This condition is caused by various things such as illegal logging, encroachment, forest fires, and others. The root of the problem is the not yet realized good forest governance, so that it becomes a problem about how the current forest management policy? How to enforce environmental law on forest destruction due to illegal logging. The results of the study are firstly, in forest management through Law Number 41 of 1999 concerning Forestry and the provisions on eradicating forest destruction, can be re-established between the government and local communities, in order to place its function in the same view, the government bringing business actors can respect the system local people's lives and vice versa the community can understand the importance of development in the area and can improve the standard of living of the community; secondly, environmental law enforcement for forest destruction due to illegal logging through criminal law is a strict enforcement of the implementation of environmental laws and laws on prevention, eradication and destruction of forests that are oriented to the function of law as a means of carrying out social engineering, which includes the formulation of criminal acts, criminal liability, and sanctions.","PeriodicalId":157380,"journal":{"name":"Environmental Anthropology eJournal","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116591213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regarding railway freight in particular, one policy tool that the Commission has emphasized for this purpose is the restructuring of the rail sectors of member countries through the creation of competition for the incumbents by new train-operating companies (TOC’s) – on its face a less obvious policy choice than alternatives such as Pigouvian pricing measures or infrastructure subsidies. This paper focuses on one important commodity group – grain – in three EC member states and one non-member state – Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine – to examine the degree to which increased rail competition has been associated with increases in rail’s modal share, and more broadly to learn what appear to be the binding constraints to increases in rail’s share. Such constraints seem more closely related to shortages in infrastructure capacity than to a lack of competition among TOC’s. This suggests that other “models” of railway restructuring may be more effective in easing this constraint.","PeriodicalId":157380,"journal":{"name":"Environmental Anthropology eJournal","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127039860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiple factors—regulation, natural gas prices, renewable energy adoption, and environmental activism—have each been lauded by various stakeholders for this trend. To improve our understanding of this environmental technology transition, it is important to determine the extent to which each of these factors has accelerated coal unit retirements. We do so in this study through an accelerated failure time model that utilizes data on US coal-fired generating units from 2008 through 2016. Our findings indicate that environmental regulation, reduced volatility in natural gas prices, increased utilization of renewable capacity, and the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal campaign have all accelerated coal unit retirements. We do not, however, find evidence that natural gas price levels or the penetration of wind and solar capacity have accelerated coal unit retirements. Among the significant drivers, we estimate that the Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal campaign has had the greatest effect per unit, reducing expected operating life by an average of 24.4 months. However, among these factors, federal regulation has effected the greatest number of coal units, and thus had the greatest aggregate impact on coal retirements. In post hoc analysis, we estimate that 40% of the generation that had been provided by retired coal-fired units spilled over to surviving coal-fired units. However, the 60% that was displaced from the coal fleet resulted in a 103.6 to 178.2 million metric ton reduction in CO2 emissions each year.","PeriodicalId":157380,"journal":{"name":"Environmental Anthropology eJournal","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128827274","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present, through the full support of the Gianyar Regency Government, this village began to develop itself into a tourist village. Of the five Banjar in its territory, the Belaluan Adat Banjar area has been plotted as a tourist attraction for traditional Balinese settlements. This is based on the magnitude of the potential of the cultural sector and traditional residential architecture that is still sustainable in this Banjar area. In the process of structuring these traditional settlement attractions, the village has applied many local wisdom values, and local traditions adapted to various stages, starting from the planning process, development to the management program. The description of this phenomenon has prompted the desire to conduct a study which aims to find out the existence of local wisdom values in the process of planning, building, and managing residential attractions in the area. Graduates of hospitality management in the twenty-first century are facing an increasingly competitive and unstable employment market; thus, it is critical that they should be equipped with skills that enable them to maximize their full potential. According to Mcnair (2003), in the future, graduates will need to have greater ownership of their employable skills as well as the confidence to cope with economic upheavals in order to capitalize on career opportunities. Employable skills are those that prepare students specifically for the world of work. In common terms, they cover a range of competencies within the categories of hospitality operations skills, human resource skills, personal skills, and conceptual skills. This study relates to employers perceived of Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate skills as deemed required by need for accelerated performance levels in hospitality the businesses for fast change in the skills required of university graduates and to understand what industry needs from education and have education is accomplishing its objectives to prepare qualified graduate for the changing hospitality industry in the Philippines and it aims to determine the factor that measures the employable skills of the hotel. In the context of the findings of the study, the author concluded that the most employable skills as perceived among hotel supervisors in three departments, namely: Housekeeping Department, Front Office Department, and Food and Beverage Department were Front Office Operational Ability, Leadership skills, Communication skills, Cooperative team building, Critical thinking ability, Hands-on experience, and Strategic planning were the seven employable skills possessing a most or significant need for hotel supervisors. However, Restaurant Operational Management, Handling difficult people, Problem-solving and identification and interrelationship possess moderately crucial than their ability to perform the skills while Lodging Administration, Negotiating Skills, Computer Application and Finance and Accounting. Interestingly all four of the lowest rated employable skills in the hospitality industry are cornerstones taught, and it should still be retained because of its essential ratings among hotel supervisors.","PeriodicalId":157380,"journal":{"name":"Environmental Anthropology eJournal","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130683323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The findings further discuss the role and impact of current crop protection and insurance mechanisms- supported by the Pradhan Mantri Bima Yojana- in these identified villages, discussing limitations faced by farmers in claiming state-provided benefits. \u0000 \u0000Additionally, based on detailed interviews and conversations with each responding farmer, our observations help in understanding how aspects such as: an inter-generational transfer of knowledge about the process of farming (from one family member to another- in case of family owned farming enterprises), and existing knowledge-peer network among farmers at an intra/inter-village level (for most independent farmers), play substantive roles in both, influencing and shaping farmers decision on crop cultivation patterns at different stages. \u0000 \u0000Wheat, Rice and Onions are the three crops identified as a focal-basket for our study, owing to the geographical cropping pattern seen within the state of Haryana (as part of North India), where, wheat and rice remain (in rotation) the more ‘popularly’ sown crops and enjoy relatively higher market demand and price-based incentives (offered via government’s Minimum Support Price). The selection of Onion --- as the third crop selection-was based from observations made on farmer’s choice to cultivate more onions in recent years as part of increased 'experimentation' in cropping patterns.","PeriodicalId":157380,"journal":{"name":"Environmental Anthropology eJournal","volume":"150 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123229303","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
