The feasibility of such kind of WuRx was already demonstrated by using orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) signals to form the identifiers. Together with the main advantage of this approach (i.e. no base band processing needed and consequently a reduced energy consumption), one of the drawbacks is their low sensitivity. Through a set of circuit-system co-simulations, it is shown that by their characteristics, especially high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) and high out of band attenuation, FBMC signals manage to boost the sensitivity and moreover to enhance the robustness of this kind of WuRx.","PeriodicalId":170594,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114858355","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The plastic waveguide is made of Teflon (PFTE) and features an innovative design enhancing confinement and propagation robustness compared to literature. The first QPSK communication over plastic waveguide is then demonstrated at a rate of 4 Gb/s. It was even possible to perform 64QAM (12 Gb/s) by using scope direct demodulation instead of the receiver chip. Preliminary results also indicate that OFDM communication is possible as well, further highlighting the versatility of plastic waveguides and paving the way to reconfigurable wireless / wireline use cases.","PeriodicalId":170594,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132564671","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method introduces multiple discrete frequency source and setup several interleaved working bands. Because the amplitude and phase of discrete frequency sources are more easily controlled, this method is easier to realize the good focusing results in complex environment compared with the wideband continuous wave sources. By means of simulation analysis with annular antenna array, we discuss and analyze the focusing effect of this method. It has potential to be used in the field of medical and biological heating.","PeriodicalId":170594,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126071512","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of dissimilar elements was applied for bandwidth increasing purpose. The four-leaf clover geometry is chosen due to its reliable and simple design. The polar transformation makes accurate and repeatable antenna designs. The array prototype is designed for applications in wireless communication systems in the frequency band of 2.45 GHz. The Ansoft Designer® software is used for simulation design and a vector network analyzer (VNA) is used for the experimental characterization. The experimental and simulated results show good agreement. The proposed structure consists of a co-excited self-complementary rounded edge bow-tie and a half-loop antenna. The self-complementary structure avoids the use of a balun and a tuning-matching circuit over an UWB, thus reducing the overall antenna size and the associated loss. CST simulations were performed. A prototype was fabricated and measured. Lab tests demonstrated the basic antenna performance.","PeriodicalId":170594,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE Radio and Wireless Symposium (RWS)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134311328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several techniques have recently been developed to mitigate SI and enable this new modality, including the use of RF cancellers comprised of vector modulator devices. This paper introduces a wideband vector modulator prototype that operates over a 4:1 bandwidth, specifically 1.5 to 6 GHz, and was found to have 12.7 and 15.4 dB of insertion loss at 2.45 and 5.8 GHz, respectively. A novel approach for on-wafer characterization is presented and analyzed, which relies on via-hole structures and their metal pads to achieve on-chip termination with high return loss.
