Soiled CSP reflectors cause the efficiency of the solar field to drop. Thus, monitoring the loss of reflectance is essential to develop adequate cleaning strategies and evaluate the economics of the plants. The goal of this study is to model and predict the loss of reflectance in CSP plants. For this purpose, we modeled the loss of reflectance of second surface silvered glass mirrors exposed for 6 months in southwest Morocco using the non linear autoregressive with exogenous inputs (NARX) and Bayesian regularization. First, we adopted various architectures by varying the number of neurons in the hidden layer and adopting multiple tapped delay line. Then, we selected the optimal model based on the correlation coefficient (R) and the mean square error (MSE). The results revealed that the optimal model has 30 neurons in the hidden layer and 2 time delays, with a mean square error MSE = 0.029 and an overall Rtot= 0.62. To verify this model adequacy for the prediction of future reflectance data, we tested it on completely new data. The forecasting performance of the optimal model resulted in a mean square forecasting error of MSEƒ =0.049. Generally, the forecasted reflectance values are quite good and follow the expected soiling pattern.","PeriodicalId":180557,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122405158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Cu content of the films was found to be proportional to the [Cu2+]/[Zn2+] precursor ratio in the deposition electrolyte. Electrodeposited ZnO:Cu thin films exhibit hexagonal wurtzite structure with (002) preferred orientation. A transition from n-type to p-type was observed for ZnO:Cu films with a [Cu2+]/[Zn2+] ratio higher than 2% as inferred from the change in the direction of the photocurrent. Further, by the addition of different amounts of chlorine ions in the starting electrolyte results in an effective n-type doping of electrochemically synthesized ZnO thin films. The ratio between chlorine and zinc cations was varied between 0 and 2 while the zinc concentration in the solution was kept constant. When the concentration of chloride in the bath increases an effective n-type doping of ZnO films takes place. n-type doping is evidenced by the rise of donors concentration obtained from Mott-Schottky measurements as well as from the blue shift observed in the optical gap owing to the Burstein-Moss effect. When electrodepositing ZnO:Cu on ZnO:Cl layers a homojunction device is formed so evidencing the p- and n-type respective character of the layers. The rectifying characteristics of the ZnO:Cu/ZnO:Cl homojunction further confirm the p- and n-type behavior of ZnO:Cu and ZnO:Cl layers, respectively.","PeriodicalId":180557,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122444692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A reduction in the average forecasting error of 1% can save thousands or even millions of dirhams in an electricity generation unit. Therefore, predicting the electricity consumption is necessary to minimize costs of over or under production. The work presented in this paper aims to reduce the forecast error by focusing on the strategic level of managing electricity in Morocco. It details the actual electricity supply chain, and proposes a target one, and then it models the both, following an explained methodology, which gives us a process simulation models to be evaluated. The paper also proposes a set of indicators to be calculated in the simulation, helping thus us to compare the two supply chains.","PeriodicalId":180557,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121635456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the vertical walls has a cold portion θ = 0, while the other walls are adiabatic. This cavity simulates a living space with under floor heating and fitted with a glass door (single glass). Computations were made in two dimensions for different values of Rayleigh number in the range 5 × 106 to 108. The model uses the double populations approach to simulate hydrodynamic and thermal fields. The results are presented in terms of streamlines and isotherms, temperature profile in the middle of the cavity are, also, shown and discussed in this work. Heat transfer has been studied in terms of local Nusselt number on the walls and the average Nusselt number. This last later is correlated with Rayleigh number.","PeriodicalId":180557,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134459071","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The thin films were characterized to study their physical properties. Effects of Sulfur concentration on structural, optical and electrical properties of transparent Tin Oxide thin films were investigated in the Sulfur content range (0–10) at%. It was observed from X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD) that the films have a polycrystalline structure and the intensity of the peaks depends on the doping content. No diffraction peak related to dopants in XRD patterns along with a shift in peaks angles to SnO<inf>2</inf> proved that S ions were doped into SnO<inf>2</inf> thin films and the size of the grains has been changed from 3.7 to 4.1 nm. The aim is to ensure maximum power capture. Within this control scheme, the WECS nonlinear control affine model is transformed into the canonical form via a diffeomorphism transformation. Afterwards, a RBF neural networks based controller is built around the approximation of an ideal sliding mode controller to ensure reference tracking. In this controller the system parameters are approximated through an RBF neural network, and then these approximations are substituted into their counterparts from the ideal controller. The parameter update laws are derived based on Lyapunov synthesis. A compensation term is appended to the composite controller to ensure robustness against approximation errors. Stability and tracking properties are proved using Lyapunov analysis. A numerical simulation is carried out on a typical 3kW PMSG based wind turbine to access the effectiveness of the proposed controller. The results are then discussed to assess the effectiveness of the proposed neural networks controller.","PeriodicalId":180557,"journal":{"name":"2016 International Renewable and Sustainable Energy Conference (IRSEC)","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117259131","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
