The purpose of the work was to analyze the experience gained, describe the difficulties and positive aspects of the introduction of a distance education system, as well as the transition to hybrid learning. The authors present the results of a comparative analysis of the functionality of existing similar automated systems. Based on the results of the analysis, the authors systematized the requirements for automated systems for the formation of curricula. The purpose of automating the process of forming curricula is to minimize technical errors and reduce the time spent by developers, administration and other employees involved in the process of developing and coordination of curricula. The authors suggest that the stated goals will be achievable by reducing manual activities, introducing elements of electronic document management. To solve the related problems, it is proposed to use educational content presented as multimedia online courses. The development of such courses should be carried out using all the developments of modern pedagogical design and best practices of other educational institutions and organizations. The main digital competencies for which teachers were certified are presented. The results of the assessment of the formation of digital competencies of teaching staff in the Novosibirsk region and Russia are presented. Eight types of participants in the automated assessment program on a special educational platform are considered, depending on the level of proficiency in modern digital competencies. Based on the statistical data obtained, the main methodological and organizational problems of mastering the theoretical part of the course by students in the format of video lectures, the advantages and disadvantages of the \"blended learning\" technology are outlined. Numerous normative, organizational, methodological, educational documents and materials (Federal State Educational Standards of Higher Education, recommendations of Academic Methodological Associations, professional standards, educational and methodical publications, programs of disciplines, etc.) are considered. The author's experience in teaching natural sciences and special disciplines, supervising young scientists and specialists, their certification, organization of the educational process at a university, and the formation of a system of practical training at an industrial enterprise are used. The author sees obvious distortions in the current system of training engineering personnel and notes the formation of a gap between the natural science base and the “digital” competencies of an engineer.
