The authors analyzed data collected by SEADE in 1996 and 2001 in 2,278 organizations of different industrial sectors, and conducted a review of the relevant literature, to provide the necessary conceptual basis in order to refine and compare data, correlating both Innovation and TQM activities, and company growth. The research tools used were the statistical technique of multiple regression and correlation analysis. The results indicate that TQM and Innovation efforts have significant influence on the growth of companies. Dubeux, Hélène Bertrand","doi":"10.5585/RAI.V6I2.366","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5585/RAI.V6I2.366","url":null,"abstract":"Neste estudo empirico, apresenta-se a concepcao de um projeto de capacitacao docente para o uso de tecnologia no ambiente de ensino-aprendizagem em uma escola de administracao de uma Instituicao de Ensino Superior (IES), no Rio de Janeiro, com o intuito de difundir o e-learning como uma inovacao dentro da organizacao. Inicialmente apresenta-se a trajetoria da educacao a distância (EAD) na IES, desde a sua implantacao ate o momento atual, e as causas que motivaram a proposta do projeto. Dentro do escopo do projeto o objetivo e preparar os docentes para a inovacao (e-learning) e identificar possiveis elementos que atuarao no processo como Champions (ROGERS, 1995), ou seja, como multiplicadores e responsaveis pela catequizacao do e-learning dentro da organizacao. Nessa etapa do projeto (1a fase), mapeou-se o posicionamento dos docentes em relacao ao que pensam sobre o uso de tecnologia no ambiente de ensino. Os dados foram gerados por meio de debates em foruns de discussao e analisados pelo metodo de analise de conteudo. Ficou explicito que os docentes participantes do programa identificaram a necessidade de inovacao no ambiente de ensino e para tal desejam infraestrutura e reconhecem a importância do apoio institucional. The variables of the organizational characteristics have involved: organizational structure, philosophy and values, and policies and human resources systems; the variables of space for creativity have involved: encouragement for creativity, assignment environment, organizational resources and impediments. Interviews with HR and technology managers have been held, as well as the application of a questionnaire to 51 technical and administrative collaborators. This is a descriptive research, using quantitative approach, done through data collection, based on a questionnaire sent to the coordinators of 377 Brazilian Incubators, which was answered by 37 of them. The results of the research makes evident, besides the programs made available by the incubators, the location and business area of the incubators, the development level of the incubated companies, the requirements for enterprises installation in the incubators and a synthesis of the easy and difficult points of the companies in different incubation phases. Emmendoerfer, Douglas Luis Três","doi":"10.5585/RAI.V6I1.245","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5585/RAI.V6I1.245","url":null,"abstract":"The number of micro and small brazilian enterprises has already outreached 5,5 million of establishments, which correspond to 20% of the gross national product- GNP, 1,4% of the exportations, 43% of the income and 60% of formal employment. The percentage of companies that survive, for at least 2 years, changed from 50,6%, in 2002, to 78% ,in 2005, in other words, a raise of 27,4%. The current article has as a goal to comprehend and analyse the reasons that lead to the failure or to the success of the MSEs, especially those with up to five years of constitution. For that, the article has been structured in four phases. In the first one, a description of the MSEs universe in Brazil was realized. In the second phase a literature’s review about planning, decision-taking and innovation of the MSEs. In the third phase, proceeded a quality nature research, descriptive and exploring, and the data was obtained through a bibliographic and documentary review. In the fourth and last phase, the study’s results are presented. The main result indicate that the entrepreneurs are innovating in themanagement process. They are more aware of questions such as planning, financial analysis and qualities of internal staffs. Concerning the deciding process, it comes up as one of the least important areas, with around 8% of the answers. As possible contributions, the work understands that the benefits that imply the companie’s success for the society, through the significant business amount that produce, justify the necessity of studies seeking contribute to the consolidation of the same organizations. Objetivou tambem demonstrar para as empresas nao participantes desse tipo de arranjo cooperativo os beneficios que podem decorrer dessa relacao. O trabalho, de carater exploratorio, foi desenvolvido por meio de pesquisa de campo com base em aplicacao de questionario, construido com duas escalas, sobre vantagens competitivas e aliancas estrategicas, aplicado a empresas de Tecnologia da Informacao. A amostra foi composta de 121 empresas, de portes diversos, distribuidas por varios Estados do Brasil. Serra","doi":"10.5585/RAI.V6I1.288","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5585/RAI.V6I1.288","url":null,"abstract":"Much theory and research that seeks to explain why and how technology transfers occur within multinational enterprises (MNEs) actually addresses the question of how these transfers occur among cooperative subsidiaries, and relies on the assumption of inter-subsidiary cooperation. However, subsidiaries do not always cooperate. We suggest that the success of technology transfer among subsidiaries depends on the extent to which the relationships among an MNE's subsidiaries (i.e. intersubsidiary) are competitive or cooperative. Inter-subsidiary cooperation is determined by the MNE's international strategy, organizational structure, and the social relationships among subsidiaries. This dimension seeks to identify the internal performance variables for each organization subsystem, mainly those deriving from the inter-relations and inter-connections among the various subsystems, with an emphasis on the strategic choices which are most relevant to the performance improvement of the system as a whole.
