Many quality factors and aspects have been investigated to measure quality of such learning approach. In this paper, students' satisfaction and tutors' satisfaction are used as indicators to evaluate e-Learning approach used at Arab Open University. The Arab Open University (AOU) is the most popular university in Arab region that mainly use e-learning approach to deliver all its courses and programs through a Learning Management System (LMS). The evaluation is conducted in first semester of the academic year 2014 at Jordan branch; results reveal that students are satisfied on their tutors and tutorials more than their satisfaction on their courses. At the same time, tutors are satisfied with university support facilities, duties, and courses. However they found that English level of courses is not competent with students' level of English language. The aim is to contribute on development process of e-learning based on tutors and students' evaluation results.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125615205","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the restriction of data communication topology to point-to-point, limited range of communications, and the lack of IP support make Bluetooth Low Energy less attractive for Internet of Things applications. In Dec. 2014, the Bluetooth SIG standardized the Internet Protocol Support Profile to support the exchanging of IPv6 packets between devices over Bluetooth Low Energy. Still, a mesh networking protocol for multi-hop support is needed for it to overcome the limitations due to short range and restricted topology. This paper introduces Blemish, a wireless mesh network protocol which utilizes the broadcasting capability of wireless transmissions. We identify the available data payload using Bluetooth Low Energy Generic Access Profile -- Non-connectable Advertisement Data for different number of nodes and packets to send in a batch. Then we compare BLEmesh with conventional routing method and flood routing method. Our preliminary evaluation results show that the number of transmissions by BLEmesh is significantly smaller compared to its competitors for some selected network configurations, reducing the aggregated energy consumption within the mesh network.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121717501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For an autonomous, self-confident and long productive life, a good speech understanding in everyday life situations is necessary to reduce the listening effort. For this purpose, an app-based assistance system is required that makes every day acoustic scenarios more transparent by the opportunity of an interactive focusing on the preferred sound source. The key component of this assistance system is the blind source separation algorithm. Developing such an app in the context of a short-term research project with limited time and limited human time to realize this goal statement raises a lot of challenges. One of the key challenges is the porting of PC-based source separation algorithms to a mobile device without the need for native implementation, and integrating these ported algorithms into the mobile graphical user interface (GUI) app. At the same time, it raises the question about the size of the penalty paid in terms of loss in runtime performance due to such porting. This paper uses the realized porting method and provides a runtime performance benchmark that compares the PC-based algorithms to the ported algorithms. It then draws a conclusion about the practicability of the porting method proposed.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122118721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally, lightweight virtualisation solutions are beneficial for this architectural setting with smaller, but still virtualised devices to host application and platform services, and the logistics required to manage this. Containerisation is currently discussed as a lightweight virtualisation solution. In addition to having benefits over traditional virtual machines in the cloud in terms of size and flexibility, containers are specifically relevant for platform concerns typically dealt with Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) clouds such as application packaging and orchestration. For the edge cloud environment, application and service orchestration can help to manage and orchestrate applications through containers as an application packaging mechanism. We review edge cloud requirements and discuss the suitability container and cluster technology of that arise from having to facilitate applications through distributed multi-cloud platforms build from a range of networked nodes ranging from data centres to small devices, which we refer to here as edge cloud.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122120264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the Information Technology area, for example, proximity was used for analyzing user location and nearness to objects/people, and has already changed the way people interact with each other and with technology itself. In this field, the concept is becoming more important with the diffusion of IoT, the network of \"things\" connected to each other to share services and features. This paper aims at analyzing how the IoT can improve proximity interactions by developing a case study in an exhibition area (tradeshow), with the goal of enhancing participants' and exhibitors' experience. Starting from the analysis of existing works, we designed a scenario to identify IoT-enabled application features for both participants and exhibitors. We propose a modular architecture able to provide different services to all stakeholders: it offers a baseline for exhibitors who want to provide new interactive services to participants (e.g., To control some exhibited device) and some social services to participants for interacting among themselves and with exhibitors. Finally, we validate our architecture implementing the initial scenario on top of the All Joyn framework, an emerging proximity based software framework.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123595287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While these techniques are very promising in understanding business processes, their complete and efficient implementation inside the organizations is often not possible. Hence, in a way similar to what is done for most non core activities, and in particular for most ICT services, companies evaluate the possibility of outsourcing such task. However, the confidentiality of the dataset related to the business processes are often key assets for most of modern companies. Then, in order to avoid threats that might come from disclosing such information, most companies decide not to benefit from these process mining techniques. In this work, we propose a possible approach toward a complete solution which allows outsourcing of Process Mining without thwarting the confidentiality of the dataset and processes. Furthermore, we provide a prototype implementation of our proposed approach and run several experiments that confirmed the feasibility of our approach. We believe the one highlighted in this paper is an important direction to work on, in order to remove the obstacles that prevent companies to fully benefit from outsourcing process mining.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128350747","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to investigate the factors that might affect a Saudi Arabian organisation's decision to employ cloud services. In this paper we propose an integrated model that identifies the key factors that might impact on an enterprise's intention to adopt cloud technology. In order to assess the proposed model for cloud adoption, quantitative research methods were used in this study. The results of the survey reveal that only 16 factors affect cloud computing adoption. These factors are: availability, reliability, security, privacy, trust, relative advantage, compatibility, trial ability, top management support, organisation size, technological readiness, compliance with regulations, physical location, external support, industry, and culture.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132040742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because scheduling workflow applications in a distributed environment is a NP-Complete problem, meta-heuristics are introduced to solve this issue. In this paper, we propose an Energy-Aware algorithm based on Discrete Particle Swarm Optimization (DPSO) called EA-DPSO. Our aim is to minimize the make span (i.e., Overall completion time) of all the tasks within the workflow while optimizing energy consumption. The experimental results show that energy consumption is optimized, while the scheduling in terms of completion time is maintained.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"271 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114242261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The link probability is expressed as a function of the antenna gains installed in the nodes and the connectivity is determined as a function of the average hop count in the wireless network. We demonstrated through simulations that the link probability model proposed in this work which considers the directional gain of the antennas offers a more realistic representation of the directional transmissions compared with the traditional log-normal model in wireless ad-hoc networks with multiple hops.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114819438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
