In order to estimate the velocity of the tracked object, this algorithm fuses information captured by the vehicle's onboard sensors such as cameras and inertial motion sensors to determine the velocity and position of the object of interest in the world coordinate. However in this multiple sensor fusion based tracking system, the measurements from the same target can arrive out of sequence. This is called the \"out-of-sequence\" measurement (OOSM) problem. In this paper the 1-step-lag OOSM solution from Bar-Shalom is implemented to solve the problem. The target tracking performance with the OOSM solution is demonstrated through experimental results.","PeriodicalId":153203,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. 2005 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2005.","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128848760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a static traffic data file, a partially disjoint candidate path set is constructed prior to the trip using a heuristic link weight increment method. This method satisfies reasonable path constraints that meet the drivers' preferences as well as alternative path constraints that limit the joint failure probability for candidate paths. The characteristics of the proposed algorithm are the following: 1) the response time for online navigation demand is nearly linear with network size and less dependent on system load; 2) the veracity of the pre-trip route plan based on the static data file is improved by taking travel time reliability into account; and 3) system optimization can be approximated without sacrificing driver preferences. The algorithm is tested on randomly generated road networks and the numerical results show the efficiency of the approach.","PeriodicalId":153203,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. 2005 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2005.","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127464322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rainfall data monitored by the Japan Meteorological Agency's meso-scale network of weather stations are used. This study found that travel demand decreases during rainy days and, in particular, larger reductions occur over the weekend. The effect of rainfall on the number of accidents recorded on 10 routes on the MEX is also analysed. Statistical testing shows that the average frequency of accidents, during periods of rainfall, is significantly different from the average frequency at other times.","PeriodicalId":153203,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. 2005 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2005.","volume":"165 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117023738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem is formulated as a quadratic 0-1 optimization problem where the objective function parameters represent benefit factors that capture travel time variability along specified trips. This is a problem when most of the data is uninteresting but there are rare interesting events. As a consequence of this inbalance, the rare events are either not become well represented in the model or an undesirably large model is needed to satisfy performance measures. We present an approach to resample the data in proportion to the interestingness of the data where interestingness is defined as the multivariate stationarity of a weighted set of important variables. We present a case in modeling vehicle sensor data with the intent of modeling driver actions and traffic situations. We analyzed driving simulator data with this approach and report results where instance selection using the interestingness filtering resulted in models that correspond much better to human classification of different driving situations.","PeriodicalId":153203,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. 2005 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2005.","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128415318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in the near future, with the development and application of next generation Internet based on IPv6 and multimedia data compress techniques, the overloading problem may be even worsen that people would find them lost in the ocean of multimedia data. Urban traffic video systems for monitoring and intelligence collection is a very good example for those situations. Especially, as problems of anti-terrorism and criminal activities get more and more serious, the pubic security problem brings great challenges for governments. So in this paper, based on IPv6 and multimedia data mining techniques, a framework for global monitoring and security system is proposed. It can help people to complete work for public security and even individual security by using online multimedia data analysis and offline multimedia data mining techniques.","PeriodicalId":153203,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. 2005 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2005.","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127300414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A variety of methods and techniques have been developed to forecast traffic flow. Current nearest neighbor non-parametric traffic flow forecasting models treat the dynamic evolution of traffic flows at a given state as a memoryless process; i.e., the current state of traffic flow entirely determines the future state of traffic flow, with no dependence on the past sequences of traffic flow patterns that produced the current state (in existing nearest neighbor non-parametric models, the state includes only instantaneous conditions, not historic ones). Of course, traffic flow is not completely random in nature. There should be some patterns in which the past traffic flow repeats itself. In this paper, we have proposed a pattern recognition technique, which enables us to consider the past sequences of traffic flow patterns to predict the future state. It was found that the pattern recognition model is capable of predicting the future state of traffic flow reasonably well compared with the k-nearest neighbor non-parametric regression model. We hope that this paper is a good platform for the development of more effective nearest neighbor non-parametric regression models.","PeriodicalId":153203,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. 2005 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2005.","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129023970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

And the scheme how each vehicle acquires PN codes assigned to other is also discussed. In this paper, a common PN code is used to establish an initial communication link [Hattori, K, et al., Nov. 2000] and common code interference suppression using a successive interference cancellation scheme [Tomotaka, N et al., Nov. 1998] by estimating packet reception timing from the vehicle whose reception power is small is examined under the environment where reception power from each vehicle is different (near-far problem is existing).","PeriodicalId":153203,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings. 2005 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2005.","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127891774","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
