The research relied on the final versions of Maslow's works capturing his theory of human development and education. The ideal of raising a good, altruistic person is realized in permanent education. Education and self-education are based on B-values, and the key here is the value of self-transcendence. The realization of this and other self-realization values requires the formation of a person with an inner sense of control and upbringing and schools that educate people holistically. Kupiec","doi":"10.5604/01.3001.0016.1659","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5604/01.3001.0016.1659","url":null,"abstract":"The problem of the article is situated in the field of pedeutology and concerns specific resources of pedagogical knowledge, generating personal pedagogical theories of students preparing to perform the profession of early education teacher. The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Maria Grzegorzewska University and the celebration of the year 2022 as the Year of Maria Grzegorzewska were considered by the authors as unique opportunities to confront the thought of the patroness, her pedagogical credo contained in Letters to a Young Teacher with the reflection of contemporary young adults inspired to speak by the content of the correspondence. The direct stimulus prompting first-year preschool and early childhood pedagogy students in the 2019 and 2020 academic years to reflect on the role of the teacher was the reading of a selected Letters ...by Maria Grzegorzewska. After reading its, students wrote responses to the patroness of their university in the form of quasi-formal essays, the content of which was then analyzed to reconstruct the dominant themes. This paper presents selected results of the qualitative content analysis. The students' statements are organized according to the temporal criterion, as they report their past educational experiences, refer to the present, and also outline a vision of the anticipated role of a teacher in the future, after the stage of academic education has been completed. The main conclusions confirm the lasting vitality of pedagogical thought of the University's founder among contemporary young people. One hundred physically active men participated in the study. Health Behaviour Inventory questionnaire developed by Juczyński was used to assess health-related behavior, and the NEO-Five Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) developed by Costa and McCrae, in the Polish adaptation, was used to determine principal personality dimensions. Significant correlations between the level of health-related behavior or some kind of them and personality dimensions were observed. Two clusters (personality profiles) related to prohealthy behaviours were separated. Observed correlations between health behaviours and personality traits of physically active men confirm the validity of the research and a need for healthy behaviour education. Applying Berry's theory of acculturation, it was demonstrated that the systemic solutions concerning the education of children of a national minority in public institutions are rooted in the classical model of assimilation. In the research, I used thematic analysis. In addition, I coded the data using the inductive approach. \u0000I selected four categories of thematic threads that define the advantages of a mature teacher. The respondents described themselves not only through the prism of individual characteristics but also through various types of competencies (e.g. didactic and methodological), the ethos of the profession and the specificity of the period of life. The participants were 375 university students – education and teaching majors. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses confirmed a two-factor structure of the DESQ, with two sub-scales: (1) Openness toward the presence of death education in a school and (2) Humanistic Basis of Death Education. Reliability of both sub-scales was acceptable and they significantly correlated with measures of attitudes towards death and human-centered school education. The research was carried out on specially organised classes in the form of non-formal education with a developed curriculum. The main research method was the diagnostic survey method, in which the technique was a questionnaire and the tool was a knowledge test. It was carried out using the Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) technique. In the article, most attention is paid to the change of intellectual activity in the context of pupils' cognitive processes in the adopted categories of tasks, i.e. memory, comprehension and use of information in typical and problematic situations, the concept of which was adopted on the basis of B. An outlook on the last ten years of their scientific work","authors":"Agnieszka Piejka","doi":"10.5604/01.3001.0016.1657","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5604/01.3001.0016.1657","url":null,"abstract":"The aim of this article is to summarize the pedagogy of concern – a proposal, which Irena Wojnar described as a “programmatic theme” that delineates the areas of research she has been involved in over the last decade of her scientific work. This proposal is less well known in the educational community than the theory of education through art with which I. Wojnar has spent most of her academic career. In the meantime, it was the idea of the pedagogy of concern that organised the scientific thinking and research work of I. Wojnar in the last decade of her life. In this article, I will discuss the conceptual categories that are crucial for the pedagogy of concern. These are: concern, pedagogical concern, alternative thinking, ambivalence, culture of peace. At the end of the article I focus on the most important demands of humanistic education, which according to I. Wojnar was a result of pedagogical concern. These are indications for the formation of a so-called “soft humanity” – a sensitivity for others and for the community, an alternative and ambivalent way of thinking, an openness to being different and peaceful togetherness. The main point of reference for me are the publications of I. Wojnar, which appeared in the years 2011 – 2021, as well as the series of eleven conferences („Humanistic Alternatives”) organised by the I.
