One of the most significant elements of context-awareness in ubiquitous environments is mobile device localization. There have been a number of attempts to design systems for indoor localization using different wireless sensing techniques, although currently there is no conclusive method for this purpose. There is also a list of issues that prevent from obtaining a good positioning accuracy which are not often addressed by other articles. Therefore, this paper presents a set of test cases and experimental results for wireless local positioning systems based on radio signal strength in order to emphasis their issues and challenges.","PeriodicalId":138224,"journal":{"name":"2007 4th International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"219 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130439566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Normally this is done after experimenting with a limited number of pictures, and then one just hopes that the parameters will work adequately with all the other images. Experimenting with the parameters, however, consumes precious human time. In this paper we present a technique that aims at finding the right parametrization by comparing several approaches and deciding on the optimal one automatically.","PeriodicalId":138224,"journal":{"name":"2007 4th International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129438164","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Investigations about conditions under which the Mamdani inference mechanism satisfies this axiom system can be found in different sources. In this article a generalization of axioms was given, and a modified firing level in fuzzy rule base, satisfying the previously mentioned axiom system. The introduced degree of coincidence by the low level of covering over of rule premise and rule input has measurable influence on rule output, and on the other hand, make weaker the low level of coincidence, and make stronger the high level of coincidence between fuzzy sets. The question arises to what extent and under what conditions the approximate reasoning based on similarity measures satisfies the basic axioms in fuzzy inference mechanism.","PeriodicalId":138224,"journal":{"name":"2007 4th International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129616927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These techniques are inspired from their rich classical counterparts, and were adapted to the quantum computation specific features, including the available error models. Because of their wide spectrum of application, including quantum circuit simulation, and their flexibility in circuit representation (i.e. both behavioral and structural descriptions of a circuit are possible), the hardware description languages (HDLs) appear as the best choice for our simulation experiments. The techniques employed for fault injection are based on simulator commands. The simulation results for the fault-affected circuit were compared to the outputs of a Gold circuit (a faultless circuit) in order to compute the quantum failure rate.","PeriodicalId":138224,"journal":{"name":"2007 4th International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128548458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since this problem tackling is mainly based on simple geometric and algebraic considerations a brief historical summary is given on the antecedents to exemplify the advantages of geometric way of thinking in Natural Sciences. Following that the most popular branches of the classical and novel, Soft Computing (SC) based robust and adaptive approaches are analyzed with especial emphasis on the supposed need and the consequences of obtaining complete, accurate, and permanent models either for the system to be controlled or to the control situation as a whole. Following that, in comparison to the above mentioned more traditional methods, our novel approach is summarized that has the less ambitious goal of obtaining only partial, incomplete, temporal, and situation-dependent models that require continuous refreshment via observing the behavior of the controlled system in the given actual situation. It will be shown how simple geometric considerations can be used for developing a simple iterative learning control for Single Input - Single Output (SISO) systems the conditions of the convergence of which is easy to satisfy by choosing very simple and primitive initial system models and roughly chosen control parameters. Finally it will be shown how the most attractive mathematical properties of the fundamental symmetry groups of Natural Sciences can be utilized for the generalization of our approach to the control of Multiple Input - Multiple Output (MIMO) systems. The already achieved results are exemplified via simulation, and the possible directions of the future research are briefly outlined, too.","PeriodicalId":138224,"journal":{"name":"2007 4th International Symposium on Applied Computational Intelligence and Informatics","volume":"163 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2007-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131188328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
