This article is part of the research that had been carried out, entitled “the development of interactive multimedia in learning the sancaya kusumawicitra dance based on the elaboration theory.” Sancaya Kusumawicitra dance is a form of male partner Surakartan style dance developed by S. Ngaliman Tjondropangrawit. The dance symbolically depicts a war between the evil characters of Sancaya and the good characters of Kusumawicitra. Another element that supports the Sancaya Kusumawicitra dance, besides the motion, accompaniment, cosmetology, and property is the costume. Costume is an important element to strengthen the role and character. It is because characteristics can also be seen from the colors of the costumes worn. The results of the analysis show that the costumes worn by Sancaya and Kusumawicitra figures have different colors. Sancaya wears the red costume and Kusumawicitra uses the green costume. Based on the Javanese culture, the red color has a symbolic meaning of hard temper and anger, while green has symbolic meanings of calm and peace.","PeriodicalId":143160,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Arts and Arts Education (ICAAE 2019)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131026753","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study employs a qualitative approach with a semiotic method derived from Roland Barthes's theory. Data were obtained through observation and interviews and analyzed qualitatively. The results suggest that 1) dreadlocks cutting ceremonies have been the tradition of Dieng community performed once a year for children with dreadlocks. 2) The role and function of the Rampak Yakso dance in this ritual acts as a safeguard in the ceremonial process, and 3) it symbolizes heroism, clearly exposed by the dance moves and the costume worn.","PeriodicalId":143160,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Arts and Arts Education (ICAAE 2019)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131948059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the present writer is convinced that the cognitive dimension of art is inseparable from discourse. In that way art can trigger intellectual arguments to increase the effectiveness of its expressions through the comparison between art and reasoning. Art has its own rationality, which among others includes the elaboration of the criteria, methods and instruments of its development. In this context, the epistemology of art is very relevant to bridge the gap between art and its rationality. The epistemology of art cannot be ignored in arts education because its object deals with the foundation of art, the conditions of its plausibility, its definitions, the concept of artworks, the relationship between art and its social condition, and particularly the issues of its creativity. In order to examine the genealogy of creativity, the present writer offers two concepts for analyzing the conditions of plausible creativity in art: Paul Ricoeur’s games and Gilles Deleuze’s deterritorialization with the purpose to explain the relation between imagination and creativity in art.","PeriodicalId":143160,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Arts and Arts Education (ICAAE 2019)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126521417","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The term “contemporary” refers to the current scope and time, as well as a way to indicate that there are developments and changes in theater. The I La Gligo performance is a part of a global art that is made possible in the contemporary theatrical elements. The global state of art, in the postdramatic framework, is a result of theater aesthetics that is in one breath with the globalization phenomenon. I La Galigo is one of the traditional cultural forms of South Sulawesi, which is also one of the longest literatures that inspires the performance that has been recognized by the UNESCO. It delivers the noble values of Indonesian culture such as courage, cultural diversity, as well as the shyness and empathy of the Indonesian people to the international stage. This study is aimed to identify the forms, contributing factors and meaning of the Indonesian postmodern practices through the I La Galigo theater that is directed by Robert Wilson. The findings suggest that in the concrete process of work in the postmodern culture, there is an aesthetic idiom that is developed through dance, visual forms, music, and poetry which are then manifested in the form of a theatrical performance that puts the emphasis on the use of gesture acting.","PeriodicalId":143160,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Arts and Arts Education (ICAAE 2019)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129284837","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to depict the main functions of the Lang Nginang dance as a part of the Mengayau traditional rite. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach based on Roland Barthes ’ semiotics as the theoretical foundation. Barthes ’ semiotics is used to identify the sign system from denotative to connotative meaning. The findings show that the Lang Nginang dance serves as a means of communication with the spirits of the ancestors, a means of affecting natural forces, especially those related to the safety of the pengayau , as well as a means to legitimate tradition in the mengayau ceremony. The dance has distinctive features. For example, it can only be performed by a strong dancer dressed in Kapuak tree barks, and the setting must be in a place selected in sacred time, namely the central pillar in a Panjai House with offerings as a part of the mengayau traditional ceremony.","PeriodicalId":143160,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Arts and Arts Education (ICAAE 2019)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122781619","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is caused by the migration of the population from one to another area, including the Balinese people who spread to various parts of the country in Indonesia. The phenomenon of cultural acculturation through art, especially dance can be studied through a Pangastusi dance. The aim of this study is to describe the Pangastusi dance ethnographically, so that the background, and aspects of its constituent elements can be elaborated. The data in this study were collected through observations on Pangastuti dance videos. This was done to find the variety of movements, costumes, and music of the female Yogyakartan style in the Pangastuti dance performance. The data found in the Pangastuti dance were analyzed, and described. Also, the position of movement, costume, and music that exists in the dance were interpreted. Verbal descriptions were used in analyzing the data. The results of the study show that there are ten types of Yogyakartan-style dance movements used in the Pangastuti dance, including the movements of lembeyan, kenser, trisik, ombak banyu, gajah ngoling, seblak sampur, tumpang tali, jengkeng jeblosan, and ngelayang. Then, the costume and accessories include pending, centung, gelangkono naga, sari ayu, pelik, untaian melati, and gelung bokor. In addition, the music covers gending kemanak used in the presentation (sembahan) and at the end (pakaad) of the Pangastuti dance.","PeriodicalId":143160,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Arts and Arts Education (ICAAE 2019)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124947238","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because what is shown is a series of drawings drawn on a rectangular paper or canvas, the paper or canvas can be rolled up and stretched. The series of drawings depict scenes from a play, and a play consists of several acts. Beber Puppet is one of the arts and cultures of Indonesia that is apt to be forgotten. Indonesian cultural and arts education is one of the appropriate subjects to reintroduce the arts and cultures of Indonesia which are likely to become extinct like Wayang Beber. Cultural arts subjects are closely related to character education. Character education aims to form and train individual abilities continuously for self-improvement towards a better life. Developmental efforts need to be made in Wayang Beber so that character education can be easily understood, and Wayang Beber is easily recognized by students. The development of Wayang Beber as a learning material in the subjects of Indonesian cultural arts will result in a product called Creative Wayang Beber.","PeriodicalId":143160,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Arts and Arts Education (ICAAE 2019)","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115684795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
