This algorithm has two stages. In the first stage maximum torque is achieved with optimal currents and voltages for any given speed, resulting in high efficiency. In the second stage, in the steady state, the controller corrects itself for stator resistance variations, thereby achieving robustness in the control scheme. The direct torque control implementation eliminates the need for vector transformations and results in a quick response making it suitable for a wide variety of applications such as electric vehicles (EYs). Franco","doi":"10.1109/ISIE.2003.1267284","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ISIE.2003.1267284","url":null,"abstract":"A new PWM dc-dc converter is introduced in which large voltage step-up ratios can be achieved without high duty-cycle, with low voltage and current stress and without transformer. The proposed circuit is an extension of the boost interleaved converter, incorporating a multistage capacitor multiplier. A simple nondissipative snubber can be used reducing the reverse recovery current of the diodes and also obtaining low turn-on and turn-off losses. The modularity of the structure allows the increment of the current, voltage and power levels, using the same range of components and maintaining high efficiency, only increasing the number of series and parallel stages. The paper gives a theoretical analysis, and experimental data on a 400 W example that was built and tested: 24 Vdc input, 200 Vdc output, and 40 kHz switching frequency. The measured performance agreed well with the theoretical predictions and the measured efficiency obtained is equal to 95% at full load.","PeriodicalId":166431,"journal":{"name":"2003 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics ( Cat. This paper presents a methodology for estimating the power consumption of those filters, to allow evaluation of design alternatives for a given application. A computer aided algorithm has also been developed. The interleaving technique is applied in the power cell, providing a significant input current ripple reduction in comparison to discontinuous conduction operation. The variable to be controlled is the shaft velocity. Two H/sub /spl infin// problems are formulated and solved: (i) a 1-block problem with the view to maximizing the system performance; (ii) a 2-block problem with the weights initially chosen for maximizing both the system performance (transient response) and the system tolerance to uncertainty in the plant model (robust performance), and in the sequel the weights are modified to account for transient performance and noise attenuation. The sliding mode control was proposed to control dc/dc converters, due to the good characteristics introduced to the complete system. In order to regulate the output voltage, the sliding mode control require a current loop in order to assure the stability of the system, the inclusion of this extra loop increases the cost. Most of prior researches chose the storage capacitor depending on the selected hold-up time or the output ripple percentage. Recently, the contribution of the output capacitor to the PFC system stability is highlighted. Therefore, in this issue the design steps are discussed depending on the three choices, output ripple, hold-up time and stability. A popular approach is to inject electrical current and then from measurements of the resulting boundary voltages to reconstruct a cross-sectional image representing the distribution of materials in the vessel. In many cases the process takes place in a hazardous environment and consequently there is a need for certified safe equipment. This paper reports on the design, construction and testing of the worlds first intrinsically safe electrical tomography system. To achieve certification zener barrier diodes and intrinsically safe relay- modules provide electrical isolation from the hazardous environment. Among them, generalized predictive controller (GPC) has been proposed by Clarke, el al. Especially, since the GPC is designed based on multi-step prediction, it is well known that the GPC is effective for systems with ambiguous time-delays and/or time-variant time-delays. On the other hand, most real systems have uncertainty, and self-tuning controllers and robust controllers are proposed to cope with such uncertainties. According to the self-tuning control scheme, the stability is not necessarily guaranteed in connection with the convergence of estimated parameters. Moreover, in robust control, the control system becomes quite conservative, and tracking properties are not good. In this paper, a new design scheme of robust self-tuning 2-degree-of-freedom GPC. That is, the closed-loop controller is designed so that the robust stability is satisfied, and the pre-filter is designed to improve the transient response in an on-line manner. According to the newly proposed control scheme, the transient property for the set point response can be improved keeping the robust stability.
