Among the most active and competent representatives of the literary heritage in the area between the rivers Prut and Nistru from the second half of the 20th century were the literary historians Efim Levit, Eugeniu Russev, Haralambie Corbu, Pavel Zavulan, Ion Vasilenco, Lazăr Ciobanu, Vasile Ciocanu, Pavel Balmuş, researchers from the Classical literature section (today the Premodern and modern Romanian literature Section of the Institute of Romanian Philology „Bogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu”). In the memorials and travel diaries of Ion Heliade Rădulescu, Dimitrie Bolintineanu, Vasile Alecsandri et. a., the colorful, picturesque and bizarre, of the places visited, the unusual atmosphere of this universe are evoked. Contemplative, the Romanian writers expose in detail the coordinates of the oriental space – a mixture of human entities, of sumptuousness, luxury and misery. All of them still experience the feeling that they have entered a real Babylon. Metaphor intersects with comparison, metonymy, personification, synecdoche, hyperbole, irony, grotesque, etc. The rationale for identifying transference and metaphorical simile stems largely from the complexity and structural ambiguity of the meaning expressed by them. The transfer of signs from one object to another allows us to speak only of a general tendency in their identification and interpretation. However, changes in the lexicon and, in general, language development are determined by the progress of objective reality. Thus, the language must use new lexical units to constantly enrich itself and to name realities that have recently appeared in various domains of public activity (politics, economy, sports, information technologies, fashion, music, cinematography, gastronomy, cosmetology and others). In the contemporary linguistic context, the innovative changes in the Romanian language occur mainly due to interference with the English language. The influence of English on our language constitutes a topical aspect in the development of the Romanian vocabulary. The new social realities have led to an opening of the domains, this fact favoring terminological migration. As other humanistic disciplines, the Anthroponymy was established gradually, by collecting material, systematization, classification, terminology creation, refinement of the research methods and techniques. Based on the collected and systematized materials, were written and published monographs, dictionaries, guides, doctoral theses, scientific articles, were developed orthographic and transcription norms of Anthroponyms, were presented at various national and international scientific forums reports, communications and summaries. {"title":"Lexical Variation from the Perspective of Diachronic and Diatopic Dimensions in the Language of the Periodical Press from the Moldavian SSR","authors":"Liliana Botnari","doi":"10.52505/filomod.2022.16.11","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.52505/filomod.2022.16.11","url":null,"abstract":"In this article, we research the state of the language from Bessarabia of the post-annexation period, analyzing the lexical variation of some texts from the Soviet daily papers „Moldova Socialistă” and „Tineretul Moldovei”, in order to identify the diachronic and diatopic variation features. We identify a specific language, polarized, most of the time, around some ideological axes, a vocabulary characterized by clichéd lexical units and structures, by certain stylistic marks, which are variable according to extralinguistic factors, by archaisms and obsolete forms of some words, as well as borrowings from Russian. Within each domain of knowledge, any notion is defined in relation to other notions through various semantic relations. Terminological variation gives rise to polysemy and synonymy. Equally significant are the relationships of antonymy and hyperonymy. The paper analyzes the most important semantic relations in marketing terminology in Romanian: polysemy, homonymy, synonymy, antonymy, hyperonymy and their types. Separate words can also have a metaphorical function, obviously in the context. The transfer of meaning occurs not only from term A to term B, from the concrete word to the abstract one, but also at the level of meaning of a single word. The mechanism is the same, an improper term is used instead of the proper term to maximize expressiveness. Often, these metaphors are difficult to identify because they lack the classic structure where there are two or more metaphorical terms. In terminology, monadic-metaphors are very often found in titles, as notions by which some scientific phenomena are explained.
