Nonlinear Couplers Using Long-Range Surface Plasmon Polariton Waveguides

Abstract

A detailed study of the nonlinear couplers based on Ag stripes is presented. The output characteristics of the couplers are analyzed and the switch effect is found. The LR-SPP optical switch has been investigated at , demonstrating the feasibility of LR-SPP-based all-optical switches for operation in the very broad wavelength range. The critical optical power of nonlinear optical switch is low. All the simulations in this paper were performed by using the full-vector finite-element method.
