Most of these approaches introduce simplifications and/or approximations techniques or exploit inaccurate data interpolated from the plots representing panel characteristic curves: this in order to overcome the treatment of transcendental equations or to add points for numerical fitting. Unfortunately, this leads to ineffective algorithms and inaccurate results. In this work, we propose a fast and powerful mobile application, named PV Panel Modeling, for the identification of PV panels from datasheet. PV Panel Modeling is based on a complete theoretical and practical analysis on the extraction of one-diode model parameters. In particular, the proposed procedure separates the independent parameters from the dependent ones by using suitable algebraic manipulations of the commonly used equations. Hence, it is possible to verify the open circuit, short circuit and maximum power point conditions, and to reduce the dimensions of the search space of the parameters. The application and its core are designed in order to be cross-platform and ensure high performances. Here, we propose an implementation for handheld devices based on Android operating system. Finally, the obtained results have been validated on hundreds of PV panels belonging to the California Energy Commission database.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115482819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A preventive congestion avoidance algorithm is proposed in this paper which predicts the congestion before it really happens in the network by using different statistical analysis models which analyze historical traffic data in the network with some level of certainty to predict the future traffic data. Our proposed algorithm improves the Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol (HWMP) routing protocol used in IEEE 802.11s MAC layer standard. Based on the predicted link congestion, rerouting algorithm is implemented in order to assure the load balancing and to prevent congestion over WMN network. Simulation results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms other algorithms in the literature in terms of throughput, end-to-end delay, and fairness.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121353815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The framework includes automatic discovery of M2M devices, provisioning of sensors and IoT domains, semantic reasoning on sensor data and actuation based on the suggestions. The framework integrates a lightweight version of the Machine-to-Machine Measurement framework and has been adapted for smart devices enabling them to reason on sensor data. This allows us to build cross-domain IoT applications for end users. The issues of interoperability, heterogeneity of domains and multimodality of M2M devices are handled by the semantic web technologies. The framework is integrated into one M2M architecture and its prototype implementation is also presented. The performance of the mobile application is evaluated in terms of CPU load and power consumption. Finally overall contributions and future directions are summarized.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123739656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rapidly varying, highly volatile and heterogeneous data traffic is a characteristic of the WoT. Hence, the capture, processing, storage and exchange of huge volumes of data is a key requirement in this environment. The crucial resources in the WoT are the sensing devices and the sensing data. Consequently, access control mechanisms employed in this highly dynamic and demanding environment need to be enhanced so as to reduce the end-to-end latency for capturing and exchanging data pertaining to these underlying resources. While there are many previous studies comparing the advantages and disadvantages of access control mechanisms at the algorithm level, vary few of these provide any detailed comparison the performance of these access control mechanisms when used for different data handling procedures in the context of data capture, processing and storage. This study builds on previous work on token-based access control mechanisms and presents a comparison of two different approaches used for handling sensing devices and data in the WoT. It is shown that the aggregated data submission approach is around 700% more efficient than the serial payload submission procedure in reducing the round-trip response time.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116529060","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is provided by mapping the source data models into the canonical information model. Information and semantics of data definition languages (DDL) and semantics of the operations of data manipulation languages (DML) have to be preserved by the mapping. This research is devoted to the unification of the graph data models (GDM) -- the important kind of the existing various data models. The distinguishing features of modern GDM are discussed as well as their application in the information security (IS) area. The issues of proof of DDL and DML semantics preserving by the mapping of the GDM into the object-frame canonical model are briefly considered. Future work steps in applying research results to different IS management areas are indicated in conclusion.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122500296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Use of KPIs is crucial in achieving energy efficient, green IT, implementing these metrics allows the enterprise to determine areas to improve energy efficiency, monitor that the data center operators improve the designs and processes over time, to automate the energy and cost (optimization) management and to predict and discover opportunities to repurpose and redirect energy for additional IT equipment. Such approach allows to measure current and predict and plan future power usage, so that current IT infrastructures can be optimized or new IT infrastructures can be planned to be energy efficient from the start.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"253 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114445978","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This poses a challenge to apply analytics directly to raw IoT sensor data. Such operational data requires an intensive enrichment processes to drive value. Pragmatic use of naming conventions and taxonomies can increase the quality of data and make it more interpretable. In this paper, we incorporate semantic and linked data technologies and offer a middleware called Gatica, to dynamically inject semantics to make the raw streaming data of an IoT gateway \"Rich\" on the device layer. Gatica collects the real-time sensor data, enriches them using annotations then transforms and exposes them in RDF triples, and finally streams RDF objects to the analytic endpoint for querying the linked sensor streaming data. Various analytic applications can utilize our middleware by sending SPARQL requests over the sensor network to our query interface and retrieving the results. Our middleware offers the ability to discover hidden patterns of mutually correlated variables and uncover actionable information within raw data for more utility. This paper details Gatica's architecture together with its implementation.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128421424","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this objective is challenging to achieve due to the limited capabilities of the cloudlet system which limit the number of available services on each cloudlet system. This will force different cloudlets to cooperate in order to meet the users demands for different types of services. Moreover, the cooperation will require routing of user requests from the local cloudlet to a remote cloudlet that provide the requested service using a backbone network. This cooperation will increase the total power consumption per request which will include both the user to the local cloudlet power consumption and the power consumption for routing the request to a remote cloudlet. In this paper, we address the problem of optimizing the power consumption for large scale cooperative cloudlets deployments. The evaluation of the proposed model under different realistic scenarios shows that it can be used to accurately optimize power consumption in large scale MCC systems.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114852351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Device-to-Device (D2D) communication is an emerging technology for improving cellular networks, which play a crucial role in realizing such a new IoT paradigm. Resource allocation is a key technical issue for achieving high-performance data transportation in cellular networks with D2D communications. Game theory has been applied as an effective tool for addressing the problem of resource allocation for D2D communications in cellular networks. Our previous work [1] proposed a resource allocation scheme for intercell D2D communication, which introduced location-awareness in D2D resource allocation. In this paper, we extend our previous work by particularly analyzing the situations where the game model for D2D resource allocation does not have a Nash Equilibrium within the resource constraints given by the studied system. We model the resource allocation for such situations as a cooperative game between the base stations of two cells where a pair of D2D users are located, and develop an algorithm for determining the bandwidth allocation at each station for maximizing the total utility of both stations. Such an algorithm, with integrated with the resource allocation protocol developed in [1], enables a context-aware D2D resource allocation in cellular networks that choose different strategies for different system situations.","PeriodicalId":182204,"journal":{"name":"2015 3rd International Conference on Future Internet of Things and Cloud","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128070586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
