A problem that still remains is that, however, the factors resulted from it may not necessarily be realistically interpretable. Some constraints are usually added to the standard NMF to generate such interpretive results. In this paper, a minimum-volume constrained NMF is proposed and an efficient multiplicative update algorithm is developed based on the natural gradient optimization. The proposed method can be applied to the blind source separation (BSS) problem, a hot topic with many potential applications, especially if the sources are mutually dependent. Simulation results of BSS for images show the superiority of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":152024,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134002781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new method based on combined clustering is presented here to determine node number of hidden layer and centers of RBF neural network self-adaptively. In this paper, subtractive clustering is used to cluster the data firstly, node number and initial value of data center of RBF network are achieved, then GK fuzzy clustering algorithm is adopted to evaluate cluster validity and obtain optimum data center by estimating the shape and direction of clustering. The normalized LMS algorithm is used to tune weights. Thus, a self-adaptive RBF neural network with combined clustering algorithm is obtained. The simulation results of function approximation show that the RBF neural network designed has better approximation performance.","PeriodicalId":152024,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115569750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To deal with the class separation problem and the multimodal samples in tradition LDA method, we proposed a new local linear discriminant analysis (LLDA) method for handwritten Chinese character recognition in this paper. The algorithm operates as follows: (1) Using the clustering algorithm to find clusters for each class. (2) Finding the nearest neighbor clusters for each cluster and using cluster means in the computation of the between-class scatter in LDA while keeping the within-class scatter unchanged. (3) Finally vector normalization is applied to further improve the class separation problem. A series of experiments on HCL2000 have indicated that our method can effectively improve the recognition, the error rate reduction reaches 14.8% comparing to the traditional LDA method, showing effectiveness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":152024,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116107204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aiming at the navigational application, this paper presents an edge information based method of crater detection and matching. In detection algorithm, considering the particularity of edges, multi-scale adaptive Gaussian filtering and adaptive Canny algorithm using histogram of image are introduced into edge detection, then craters are extracted by steps of edge selection, edge pairing and ellipse fitting. Crater matching consists of the matching algorithm based on Conic-pair Affine Invariants, and the correction algorithm for false-match and mismatch situations using affine properties of close curves' area. Experiments of real lunar images show that the detection algorithm is provided with adaptive ability to different illuminations and terrains, and the matching rate of crater matching algorithm is better than 85% with less than 5% false-match.","PeriodicalId":152024,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing","volume":"62 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116362276","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These approaches are potentially very efficient for detecting and analyzing diverse ranges of faults and disturbances in chemical processes. An improved multi-scale principal component analysis (MSPCA) is proposed for polymerization process monitoring. Improved MSPCA simultaneously extracts both, cross correlation across the variable and auto-correlation within a variable. Using wavelets, the individual variable are decomposed into approximations and details at different scales. Contributions from each scale are collected in separate matrices, and a PCA model is then constructed to extract correlation at each scale. The proposed improved multi-scale method is successfully applied into fault detection of polymerization process.","PeriodicalId":152024,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116027772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tactics of concerted evolution among multiple populations is proposed aimed at the deficiency of easily plunging into a local optimal solution of SGA. Distant hybridization strategy and a new method of adaptively changing crossover rate are presented by combining the scheme of multi-population and the thought of elitist population. Considered the different range of decision variables, the new definitions of individual distance and population distance are put forward, which avoids the false distance caused by traditional hamming distance. These methods can not only ensure the independence of subpopulations, but also strengthen their cooperation, improve the use ratio of excellent genes, and enhance the global search ability of GA. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm was verified by three typical testing functions.","PeriodicalId":152024,"journal":{"name":"2010 International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-09-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116295714","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
