Our aim is to detect the vehicles, their speed and the direction-of-arrival at the observation point, using the Doppler principle and the analysis of sensor signal spectrograms. Experiments on data collected from real traffic confirm the feasibility of the approach, showing near 95% detection rate, near perfect direction-of-arrival detection and adequate velocity estimation.","PeriodicalId":140384,"journal":{"name":"2018 16th Biennial Baltic Electronics Conference (BEC)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130936489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The statistical PM space can be expressed as weighted combination of hysterons. A computer programme was designed for automatic numerical identification of the PM space probability density of hysterons within a class of distribution mixtures using optimization stochastic algorithms and $phi $-divergence measures. It was found that the FSA optimization technique (Fast Simulated Annealing), in combination with the Hellinger divergence measure between hysteretic loops, reliably founds the precise PM spaces of hysterons distributed along a mixture of two Guyer and parametrized Koen distributions. As an example, experimentally measured data of earthquake dampers are processed, the six identified PM spaces of six testing cycles for the dampers are presented and, based on them, new damage index $ID_{PM}$ is proposed and evaluated.","PeriodicalId":140384,"journal":{"name":"2018 16th Biennial Baltic Electronics Conference (BEC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115393324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The availability of diagnostics in clinical laboratories is limited, especially in the developing world, thus, it is imperative to have reliable instrument-free rapid diagnostic tests (RDT). Novel second generation RDTs implement DNA amplification assays with performance metrics matching gold standard PCR tests, but also introduce unique engineering problems. We demonstrate a non instrumented nucleic acid amplification test (NINAAT) platform and detail the solutions that address these challenges. The platform was built around a DNA amplification Lab-on-a-Chip (LOC) with integrated heating via a self-regulating polymer resin PTCR heating element powered by alkaline batteries. The demonstrated prototype was complete with user interfaces required to load the sample and reagents as well as read the output. The prototype was demonstrated to work as a DNA amplification test by detecting chlamydia trachomatis DNA from an aqueous sample via loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) in the device within 30 minutes in total.","PeriodicalId":140384,"journal":{"name":"2018 16th Biennial Baltic Electronics Conference (BEC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122047524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
