Particularly, one main goal is to promote innovation and development through entrepreneurship and start-ups. One relevant way to do this, are training programmes on entrepreneurship and innovation management Many HEI offers this kind of program at a national level. Unfortunately, they have a very different level of quality and in many cases lack of relation will be cultural and economic local conditions, mostly for SME. Two international initiatives cooperate to create a new offer for this social need, using innovative approaches on social networking and distance learning education. Those initiatives are, by one side the University Industry Network (UIN) and by the other one the EMundus Project. This paper reports the main objectives of both initiatives and the joint project they are working on for a pilot experience for training on entrepreneurship and innovation management, based on a virtual institutional network for distributed blended learning, with an Open Education approach and OER Tools.","PeriodicalId":140882,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Interactive Collaborative and Blended Learning (ICBL)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129325844","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"OER-based learning and people with disabilities","authors":"Rosa Navarrete, S. Luján-Mora","doi":"10.1109/ICBL.2015.7387646","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ICBL.2015.7387646","url":null,"abstract":"The Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative is being promoted by governments and organizations related to education around the world in order to improve and equalize access to quality educational content to all people. OER are digital contents for teaching-learning purpose available through websites, released under an open intellectual property license to allow their free use for self-learners and educators. The OER-based learning is involved in formal and non-formal education and can be included in different educational environments, including Elearning. However, despite the growing availability of OER, most of these resources are not accessible to people with disabilities. Hence, the accessibility issues need to be addressed in order to include this vulnerable group of population in OER-based learning opportunities. An accessible environment should be twofold: accessibility of resources and accessibility of OER website that offers the resources. In this paper, we propose a process to guide the creation and release of accessible educational resources and their application to a case study. This case refers the creation of an educational resource accessible for people with severe visual impairments and its release through important OER websites. This accessible resource is a full online course that includes downloadable PDF documents. Moreover, OER websites, where this resource is released, are accessible for people with disabilities. Furthermore, this paper highlights the specific considerations for visual impairments in the design of this resource, and accessibility validation tests conducted with automated tools, simulation software, and user testing. The results of this experience allow recognizing certain problems in the creation of accessible resources as well as the limitations of OER websites to serve people with disabilities. In addition, this work contributes to the awareness about the inclusive vision of OER-based learning.","PeriodicalId":140882,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Interactive Collaborative and Blended Learning (ICBL)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131047593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though game based learning has been integrated into formal education in school and university, corporate human resource departments still rely on more traditional learning approaches, since computer games are often seen as more of an opposite to work processes. In this paper an implementation guideline for the integration of game based learning into the corporate competence development is established. Starting from an extensive literature research the concept presented in this paper has been validated in expert workshops with managers and human resource experts. It was examined in how far game based learning could contribute to the vocational work based training and which steps need to be undertaken to apply game based learning. Starting from the theoretical concepts of motivation theory the main design options in creating instructional games are analyzed. In addition to that a classification of different types of games in relation to their corporate application fields has been developed. The authors recommend increasing the corporate use of game based learning as part of the vocational work based learning to reach better the future qualification requirements of companies as well as the training of less education experienced workers. A structured implementation process is suggested and a matching concept of game design in relation to the work tasks is presented.","PeriodicalId":140882,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Interactive Collaborative and Blended Learning (ICBL)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132898068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model integrates several dimensions regarding Multiple Intelligences, Self-Regulation skills and Learning Styles constructs. The exploratory study is carried out with three statistical methods: analysis of principal components, correlation analysis and cluster formation. The prediction of students' final grades was accomplished from three perspectives: i) from the average final grade in each cluster, ii) obtaining rules to classify, a-priori, each student as “pass” or “fail” by means of decision trees, and iii) detecting those dimensions of the constructs that have a larger impact on students' grades, using linear regressions. It is found that the logical-mathematical intelligence has the largest positive impact and the anxiety of the students also has a significant, but negative, impact. It is also found that students who present a high intrinsic motivation are very likely to pass their courses. Additionally, it is found that the average grades in each cluster are the expected ones according to the characteristics defining the cluster. The results are encouraging and may serve to improve instructional design and the elaboration of more tailored didactic resources.","PeriodicalId":140882,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Interactive Collaborative and Blended Learning (ICBL)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116672889","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It describes some of the challenges that NNS experience when participating in a MOOC and identifies the requirements that ought to be met to accomplish accessibility for NNS. The requirements were elicited from WCAG 2.0 guidelines, ISO/IEC 24751:2008 recommendations, published results of related research, NNS that have participated in MOOCs in English, and authors' own experience as instructors and students of MOOCs. The design includes and architecture that involves three actors: NNS, local instructors, and MOOC authors; one non-virtual component (a local study group), and three platform components: a learning management system (LMS), a content management system (CMS), and an adaptive content engine (ACE).","PeriodicalId":140882,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Interactive Collaborative and Blended Learning (ICBL)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116314759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The project aims to be a proposal for education innovation by increasing the student's interactivity with the robot's features inside a virtual environment, developed using the game engine Unity and the Oculus Rift headset for the virtual visualization. By using this virtual simulator, on site operation time is decreased, mainly by allowing off-line programming of the equipment. It also allows universities without or with limited industrial machinery to provide their students a way to learn and practice on industrial automation and robotics simulation topics without inconvenience. The virtual simulator is designed to decrease the student's learning curve by displaying a complete virtual environment where the tridimensional model of the robotic arm can be visualized and programmed according to the real model's parameters and specifications.","PeriodicalId":140882,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Interactive Collaborative and Blended Learning (ICBL)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115258283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
