{"title":"Mikrotoponimy Beskidu Niskiego jako symptomy pogranicza","authors":"Robert Słabczyński","doi":"10.15584/slowo.2021.12.16","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15584/slowo.2021.12.16","url":null,"abstract":"This paper describes the microtoponyms of the south-eastern part of the Beskid Niski region, which before World War II was inhabited mainly by Lemkos and Poles. In spite of the fact that the examined area lies on the border of Poland and Slovakia, in this paper it is treated as an internal borderland, mainly between a nation (Poles) and an ethnic community that is not a nation (Lemkos). The microtoponyms collected during the research are interpreted as linguistic signs revealing phenomena and processes connected with the coexistence of groups of people who differ in language, culture and religion. In this paper selected issues concerning microtoponyms as symptoms of ethno-linguistic, religious and socio-cultural borderlands are discussed successively.","PeriodicalId":162310,"journal":{"name":"Słowo. The author also has a blog: moderncavegirl.pl, where she publishes her recipes. Instagram plays the role of promoting the blog. Due to the fact that the blog entries concern food, it will be important to determine how the author promotes her blog, what linguistic means she uses for this, how she writes about food to encourage people to reach for the recipe and make us of it. The aforementioned linguistic means or constructions can be divided into those that are used to promote a blog directly or indirectly. Direct promotion of a blog applies to those constructions that are explicit incentives to visit it or that inform the recipient that the recipe can already be found on the website. Most texts dedicated to unofficial anthroponyms suggest that descriptive nicknames do not reflect an expression, but a statement of a fact. However, the research material collected in the years 2004–2020 shows that a lot of personal sobriquets are expressive. It is because their spatial aspect is connected with a whole range of connotations that ascribe some stereotypical features to people heralding from a particular area, and such features are specified on the basis of the existing cultural contact.","PeriodicalId":162310,"journal":{"name":"Słowo. Kowalski","doi":"10.15584/slowo.2022.13.10","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15584/slowo.2022.13.10","url":null,"abstract":"The study presents the history and state of preservation of the unique collection of source materials for the old Pomeranian field and place names – Die pommersche Flurnamensammlung. Results of digitalisation carried out in recent years, as well as digital access to a part of this collection, which is currently stored in the National Museum in Szczecin, are also included. The collection of Pomeranian field and place names is based on source materials collected by teachers and regionalists in the 1920s and 1930s. The research and documentation were led by linguist and ethnologist Dr. Robert Holsten. They took on the form of a project covering the area of the then Province of Pomerania, including its division into middle-level units (German: Kreis, Polish: powiat) of local administration, which had separate name registers. The records amassed in the National Museum in Szczecin include 35 volumes from 21 administrative units and around 300 topographic maps (German: Messtischblätter). The entire collection was digitised in the period 2019–2021 and made available. Part of the collection – lists of names and accompanying maps from four administrative units – was studied with the use of geographic information systems (GIS) and published in a geoportal which was created specifically for this purpose.","PeriodicalId":162310,"journal":{"name":"Słowo. The rule of being in a word also applies to religion and especially to the relationships of man and community with God. The article analyses the fundamental role of language in the liturgy of the Catholic Church. In the author’s view the great communication act defining liturgical events consists of a series of mocro-acts: worship, prayer, thanksgiving, repentance and theological statement. {"title":"W świecie wartości moralnych – między zawiłością a prostotą","authors":"Jakub Walicki","doi":"10.15584/slowo.2019.10.14","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15584/slowo.2019.10.14","url":null,"abstract":"In the article I describe a dual nature of morality, arguing that moral actions require a constant movement between complexity and simplicity of the moral world. In the first part of the article I examine heterogeneity of the moral sphere, pointing out that it should not be simplified. I try to show why morality cannot be seen as a domain of perfect clarity and why it is usually impossible to make a firm distinction between goodness and evil. In the second part I argue that despite the difficulties, morality also requires self-confidence which can be justified. Although some moral problems are demanding, many others can be solved relatively easily. In the last part of the paper I discuss a difference between primary, spontaneous moral self-confidence, connected with simplified moral judgments, and secondary, reflective one, which comes from overcoming and controlling initial moral doubts.","PeriodicalId":162310,"journal":{"name":"Słowo.
