Three research questions guided the study. The population of this study included classwork and homework of students of 258 SS2 teachers in secondary schools in Anambra State in 2017/2018 academic session. The population comprised 258 question papers of SS2 economics teachers set in 2017/2018 academic session. Simple random sampling technique was used to draw three zones out of the six education zones in Anambra State. A sample of 30 teachers, from which 150 homework and 150 classwork exercise books of students were drawn and 30 question papers were used for the study. Two instruments were used for data collection. They were validated by three experts. Cohen’s Kappa reliability co-efficient was used to establish the reliability of the two instruments. Percentages and content analysis were used in answering the research questions. The results revealed that students’ classwork and homew5ork exercises were frequently marked and scored but not frequently corrected, also teacher-made examinations were content valid. It was recommended that teachers should be encouraged to prepare marking guide to aid giving of corrections to the students. The findings of this study contribute to knowledge in education because it provided data on the state of marking, scoring and giving of correction to students’ classwork and homework which are major tools used in SBA in secondary schools. It also revealed the extent of content validity of teacher-made examination in Economics. This will go a long way in improving SBA teacher-made examination to meet up to the standard of externally set questions.","PeriodicalId":162035,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Social Science Research","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123403139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the direct contribution of travel and tourism to world GDP in 2012 was US$ 2.1 trillion. However, the tourism sector is highly vulnerable to climate change. This is because tourism depends on environmental resources while climate defines the length and quality of tourism seasons. At the same time, tourism contributes to the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG), the cause of global warming. Many types of tourism in Zambia are weather dependent and by extension, climate dependent. It is, therefore, very likely that climate change may affect tourism sector in Zambia. Climate change can reduce, increase and prolong heat waves or change the patterns of annual rainfall received in Zambia. Using literature review, this paper presents direct impacts and indirect impacts of climate change to the tourism sector and also proposes response strategies to climate change mitigation and adaptation in the Zambian context. Responses such as mainstreaming ESD, teacher education, research engagement, community-based approach, sustainability education among others are proposed.","PeriodicalId":162035,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Social Science Research","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121304277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Intriguingly, the creator of the PIMI model has advocated for further study of the method's applicability in academic settings. To that end, this study serves as a representation of research done in a classroom context, with the overarching goal of extracting the characteristics of power, ideology, and manipulation from the pragmatic discourse of a lecturer. One of the study's participants was an English as a Foreign Language professor at a private school in Surabaya. The research was conducted by observing a class on Management without participating in it. The findings show that, with minor tweaking, the instructor displayed all PIMI Model traits, including power, ideology, and manipulation. Additional research in the field of education is needed to fully flesh out the results of this study.","PeriodicalId":162035,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Social Science Research","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121313888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study employed the descriptive survey research design, and was conducted among 14 principals, 19 teachers and 315 students who were from 14 public secondary schools. Data for the study were collected using questionnaires for teachers and students and interview schedules for school principals. The study established that the most commonly employed strategies to manage classroom discipline were Suspension, requiring deviant students to stand outside the classroom during lessons, separating deviant learners in class, and employing different instructional methods. The study concludes that, although these strategies were found to be effective in controlling student behaviour in the short term, the long-term outcomes may be detrimental to students in terms of academic achievement and future behaviour. The study recommends that teachers be trained on positive classroom behaviour management strategies that do not lead to students losing instructional time.","PeriodicalId":162035,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Education and Social Science Research","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114313450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
