Granice inwencji imienniczej w Polsce – w diachronicznej perspektywie językoznawczej i prawnej

Abstract

In order to capture the boundaries mentioned in the title, the subject of description in this study were legal regulations regarding the matter of giving (changing) names that have been in force in Poland over the years, since the post-war period, the verdicts of courts that have settled disputes on names and linguists speaking on naming matters, as well as, supplementarily, conclusions flowing from the analysis of publicly available lists of names from the PESEL register and selected fragments of correspondence between the Polish Language Council and persons/institutions requesting value judgements on names.
