The intent of the study is to understand the outlook of college students, and the brand recall of insurance companies among the young generation of India. The college students are the potential customers for insurance companies and their outlook towards insurance is very critical for the insurance players. The study uses a survey approach methodology of around 810 college students from Delhi and Mumbai to gauge their understanding level and brand preference for life insurance companies in India. Data from the study confirms that 1 % of the respondents have life insurance policies and around 2.5 % of the respondents are aware about insurance as a concept. Amongst the life insurance companies, LIC, HDFC Life, ICICI Prudential and Max Life are the top companies with the highest brand recall whereas LIC and ICICI Prudential are the companies with whom, the students are most likely to get insured with. Factors such as age, gender and education are significant determinants of overall awareness levels and brand recall. In addition, geographic location also had a significant impact on the awareness and brand recall towards insurance companies. College students in Mumbai are more aware and have a positive outlook towards insurance as compared to Delhi. It can be concluded that the awareness pertaining to insurance in India is low and even lower among the college students. The ultimate objective of HRD is to contribute to the professional well-being, motivation and pride of the employees. The Indian insurance sector is the most dynamic sector of the Indian economy both in terms of employment potential and contribution to national income. The present paper which studies the prevailing human resource development practices of life insurers in India is two dimensional. Firstly, it portrays prevailing human resource development practices of public and private life insurers in India. Secondly, it examines the job satisfaction level of marketing functionaries working in both public and private life insurance companies. The study reveals that the public and private life insurance companies have their own HRD departments which are responsible for preparing the training and development programmes for their sales force. Further, the life insurance companies train their sales force at regular intervals of time. It is suggested that attempts should be made by life insurance companies to make harmonious relationships among office staff and marketing functionaries to boost the morale of marketing personnel which results in high level of job satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":165213,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Business and Management","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120944515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An ex-post facto research design was employed. Data were collected and statistically analysis using multiple regression. Based on the empirical analysis, the study revealed that economic expectation of CRS performance do has a significant effect on stakeholder’s perception. The study also revealed that legal expectation of CRS performance do has a significant effect on stakeholder’s perception. The study further revealed that ethical expectation of CRS performance do has a significant effect on stakeholder’s perception. The study finally revealed that discretional expectation do has a significant effect on stakeholder’s perception. Conclusively, behaving in a socially responsible way normally raises the cost profile of a firm, there have been evidence, although not unchallenged, that firms that do so tend to enjoy better long run corporate performance, arising mostly from the support, friendliness and peace they often experience in their operating environment. The study therefore recommended that firms should institute proactive waste management systems and structures that ensure that the disposals of the harmful by-products in every aspect of their operations are properly handled. Such systems need not be compelled by government regulation, but should be voluntarily provided by the firms themselves. The long run benefits of avoidance of fines and penalties justify such expenditure. Corporate social responsibility projects should be provided by firms especially within and for the benefit of their host communities, especially as government has not been very successful in meeting the basic needs of most communities. Typical areas of intervention for firms in Nigeria include education, health and physical infrastructure support. Such actions ensure that a firm enjoys a positive image and good neighborliness from its host community.","PeriodicalId":165213,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Business and Management","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130887788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As regards civil society, low electricity prices carry a political and electoral appeal, and they also help governments combat problems related to inflation. Thus, these pressure groups have often created rankings to compare international rates, highlighting that Brazilian tariffs are among the highest in the world. The media has obviously published such studies, causing political embarrassment for the local governments.This article presents a comprehensive discussion of the various factors that may distort the results of comparisons. Yet, these results cannot be correctly interpreted without taking into account the peculiarities and complexities of each country, which are quite distinct from each other and prompt different costs and, consequently, different rates. This paper also discusses how the rates are affected by many factors, namely, natural resources, regulations, environmental issues, taxation, cost of capital, subsidies and incentives, the size, profile and concentration of the market, the quality and safety required, the geography and technological availability. Examples are also presented to illustrate the importance of these factors to set the rates in a specific country.","PeriodicalId":165213,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Business and Management","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123713764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Trust has been known to play a vital role in organizations but lack of supervisor integrity has led subordinates into engaging themselves in counterproductive work behaviours. Counterproductive work behaviour has increased a great cost to both the organisation and the employees. A cross sectional survey consisting 278 employees drawn from three oil firms in Port Harcourt. Data used in this study were obtained from the primary and secondary sources. Spearman’s rank order coefficient correlation was used for analysis with the aid of SPSS version 21.0. The findings revealed that there is a positive link between the dimension of supervisor trust and the measures of counterproductive work behaviour. Another finding revealed that corporate culture has a strong moderating effect on the relationship between supervisor trust and counterproductive work behaviour. Hence, supervisor trust has a positive impact on counterproductive work behaviour and that corporate culture has a strong moderating factor to influence the relationship between supervisor trust and counterproductive work behaviour. Management of oil firms should practice and encourage their supervisors/ managers to have integrity in order to reduce their rate of personal aggression behaviour (verbal abuse, sexual abuse, etc). This has a way of boosting the image of the company. Recommendations were given one of which is that corporate culture should be highly encouraged in the oil firms in Port Harcourt.
