The active current is detected using the correlation coefficient between the source voltage and load current waveforms, and the reactive current is detected using the cross-correlation coefficient. The basic principle of the proposed detection method is discussed, and the proposed method is applied to a previously proposed single-phase shunt active filter for consumer electronic equipment. This paper describes a series of methods to detect thickness defects in DWI tinplate. In addition, these methods provide information to identify the origin of the defects, allowing fast corrections and therefore improving mill performance. In our approach an adapted thickness signal is spatially sampled from the input stages of the mill's last X-ray gauge.","PeriodicalId":131410,"journal":{"name":"Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting.","volume":"2006 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130938338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The voice of each speaker is modeled by a SOM, trained to specialize in the quantization of feature vectors (MFCCs) extracted from his voice. When a test sample is presented, it is quantized by all SpMs, that compete for the speaker: the SOM with smallest quantization error defines the speaker. The system was tested on a speaker identification task over a 14 speaker set, with phrases from three phonetically balanced sets and one variable answer set. The results comprovate the method's efficiency.","PeriodicalId":131410,"journal":{"name":"Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting.","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127837528","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Effects of various parameters such as gas flow rate, solution conductivity, pulse repetitive rate and etc., on color removal efficiency of dying wastewater were investigated. Concentrations of gas phase O/sub 3/ and aqueous phase H/sub 2/O/sub 2/ under various conditions were measured. Experimental results show that air bubbling facilitates the breakdown of water and promotes generation of chemically active species. Color removal efficiency of IC solution can be greatly improved by the air aeration under various solution conductivities. Decolonization efficiency increases with the increase of the gas flow rate, and decreases with the increase of the initial solution conductivity. A higher pulse repetitive rate and a larger pulse capacitor Cp are favorable for the decolonization process. Ozone and hydrogen peroxide formed decreases with the increase of initial solution conductivity. In addition, preliminary analysis of the decolonization mechanisms is given.","PeriodicalId":131410,"journal":{"name":"Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting.","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128790897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a motor, the series-connected induction motor (SCIM) can operate at exactly double the synchronous speed for stable ranges of operation. The conventional super synchronous SCIM suffers from the absence of starting torque, and it has stability problems. In order to overcome the inherent starting and operating problems a novel vector control based technique has been proposed to achieve self-starting and stable operation for the SCIM. It has been shown both analytically and experimentally that the SCIM has higher torque capabilities compared to those obtained from a typical wound rotor induction motor.","PeriodicalId":131410,"journal":{"name":"Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting.","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126748898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Basically, it uses two multilayer perceptron (MLP) type neural networks. The first ANN uses the amplitude and angle of the reference voltage vector to determine the nearest three vectors (NTV) of the inverter by identifying the triangle wherein the reference vector lies. The second ANN is used to calculate the duty cycles of the three space vectors. An erasable programmable logic device (EPLD) synthesizes the PWM waves. The main advantages of this approach are the fast and simple implementation of the highly complex SVM algorithm for multilevel inverters without loosing precision compared to the conventional DSP-based SVM algorithm. Performance of the inverter using the proposed ANN-based SVM has been investigated extensively, and the results are found to be excellent. The principle described in the paper can be easily extended to an inverter with higher number of levels.","PeriodicalId":131410,"journal":{"name":"Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting.","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2004-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126816941","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This approach and the magnetron discharge current measurement based approach are employed in combination to detect the internal pressure of the vacuum switchgear to facilitate the predict replacement of the vacuum interrupter of the switchgear. The magnetron discharge based approach is employed to calibrate the internal pressure within vacuum interrupter accurately offline and the electric field measurement based approach is employed to detect the deterioration trends online.
