Method: The bibliometric analysis method was used to reveal a general profile of the studies. 132 theses were reached through the CoHE Thesis Center database. The theses were analyzed within the scope of a year, type, subject, gender of the author, the title of the advisor, the language of publication, number of pages, the university published, type of university, institute, and department. Results: The theses published are mostly written by female authors, are generally carried out by advisors with the title of professors, and have a high percentage of the Turkish publication language. Master’s theses are the majority, and most theses have been prepared at the Middle East Technical University. The studies have focused on similar issues and the concepts of ‘accessibility’ and ‘sustainability’ have been studied on campuses in recent years. Conclusion: Although the first universities in the form of campuses started to form in the second half of the 20th century in our country, the first thesis was prepared in 1989. This situation shows that it is late in terms of timing. Today, with the increasing number of universities, the theses for university campuses will increase gradually","PeriodicalId":142407,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL REFEREED JOURNAL OF DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130630247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Building structures are reviewed as masonry, steel framed, wood framed, reinforced concrete framed, composite and prefabricated structures. This study aims to analyze the existing building stock of Turkey and assess the existing buildings in terms of their structural system decisions. Method: Following the comparative assessment of the types of structures based on literature review, assessment criteria for the selection of structural system are determined and a statistical analysis of the existing building stock in Turkey has been made in terms of the use of different structures. A questionnaire was prepared for the architects who decided the structural system in the design phase. Respondents evaluate the structural systems and selection criteria. Statistical analysis is made with the results of the survey. Findings: There is a clear preference for reinforced concrete framed structures in Turkey. A quantitative assessment of the structural systems in the existing buildings in Turkey by 2018 shows that 93.13% of the building stock has reinforced concrete framed. Looking at the individual years in the 2009 to 2018 period, the rate of preference of using reinforced concrete framed structures never went below 89% among all types of structures, but steel framed structure is the most preferred structural system at the end of the survey. Conclusion: It is thought-provoking that although different structures have different comparative advantages, structures other than reinforced concrete framed are preferred so little. The findings will contribute to making the right decision in building structure with the assessment of different structures in different aspects.","PeriodicalId":142407,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL REFEREED JOURNAL OF DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129750101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Yöntem: Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Mimarlık Fakültesi Mimarlık Bölümü’nde üç defa uygulanmış olan bu deneysel yöntem, ünlü mimarların tasarım stratejilerini özümseme, benzeştirme, soyutlama, uyarlama gibi araçlarla öğrenilen “O’nun Gibi Tasarla”maktan meydana gelmektedir. Bulgular: “O’nun Gibi Tasarla” öğretisinde temel prosedür, öğrencinin tasarladığı yeni yapıda ünlü mimarlardan esinlenen tasarım davranışlarının yer almasıdır. Değerlendirme, öğrencinin çalıştığı mimarı ne derece özümseyebildiği ve sonuçta tasarladığı yeni yapıda ünlü mimara ait çizgileri ne derecede karakterize edebildiğinin tespitinden oluşmaktadır. UNESCO Historical Ur - ban Landscape approach encourages the use of information and communication technologies in understanding and promoting the visitors of cities and parts of the city. These information and communication technologies that make everything accessible today - especially social media - are an important tool which used to actively engage visitors and users with cultural heritage and encourage awareness and engage with each other. At the same time, social media provides data for an analytical research. How - ever, the use of this data to support the protection, planning and management of heritage values is very limited. Aim : In this study, the contribution of social media to the historical urban landscape, which offers new openings for the perception and experience of heritage values in the city of Safranbolu, UNESCO World Heritage Site was investigated. Method :With in the scope of the literature review, location, photograph and tag data were analyzed by years on Flickr application, which is one of the location-based social media tools. The data were processed on the Protection Reconstruction Plan updated in 2010. Results : information was given about the universal value definitions of heritage through so cial media. It also shows that social media is actively involved in the development of protection awareness of users and visitors and the active involvement of the historic urban landscape. ABSTRACT Rapidly increasing the world’s population causes social and spatial fragmentation in settlements that are in the process of uncontrolled urbanization. Overly dense and standardized structures, inadequate public and green areas, infrastructure and economic difficulties, social decompositi on are increasing, which poses a risk to the livability, quality of life and sustainability of cities. Urban authenticity and environmental quality are damaged in the historical environments that are falling day by day and trapped in the rapidly growing city, and the structural and visual authenticity and integrity of the historical environment are in danger of being lost. (Dinçer, 2013: 31-32). The reason for making recommendationdecisions within the framework of the “Historical Urban Landscape Concept” adopted by UNESCO in 2011 is because the increase in the rate of urbanization, the weakening of dialogue with the historical sites in the city, and the inability to establish a relationship is the fact that these areas become objects of tourism and cannot be protected despite the measures taken. Historical urban landscape is a form of approach and understanding that proposes the implementation of a holistic and socially inclusive approach that enables community parti","PeriodicalId":142407,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL REFEREED JOURNAL OF DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130107834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: The method of the study consists of four steps: (1) determination of public spaces to evaluate visual perception; (2) scoring the visual perceptions with the semantic differentiation technique using 18 bipolar pairs to evaluate the design characteristics of space. Each bipolar pair was scored on a 7-point Likert scale (1=Negative, 7=Positive). (3) Preparation and application of visual perception questionnaires; (4) performed the statistical analysis. At this stage, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was used to group the bipolar pairs that are dominant in participant perceptions. MANOVA was used to determine whether the factors changed according to socio-demographic characteristics. Results: The answers of 209 participants studying different design disciplines were evaluated in the study. As a result of the EFA, carried out separately for each public space, the bipolar pairs were classified into three groups: feelings of pleasure, excitation, and dominance. Conclusion: Excitation and dominance in area 1, excitation-dominance and satisfaction in area 2, and excitation and pleasure-dominance in area 3 were determined as factors affecting perception. According to the MANOVA results, while there was no statistical significance between the occupational disciplines and the participants who had not visited the field before (p>0.05), significant differences were found between the participants who were at different levels of design training (p<0.05).","PeriodicalId":142407,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL REFEREED JOURNAL OF DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117121677","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Method: In the study, modern and traditional methods were used to create survey drawings, and the deteriorations and changes in the building were identified. A literature and archive review was conducted to obtain information about the building, a restitution proposal was introduced, and conservation and functioning decisions were made accordingly. Findings: It was determined that the major problems that occurred in the hospital building were caused by add-ons and fire, and then the deterioration began due to abandonment. It was understood that it is a more correct approach to transform it to its original state, and keep the building alive by adaptive re-use. Conclusion: Hamidiye Hospitals are important since they reflect the buildings of a specific period. It was understood that the building, which was out of use due to reasons of improper intervention and fire, is about to collapse due to abandonment. For this reason, it was decided that its conservation will be more appropriate by a timely intervention and adaptive re-use.","PeriodicalId":142407,"journal":{"name":"INTERNATIONAL REFEREED JOURNAL OF DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134065467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
