The centralized base station (or eNodeB), which controls everything in traditional mobile networks, cannot be the only solution when the number of mobile users and devices increase, causing service outages, low spectral efficiency, and high latency. An important technology that can help to solve some of the issues related to traffic overhead and to fulfill the requirements of 5G is D2D communication. In this paper, we focus on D2D communication in a 5G decentralized emergency scenario, where decentralized means that there is no communication or control from the eNodeB. One of the main issues in D2D communications, is the efficiency of the discovery process between couples of devices able to interconnect directly, especially in the decentralized case. In this context, we explore and compare the impact of different power allocation strategies with increasing numbers of D2D devices and different system parameters.","PeriodicalId":140384,"journal":{"name":"2018 16th Biennial Baltic Electronics Conference (BEC)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115198318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study introduces a method for estimating heart rate recovery (HRR) using a custom-made wrist-worn device, capable of acquiring instantaneous pulse rate, as well as a consumer smart wristband, which provides pulse rate at intervals of 5 s or longer. The feasibility to estimate HRR parameters using the PPG-based devices was assessed by comparing to the synchronously acquired reference electrocardiogram. Three HRR parameters were studied on pulse rate data, obtained from 22 healthy participants, instructed to perform standardized stair climbing test. Study findings show that HRR parameters, estimated using the wrist-worn device, are associated with twice lower absolute error compared to the consumer smart wristband, emphasizing the importance of an instantaneous pulse rate to ensure a sufficiently accurate parameter estimation.","PeriodicalId":140384,"journal":{"name":"2018 16th Biennial Baltic Electronics Conference (BEC)","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116299586","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The equivalent parallel resonance impedance of single coil is measured, representing expectedly the cardiorespiratory activity induced volume changes in human body. Two chosen types of coils are researched in order to evaluate their difference in gaining access to cardiorespiratory activity: round shaped (O) coil and Figure-of-eight shaped (Fo8) coil. The Fo8 coils are found to provide better result in the case of monitoring cardiorespiratory activity than the O coils. However, the effect of concurrent movements is the highest for Fo8 coils. The immense influence of the choice of the position of coil, dependent on the shape, is concluded. The most suitable positions and configurations of coils are proposed.","PeriodicalId":140384,"journal":{"name":"2018 16th Biennial Baltic Electronics Conference (BEC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116850576","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a new distance function for defining the degree of similarity between MBT generated test cases. These test cases are represented by labeled graphs, and their similarity is measured. This converter is characterized by a multilevel operation with two conventional two-level voltage source inverters and a single DC voltage source. The proposed control and modulation scheme allows a fast and robust operation of the inverter. The voltage modulator will allow the regulation and stability of the voltage capacitor of the floating bridge. It was also developed to provide an asymmetrical operation of the DC voltages (single DC source and capacitor). Due to this, high output voltage levels will be ensured. Several simulation results will be provided to show the characteristics of the proposed system.","PeriodicalId":140384,"journal":{"name":"2018 16th Biennial Baltic Electronics Conference (BEC)","volume":"45 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126704464","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several fault types could occur in SRM drives, such as, open and short-circuit transistor faults. Thus, this paper presents a new fault detection and diagnosis method for transistor faults in a SRM drive. The method is based on symmetry indexes that are created from the analysis of the currents patterns. The proposed approach results in a fast and robust method, presenting immunity to different mechanical conditions. The characteristics of the proposed method will be verified through several simulation tests.","PeriodicalId":140384,"journal":{"name":"2018 16th Biennial Baltic Electronics Conference (BEC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123539994","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
