Andererseits werden Themen wie Ungleichheit und Segregation seitens der Fachoffentlichkeit immer wieder mit der Vergabe von Kindertagesplatzen in Verbindung gebracht. Anhand zweier strittiger Falle von Platzvergaben sowie eigenen empirischen Datenmaterials wird im Beitrag Kitaplatzvergabe grundsatzlich problematisiert. Dabei stellt sich Platzvergabe als ein komplexes Geschehen dar, das eine Herausforderung fur administrative Ebenen ebenso wie fur Kitaleitungspersonal darstellt und zugleich das Potenzial hat, als ‚site of doing de-segregation and social justice‘ anerkannt und genutzt zu werden. However, it is rather extensively discussed as being linked to allocation processes of places in ECEC. The article’s aim is to problematise childcare place allocation procedures generally, which will be done drawing on two controversial cases of space allocation and on empirical data. Empirically grounded childcare place allocation is found to be not only a complex event but a challenge for administration as well as childcare centre managers. At the same time, its inherent potential as a ‘site of doing de-segregation and social justice’ is emphasised. Segregation in day-care centres counteracts these aims but has hardly been researched in Germany so far. We describe ethnic/linguistic and social segregation at different regional levels (federal states as well as East and West Germany more generally) using data from the Early Childhood Education and Care Quality Study in the Socio-Economic Panel (K2ID-SOEP) and the National Educational Panel Study (NEPS). We find pronounced differences in distribution patterns of ECEC settings’ composition especially between West and East Germany and discuss the research implications of our findings. Segregation in Kindertageseinrichtungen (Kitas) wirkt diesen Zielen grundsatzlich entgegen. Bislang gibt es aber fur Deutschland nur wenig empirische Erkenntnisse uber das Ausmas und mogliche Ursachen von entsprechenden Entmischungsprozessen. Die vorliegende Studie beschreibt anhand von Daten der Erhebung „Kinder und Kitas in Deutschland“ im Rahmen des Sozio-okonomischen Panels (K2ID-SOEP) und des Nationalen Bildungspanels (NEPS) das Ausmas und die Varianz der Kita-Zusammensetzung auf regionaler Ebene. Wir finden unterschiedliche Verteilungsmuster insbesondere zwischen Ost- und Westdeutschland und diskutieren die Forschungsimplikationen unserer Ergebnisse. Bislang gibt es in Deutschland allerdings wenige Studien dazu, wie Praxen des Zusammenarbeitens in den Einrichtungen situativ als doing collaboration hergestellt werden und welche Herausforderungen sich diesbezuglich fur die Beteiligten mit Blick auf die (Re-)Produktion von Ungleichheit ergeben. Aus einer praxis- und ungleichheitstheoretischen Perspektive wird anhand eines ethnographischen Fallbeispiels (Geburtstag feiern in der Kita) analysiert, wie Zusammenarbeit im Alltag von Kitas prozessiert wird und wie sich in solchen Prozessen (Nicht-)Passungen zwischen elterlichen Handlungspraxen und der organisationalen Kultur der Kita konstituieren. So far, however, there have been few studies in Germany on how parent-educator-collaboration is produced in the everyday life of day care centers and what challenges arise for those involved with regard to the (re-)production of inequality. Using an ethnographic case study (celebrating a birthday in a day care center), this article analyzes from a practical and inequality-theoretical perspective how collaboration between families and educators is processed situatively as doing collaboration and how sociocultural (mis-)matches between parental practices and the organizational culture of the day care center are constituted in such processes. Nach der Einfuhrung (Teil 1) wird das Konzept zunachst mit Blick auf Phanomene und mogliche Ursachen diskutiert (Teil 2); anschliesend theoretisch-begrifflich, bezogen auf die Konstitutionslogik von Lebensphasen und Erwachsensein (Teil 3) analysiert. Es folgen zeitdiagnostische Betrachtungen mit Blick auf Wandlungen des Erwachsenwerdens sowie der Lebensfuhrung von Jungeren und Alteren in der gegenwartigen digitalen Moderne (Teil 4) sowie ein Fazit (Teil 5). Abstract The author critically examines Arnett’s concept of ‘Emerging Adulthood’ from a youth-theoretical and contemporary diagnostic perspective. After the introduction (Part 1), the concept is first discussed with regard to phenomena and possible causes (Part 2); then it is analysed theoretically and conceptually in relation to the constitutional logic of life phases and adulthood (Part 3). This is followed by a diagnostic analysis of the changes in growing up and the lifestyle of younger and older people in the current digital modern age (Part 4) and a conclusion (Part 5).
