The detector proposed is implemented using 65 nm ASIC technologies. Owing to the programmability, the detector can be dynamically switched between linear (e.g. MMSE) and lattice-reduction aided (e.g. LRA-MMSE) detectors by simply running another software subroutine. Therefore, it allows a good trade-off between performance and computational latency to be achieved under various scenarios. Along with the hardware, two algorithm simplifications (SCNT-LR and SOT-LR) are proposed for finding subcarriers with ill- conditioned channel matrices. And in the end, interpolated LR (I- LR) is proposed to further reduce the computational complexity for real-time implementations.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115866163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Users may require various data rates and quality of service (QoS) in different places. The integrating of wireless cellular network and wireless local area network (WLAN) can take full advantage of each other, and provides consumers with much more comprehensive wireless service. In this paper, a novel internetworking architecture between WLAN and UMTS cellular networks with Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) technique is proposed. Based on RoF technique, we can locate the WLAN server in the Base Station (BS) of UMTS, and Mobile Node can always connect with BS whether it is in UMTS or WLAN. In particular, algorithms for intersystem communications and vertical handover management in this architecture are also proposed. The former algorithm decreases the signaling burden for the UMTS core network or core Internet. And the later one significantly reduces the latency in vertical handover.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"212 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133736515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the large size of Channel State Information (CSI) feedback to transmitter is its major drawback. To reduce this cost, many works have been done on CSI feedback design in frequency domain for MIMO-OFDM systems. We propose a scheme which represents the CSI in temporal domain. Based on that the channel is inherent formed by numbers of taps, it is efficient to take few dominant ones. Many multiuser systems take advantage of frequency diversity by allocating only subset of subcarriers to a user, so user can only send feedback on subcarriers of its preferred resource blocks. We improve our channel impulse response (CIR) feedback scheme to let the counterpart of temporal response by DFT focus on these resource blocks of interest (RBol). Performance evaluation has been taken on 3GPP Spatial Channel Model. Simulation shows that the performance of temporal response emphasized on RBoIs exceeds that of Channel Frequency Response with same size and is comparable to the Channel Frequency Response based scheme with higher frequency resolution.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"503 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133178422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to resist the multipath effects, selective diversity combining Rake (SRake) receiver is employed. The encoded TH-BPSK UWB system is obtained by substituting a convolutional encoder for the repetition encoder. Soft output Viterbi algorithm (SOVA) and Viterbi algorithm (VA) are employed as the decoding methods. The performance analysis shows that the coded TH-BPSK system outperforms the uncoded scheme significantly with the increase of the SRake receiver fingers. The effective order of processing gains achieved by the coded scheme is the product of the number of SRake branches and the free distance of the convolutional code.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133720682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is sensible to expect all the existing services should survive when there is a new comer to share the precious resources of spectrum. Unfortunately this study together with many others show that it may not be the case. Typical application scenarios are modeled for interference analysis resembling realistic deployments. Two government radio systems are selected for study. One is a terrestrial fixed microwave link which is rather robust in an environment with UWB interference because of its highly directional antenna. The second system is a digital broadband radio working in the public safety band which suffers significantly from shortened useable range or degraded data throughout.","PeriodicalId":137660,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117321050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
