The so called \"distributed system for induction motors diagnostics\" has been developed at our University. The pilot version of this system is installed in one of the Polish power plants. This system consists of three layers: devices, network and management. As device and network layers we propose a tele-measuring system (TMS). This TMS supporting management layer which include diagnostic services (DS) is located in a specialized diagnostic center (SDC). As for data transmission via TMS, the Internet and the Ethernet networks are used as inexpensive reliable links, as it is more cost efficient to provide a remote the maintenance of the DS. The detailed TMS design is described in this article.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124587278","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, these faults may be categorized as partial failure or catastrophic faults. One may note that most partial faults can eventually result in a permanent lack of service. The present digest deals with a class of failures which may happen in the rotor of a turbo-generator. These faults include electrical failures in the Held n inding and mechanical faults in the form of dynamic eccentricity. Since the electromechanical conversion of energy is closely related to magnetic response of the machine any alteration of the excitation and geometry will result in detectable changes in stator quantities such as no-load voltage. The present digest is based on a detailed analysis of the electromagnetic response of a two pole turbo generator under various types of rotor faults. In the first step existence of detectable time-domain signatures have been investigated. Next, uniqueness of these signatures is studied. In the last part, a systematic method for just-in-time detection and classification of various rotor faults has been developed. Finite element analysis has been used for this study.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"15 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114031965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ratio of the fifth harmonic upper sideband on the seventh harmonic and the ratio of the seventh harmonic lower sideband on the fifth harmonic seem to be good broken bar indicators, largely independent on load conditions and drive inertia, and with sufficient rejection to frequency variations. We remember that classical indicators used in MCSA (such us the ratio of the first harmonic lower sideband on the first harmonic) depend heavily on those conditions. The relationship between the new fault indicators and the number of broken bars is quite linear, too. Harmonic current side-band based indicators (HCSBIs) have been previously derived by the authors from the multi-phase symmetrical component theory (MPSCT). Results of broken bar tests conducted on an experimental cage motor with variable fault gravity and load level have been reported and commented in this paper, for HCSBIs performance evaluation about fault severity assessment in case of broken bars.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116791813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method can, beside the detection of the fault itself, recognize and categorize the fault types. In a first step, the magnetic and capacitive couplings of the armature single components are analyzed. Thereafter, the position-dependent impedance curves of healthy and faulty armatures are obtained by measurements and used for the detection of winding faults. Taking as criteria the main resonant points of the frequency and position dependent armature impedance curve, a diagnostic method that considers three different fault types is developed.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125291438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nowadays, signature analysis of measurable currents of machine windings is the most permissible way to characterize and to compare various faulty conditions. Most often, spectral analysis is applied, so it really important to predict spectra of faulty machines directly from the mathematical model. This paper discusses a methodology, which enables qualitative and quantitative analysis of faulty machines directly in a frequency domain, focusing on both the advantages and the disadvantages of such approach.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"749 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122971675","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is well known that vibration tests enable discrimination between good and faulty products and hence the analysis of the vibration signals can be used for quality control of household appliances on the production lines. Laser Doppler Vibrometry (LDV) is now an established technique for vibration measurements in industrial applications where non-contact operations are essential. Despite the advantages of the LDV, speckle noise occurs when rough surfaces are measured and the object is moving. Therefore, spike removal is a crucial point for a reliable system of mechanical defects detection. This paper deals with the integration of pattern recognition techniques into an automatic test system for data acquisition and classification, in order to detect mechanical faults of washing machines (WM) in the production line. In particular, as the electrical motor is one of the most critical part of the assembled system, the goal is to detect the faults related to the motor by the use of a Laser Doppler Vibrometer pointing the tub of the washing machine. First, data acquisition and its problems are introduced. Then, the adopted pre-processing techniques for speckle noise reduction is illustrated. Finally, feature extraction and real examples are shown to test the system.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127492732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this application the stator windings are directly connected to the grid, whereas a converter, which controls the rotor currents by means of a field oriented control (FOC) scheme, supplies the rotor. The aim of this paper is to introduce a new diagnostic technique based on the analysis of the rotor inverter output voltages. In particular it will be shown that the frequency analysis of these signals leads to an effective diagnostic procedure. The presented system is suitable to be easily plugged in any existing FOC-DFIM drive system.","PeriodicalId":185737,"journal":{"name":"2007 IEEE International Symposium on Diagnostics for Electric Machines, Power Electronics and Drives","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133578898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
