi-experiment study aims to determine the effectiveness of Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) instructional strategies assisted by Geogebra graphical software to improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities. Method: By cluster random sampling techniques, 66 students in grade VIII at SMPN 1 Wundulako were selected as sample. Data collection was carried out using pretest and posttest by applying problem solving test instrument, observation, and learning implementation questionnaire. The data analysis was carried out with descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings: The Tukey test results showed that the significance value was 0.005 (α <0.05) with the average scores of the experimental and control classes 80.42 and 76.03. Conclusion: TAI strategy with graphical software is more effective in improving the mathematical problem solving ability than conventional learning. Abstrak: Implementasi Model Pembelajaran Team Assisted Individualization Berbantukan Perangkat Lunak Geogebra Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa. Tujuan: P enelitian quasi-experiment ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas strategi pembelajaran Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) berbantukan perangkat lunak Geogebra untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Metode: Sebanyak 66 sampel siswa SMP kelas VIII di Kecamatan Wundulako terpilih berdasarkan cluster random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan pretest dan posttest dengan menerapkan instrume tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah, lembar observasi aktivitas dan keterlaksanaan pembalajaran. Analisis hasil penelitian dilakukan dengan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Temuan: Hasil uji Tukey menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi adalah 0.005 (α <0.05) dengan skor rata-rata kelas eksperimen dan kontrol berturut-turut adalah 80.42 dan 76.03. Kesimpulan: S trategi pembelajaran TAI dengan bantuan software grafis lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional. {"title":"Teachers’ Classroom Practice to Develop Students English Writing Skills at Primary Level of Bangladesh","authors":"M. M. Objectives: The present qualitative study investigates teachers’ classroom practice to develop primary level students English writing skills in Bangladesh, India. Methods: Five-government primary school and five teachers were chosen conveniently from each school in Dhaka. Randomly three English classes of each teacher were chosen to observe their teaching-learning practice. The study used a lesson observation protocol and interview protocols as an instrument of data collection. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically. Findings: The study explored that teachers’ current practice does not help students to develop their writing skill at all. Teachers used traditional teaching-learning methods emphasizing students’ rote learning and used Bangla as a medium of instruction. The study also found teachers’ challenges like large class size, extra workload, lack of teaching aids etc. in developing students writing skill at the elementary level. Conclusions: These findings can inform the teachers as well as o relevant stakeholders in making necessary changes in the present condition of English classroom practice at primary schools of Bangladesh. Keywords: Teacher classroom practice, english writing skills, primary students, Bangladesh. Abstrak: Praktik kelas guru untuk mengembangkan keterampilan Bahasa Inggris bagi siswa SD di Bangladesh. Tujuan: Penelitian kualitatif ini menyelidiki praktik kelas guru untuk mengembangkan keterampilan menulis Bahasa Inggris siswa sekolah dasar di Bangladesh, India. Metode: Lima sekolah dasar negeri, lima guru dipilih dari setiap sekolah di Dhaka dan tiga kelas bahasa Inggris dari masing-masing guru dipilih secara acak untuk mengamati praktik belajar-mengajar mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen observasi pelajaran dan wawancara sebagai bahan untuk analisis kualitatif. Temuan: Guru menggunakan metode belajar-mengajar tradisional yang menekankan pembelajaran hafalan siswa dan menggunakan Bangla sebagai media pengajaran. Studi ini juga menemukan beberapa tantangan guru seperti ukuran kelas yang besar, beban kerja ekstra, kurangnya alat bantu mengajar dan sebagainya dalam mengembangkan keterampilan menulis siswa di tingkat dasar. Kesimpulan: Praktik mengajar guru saat ini tidak membantu siswa untuk mengembangkan keterampilan menulis mereka sama sekali. Diperlukan upaya bersama terutama para guru dan juga para pemangku kepentingan pendidikan dalam membuat perubahan kondisi belajar Bahasa Inggris saat ini di sekolah-sekolah dasar di Bangladesh. Objectives: This study aims to examine the social effects of problem solving skills on optimism and coping strategies in 120 high school students in Bandar Lampung City. Methods: A comparative or ex-post causal causal study with data collection using conventional survey techniques. The research instrument was adapted from 5-Lickert scale of social problem solving inventory-revised (SPSI-R). The data of this study were analyzed using ANOVA test and multiple linear regression. Findings: Multiple linear regression test for social problem solving skills–optimism and social problem solving skills-coping strategy have sig value 0.760 and 0.000, respectively. Conclusions: Social problem solving skills did not affect optimism, but directly affected students' coping strategies Keywords: social problem solving skill, optimism, coping strategy, secondary school students Abstrak: Pengaruh keterampilan pemecahan masalah sosial terhadap strategi coping dan optimisme siswa SMA di Kota Bandar Lampung, Indonesia . Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh keterampilan pemecahan masalah sosial terhadap optimisme dan strategi coping pada 120 orang siswa SMA di Kota Bandar Lampung. Metode: Penelitian kausal komperatif atau ex-post facto dengan pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik survei konvensional. Instrumen penelitian diadaptasi dari 5-Lickert scale of social problem solving inventory-revised (SPSI-R). Data penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan uji anova dan regresi linier berganda. Temuan: Uji regresi berganda untuk keterampilan pemecahan masalah sosial-optimisme dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah sosial-strategi coping memiliki nilai signifikansi 0,760 dan 0,000 . Kesimpulan: Keterampilan pemecahan masalah sosial tidak mempengaruhi optimisme, namun berpengaruh secara langsung terhadap strategi coping siswa.
