For CIO’s and CXO’s these new technologies/software are introduced with great expectations that often go unfulfilled. That’s because 75%*of new platform/software implementations fail and the biggest reason is employees simply don’t understands its benefits & usage and results in low adoption.This study is confined to employees adoption on new software related to product lifecycle management (product conceptualization, design, develop and go to market for mass production and distributions). In this study researcher tried to gauge the adoption level of users on the digital platform/new software being used for product design & development (PLM software). It’s well established fact that success of any new software depends on not only on the power of its functionalities, features and benefits but on how the users understood the benefits, its usage and get adopted to achieve the intended objectives of higher productivity. In any transformation journey, its known fact that employees are critical determinant to ensure the success of any new software/digital platform implementation. Poor engagement of employees results in a slower speed of adoption, lower ultimate utilization and impact overall value of the investment. If an organization focus more on managing human aspect of change can help employees get engaged during the early cycle of change& adoption process and ultimately helps in reducing the learning curve and improve the benefitstoeachand every employee. Employee’s engagement is core to effective adoption. Any adoption initiative needs well planned and contextual framework to ensure engagement of employees proactively in early stage of implementation cycle to ensure adoption. In any new software/platform implementation adoption alsodepends on education to critical mass on product benefits, what’sin it for me (WIIFM), design thinking, ease of usage, top management buy-in and commitments, performance support and how employees are motivated and sustain the momentum.Any employee’s adoption on newsoftware requires2 fold approach: 1) assess and identify employees’adoption risksand mitigation proactively through various pertinent change management interventions 2) involvement of employees/users through design thinking and continuouseducation to impacted stakeholders (leaders, managers, platform champions/catalyst) about projects progress, milestones, benefits, expectations, performance support and regular feedback on platform usage and improvement.Our study indicates culture of organization, attitude, norms and perception of employees, immersive learning plays pivotal role in early and effective adoption. Explanatory research design and systematic sampling technique was used to collect data with the aid of a questionnaire from a sample size of 384 of shoppers. Reliability test of the research instrument was done by the use of Cronbach alpha. In order to test the hypotheses, and the mediation effect, bootstrapping procedure was followed by testing the direct and indirect effect. The findings shows the significant direct effect of store awareness on both store brand choice and store perceived quality. Store perceived quality was also found to significantly, positively and directly affect store brand choice. Lastly the result shows that Store perceived quality mediates the relationship between Store awareness and Store brand choice, hence providing new knowledge in research literature. Marketers have to recognize the central role of perceived product and service quality through creation of awareness strategies like having unique symbols or logos of their stores in order to be able to anticipate store royalty from customers and consequently purchase behavior.","PeriodicalId":165213,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Business and Management","volume":"138 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131688856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, the study examined the profile characteristics of the building construction project workers, examined also the nature of cost overruns in building projects execution in Nigeria, identified the main causes of cost overruns on building construction projects in Nigeria, ascertained the effects of cost overruns on building construction industry and on the economy of Nigeria, in general and determined the factors that can prevent cost overruns in public building construction projects in Nigeria. Multistage sampling technique was used to select a sample of 100 building construction project workers. Data were collected using structured questionnaire and were analysed using mean, frequency counts and percentages. Results showed that 80% of the workers were males, 54% were between the ages of 26 – 35, and 80% were married, 85% had secondary and tertiary education. The result also showed that cost overruns occur when there is an underestimation of actual cost during the budgeting of the building construction project (X = 2.19), when cost escalation occurs due to factors such as inflation (X = 2.28), when construction projects are not completed on time, within budget and with the appropriate technical or quality performance (X = 2.46), and when there is an extra cost incurred beyond the contractual cost agreed during the tender stage of the project (X = 2.23). Further, the results showed that the main causes of cost overruns in building construction projects in Nigeria include difficulty in obtaining construction materials (X = 2.19), deficiencies in prepared cost estimates (X = 2.11), unexpected subsoil conditions (X = 2.08), problems in finance and payment arrangements (X = 2.09), design changes (X = 2.72) and availability of skilled labour (X = 2.24). The results also showed that the effects of cost overruns on the building construction and on the Nigerian economy in general include added cost over and above those initialy agreed upon by the client (X = 2.40), less returns on investment on the part of the contractor (X = 2.39), higher prices to the end user (X = 2.38), tarnishing of the reputations of the professionals (X = 2.15),and loss of profits for the contractor (X = 2.40). The effects on the construction industry is project abandonment and drop in building activities (X = 2.48), and also decrease in property and service production for the nation (X = 2.45); also decrease in the rate of national growth (X = 2.10).The results also showed that the factors that can help reduced or prevent cost overruns in public building construction projects in Nigeria include the application of project management scheduling tools (X = 2.68),working strictly within the scope originally planned for a project (X = 2.60), planning projects properly before the commencement of project execution (X = 2.58), selection of contracto","PeriodicalId":165213,"journal":{"name":"IOSR Journal of Business and Management","volume":"340 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131882702","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It occupies the most strategic position in the structure of working capital of most business enterprises. It constitutes the largest component of current asset in most business enterprises. In the sphere of working capital, the efficient control of inventory has passed the most serious problem to the cement mills because about two-third of the current assets of mills are blocked in inventories. The turnover of working capital is largely governed by the turnover of inventory. Design/methodology/approach: The paper employs regression analysis to ascertain the statistical significance of the investment costs of human resource development on patients’ admission time, discharges and deaths, as surrogates for staff productivity. Findings: The study found that staff development and training costs of the Nigerian FMCs is not statistically significant to the identified clinical performance parameters. Practical implications: These findings are instructive to the managements of the FMCs as it has brought to the fore the need to review the staff training and development strategies with a view to enhancing the pay-offs in terms of clinical productivity of the FMCs.
