It is based on a swept volume technique, generating an array of voxels within a space swept out by a rotating-screen. with the help of the advanced digital light processing technique, 2-D slice images of the 3-D model are projected in rapid succession onto a helical screen spinning at a sufficiently high speed, because of the persistence of vision, the viewers' eyes integrates them into a 3-D spatial image. We have demonstrated the feasibility of our system by building a compact and modular prototype, images can consist of up to 100 millions voxels at a refresh rate of 20 Hz, and it can be viewed directly by any number of viewers from almost any direction, just as if the real 3-D objects were floating there.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120908779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We found that the grown nanowires are rode-like shape and the growth rate is independent on its diameters. It can be concluded that the nanowire was grown with main contributions from direct impingement of vapor species onto the Au-Ga droplets and with negligible contributions from adatom diffusion. The results indicate that the droplet acts as a catalyst rather than an adatom collector and size independent growth of nanowires is result from larger diameter and high supersatuation in the droplet.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123851788","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The validity of Local density approximation (LDA) and generalized gradient approximation (GGA) has been demonstrated by the calculations of lattice parameters and band-gap bowing. The results show that LDA is relatively more suitable for calculations of GaNAs alloy. The lattice constant calculated decreases in line with vegard's law in contrast to that the band gap has big composition-dependent bowing parameters. The effects of relaxed atoms and bonds have also been discussed. The relaxation contributes significantly to band-gap bowing.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125105838","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We examined the hardness of the surface layer on fused silica polished by pitch/pad polishing and MRF respectively, and the results indicate that the hardness of traditionally polished layer is smaller than bulk material, decreasing with the distance from the sample surface, while the nanohardness of MRF-manufactured sample is greater than bulk, gradually increasing to the bulk value. We attribute the differences to the unique material removal mechanism of MRF. The distinctions among these polishing techniques may make contribution to varied laser-induced breakdown topography.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132663935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, the transmission properties of the MNG-Air-ENG sandwich structure is theoretically studied and it is illustrated that, under certain condition, electromagnetic wave can efficiently transmit through the MNG-Air-ENG sandwich structure and the electric and magnetic field is interestingly localized at the interface of MNG-Air and ENG-Air respectively, Which makes the composite structure important for potential application in free-space communication and other relative fields. In addition, the transmission mechanism is also explored and the results show that the MNG-Air-ENG sandwich structure can be regarded as an air cavity resonator with single-negative metamaterial reflectors.","PeriodicalId":155352,"journal":{"name":"2010 Symposium on Photonics and Optoelectronics","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-06-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132762273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
