Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system and high-order QAM modulation system. These systems must involve large multi-user and multi- carrier signal detection problems, and for the future wireless communication systems, this is a very important issue. This paper introduces a new, overlapped time-frequency division multiplex system. In this new system, the elimination mechanism for inter-symbol interference is unnecessary and only need to detect the symbol sequence code to distinguish the different original signal. Based on a gabor transform method, a rapid detection algorithm and decoding program is presented.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130870988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a considerably challenging task to transmission distortion analysis, because the wireless channel is time-varying and error-prone. More importantly, the transmission errors in one video frame may propagate further due to temporal coding. In this paper, we develop a sequence-segment-level (SS-level) transmission distortion model for H.264 video streams. Unlike previous schemes, which were all based on the tempo-spatial domain and needed full decoding of the compressed bit stream, we propose a compressed domain approach to transmission distortion modeling. The model estimates the transmission distortion by combining the video features directly extracted from the compression domain with the characteristics of the wireless channel. Since the approach does not require full-decompression of the video stream, the proposed model has very low computational complexity, which is well suited for the real-time application. Experimental results show the proposed model has high accuracy.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129234804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, to improve the handoff performance from a different aspect and provide differentiated handoff QoS, we propose a handoff initiation threshold algorithm supporting multi-services. Our study indicates that the accuracy of the handoff initiation can be improved by integrating the information of the QoS demands of service, the change of the link quality and the speed of the MS as the handoff trigger. The analytical results show that the proposed algorithm can decrease the unnecessary handoff and control overhead during the handoff initiation phase, while the other aspects of the system performance are not deteriorated.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116081868","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this routing scheme, each path is marked by path grade, which is calculated from the combination of multiple constrained QoS parameters such as the time delay, packet loss rate and bandwidth, etc. packet routing is decided by the path grade and the queue buffer length of the node. The advantage of this scheme is that it can effectively improve the packet delivery ratio and reduce the end-to-end delay. The simulation results show that our proposed algorithm can improve the packet delivery ratio by 9%-22% and the end-to-end delay can be reduced by 14%-16% as compared with the conventional QAODV and ARA routing schemes.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114298689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although lots of papers have addressed the pulse distortion issue, incorporating the impacts of frequency dependence on pulse distortion appears to be novel. A theoretical reflection model based on geometrical optics is established in this paper. The distortion of second derivative Gaussian pulse caused by reflection from various materials is investigated. These materials are very common in indoor environments. Fresnel reflection coefficient in frequency domain and inverse Fourier transform are used to obtain the time-domain pulse waveform. The simulation result shows that non-linear amplitude attenuation leads to the pulse distortion, and non-linear phase distortion has little impacts on pulse distortion. It is also found that the energy of reflected electromagnetic field is very small compared with the incident pulse. These numerical results can be directly applied in channel modeling and receiver design.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"304 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122473048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed timing synchronization method takes two steps which consist of two modified auto-correlators. For coarse timing synchronization, a sliding window differentiator is used after a conventional auto-correlation in order to avoid plateau problem. The conjugate symmetry property of L-LTS is used for fine timing synchronization. Since cross-correlation based methods are not required, the computational complexity and the number of multiplier can be reduced. In order to reduce the hardware complexity, we have used sign comparators (SC) instead of using multipliers. Based on simulation results, the proposed method outperforms a conventional method. The proposed scheme can be applied to IEEE 802.1 In systems and can easily be expanded to frequency synchronization scheme.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"293 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124420439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
