We show that the performance of frame aggregation introduced by the 802.11n adheres due to the priority mechanism of the legacy 802.11e EDCA scheduler, resulting in a poor overall performance. Because high priority flows have low channel utilization, the low priority flows throughputs can be amerced further. By introducing an additional delay at the MAC layer, before the channel access scheduling, it will retain aggregate sizes at higher numbers and consequently a better channel utilization. Also, in order to support both UDP and TCP transport layer protocols, the algorithm's operational conditions are kept adaptive. The simulation results demonstrate that our proposed adaptive delayed channel access outperforms significantly the current 802.1 In specification and non-adaptive delayed channel access.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132473745","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We find that all of retransmission policy has some defects in aspect of reducing receive buffer blocking. In order to further alleviate some of the throughput degradation caused by rbuf blocking problem, the combination of Congestion window, Slow start threshould and Lossrate(CSL) to be taked into account. Based on this, we present a suggestion called compound parameter Retransmission policy (i.e., Rtx-CSL policy) to further improve the goodput of infinite rbuf CMT association. We also discuss CMT performance using Rtx-CSL policy and constrained rbuf values of 32 KB, 64 KB, and 128 KB. A demonstrate using simulation is provided showing how rbuf blocking is reduced and overall throughput of an rbuf- constrained CMT association could benefit from Rtx-CSL policy.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130246246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As to crypto units, we adopt a specific design which is reconfigurable. At the mean time, a set of new VLIW instructions that improve the efficiency of the analyzed algorithms are introduced. A number of algorithms were implemented on an architectural simulator and dedicated parts of the architecture were realized using Verilog to measure hardware parameters. Finally, in synthesis, the design is fabricated on 0.18um CMOS cells through Design Compiler tool, and the performance of this co-processor is compared with other hardware/software implementation. The results prove that AFPC can achieve relatively high performance in cipher algorithms processing.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115106524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our prior research, to select an optimal path in the IEEE 802.16 multi-hop relay (MR) network, proposes a novel metric, called ERRI, which indicates the effectiveness of radio resource of a link used to transmit data. Under the consideration of error-prone links due to unreliable channel conditions, the paper, on the basis of our previous work, models an error-prone MR network as a finite-state Markov chain, and then develops a new path cost function for symmetric path selection. Simulation results show that the relay path selection scheme with modified ERRI considerations significantly achieves throughput gains in the error-prone IEEE 802.16 MR network.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129883386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is shown that, in addition to OdB Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) and power efficiency, uncoded OFDM-CPM exploits the frequency diversity of multipath channel. Taking into account the Input Power Backoff (IBO), OFDM-CPM is shown to outperform OFDM at high bit energy-to-noise density ratios (Eb/N0). However, at low Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), the OFDM-CPM phase demodulator receiver suffers from a threshold effect. Simulation results in SUI channels confirm the analysis.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127486647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
