{"title":"[Microsurgical treatment of trigeminel neurinomas with middle fossa extradural approach].","authors":"Zhi-xiong Liu, Xian-rui Yuan, Jing-ping Liu","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To investigate the curative effect of microsurgical treatment of 15 cases of trigeminel neurinomas with middle fossa extradural approach.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>The clinical materials included the main clinical manifestations, preoperative CT and MRI features, operative techniques, and the outcome of 15 patients with trigeminel neurinomas were retrospectively analysed.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Total resection was achieved in 12 of the 15 patients and subtotal resection in the other 3 patients. Ninety-four percent of the cranial nerve deficit was improved or unchanged, and only 6% of cranial nerve palsy worsened, postoperatively. None of the patients had new cranial nerve deficit after the operation, and there was not operative mortality. {"title":"[Clinical value comparison between chemiluminescent immunoassay and immunoradiometric assay in detecting TSH in serum].","authors":"Jian-ying Yu, Ying Lin","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To compare the clinical value between chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA) and immunoradiometric assay (IRMA) in detecting TSH in patients with hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>The TSH levels in serums were detected by CLIA and IRMA in 112 normal persons, 120 hyperthyroidism patients and 58 hypothyroidism patients.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>CLIA was significantly correlated with IRMA (r = 0.98, P < 0.01). {"title":"[Adsorbent effect of activated carbon on small molecular uremic toxin and its influence factors].","authors":"Bo Yang, Yun-sheng Jiang, Jun Li","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To analyze the adsorbent effect of activated carbon on uremic toxin and its influence factors.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Uremic toxins (urea, creatinine and uric acid) were dissolved in the distilled water to obtain uremic toxic solution. Activated carbon was added to the solution, and the concentrations of uremic toxins were measured at different time spots. To determine the influence factors, some possible related materials, such as bile, amino acid, Ringer's, solution of glucose, HCl or NaOH respectively were added simultaneously.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The concentrations of toxins in uremic toxic solution decreased 5 min after adding the activated carbon. The concentration of urea was the lowest at 30 min, but it increased after 50 min; while the concentrations of creatinine and uric acid reached the lowest level from 10 to 30 min after adding the activated carbon, and maintained at the same level after that. The bile, amino acid, electrolyte, glucose and pH value did not influence the adsorption of uric acid significantly, but they influenced the adsorption of urea and creatinine. Bile and amino acid influenced the concentration of urea remarkably, following glucose, NaOH and HCl. The effect of pH 2.0 solution on the creatinine concentration was the most significant, following glucose.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Activated carbon has adsorptive effect on uremic toxins, but its adsorptive effect decreases as time goes on. {"title":"[Purification of human MMP-1 fusion protein and clinical detection of MMP-1 by its polyclonal antibody].","authors":"Jue Hou, Guo-ling Hu, Shuang-hu Liu","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objectives: </strong>To obtain the fusion protein of MMP-1 and the rabbit-anti-human matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1) polyclonal antibody, and to detect the serum MMP-1 in patients by this polyclonal antibody.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>The fusion protein was purified by affinity chromatography. Two rabbits were immunized with the purified fusion protein, and the immune sera of rabbits were collected. Antibodies (IgG) obtained from the immune sera were purified by ammonium sulfate fractionation, and the indirect sandwich enzyme immunoassay was used to detect the serum MMP-1 in 24 samples of patients with chronic liver disease or cirrhosis and in 12 normal sera as controls.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The purified MMP-1 fusion protein was successfully obtained; the purified specific polyclonal antibodies of rabbit-anti-human MMP-1 were also obtained from the immune sera of the rabbits, and could respond to human MMP-1. {"title":"[Construction and sequencing of recombinant plasmid pcDNA3/GRA1 from Toxoplasma gondii].","authors":"Li-ting Cai, Heng-ping Shu, Li-ping Jiang","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To construct a mammalian expression plasmid pcDNA3/GRA1 to express dense granules antigen-1 (GRA1) of Toxoplasma gondii, and to lay a foundation for further studying the protective immunity of pcDNA3/GRA1 as a DNA vaccine.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>The GRA1 opening reading frame (ORF) was amplified with two specific primers. The ORF and plasmid pcDNA3 were digested with EcoR I and Xho I respectively and the ORF was ligated into the pcDNA3 at polylinker. The recombinant vector pcDNA3/GRA1 was characterized by PCR, restriction enzyme digestion, and sequencing analysis.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The expected ORF, 573 bp long, was amplified by PCR, and inserted into plasmid pcDNA3. {"title":"[Expression of vascular endothelial growth factor in the peritoneal fluid and eutopic endometrium of patients with endometriosis].","authors":"Xiao-ling Fang, Xiao-meng Xia, Qiu-hua Lin","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To investigate the significance of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on the etiology of endometriosis.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>The level of VEGF in the peritoneal fluid from women with endometriosis (n = 19) and non-endometriosis (n = 21) was studied by ELISA. The expression of VEGF of eutopic endometrium collected from women with endometriosis (n = 15) and non-endometriosis (n = 12) was determined by relative quantity RT-PCR.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The level of VEGF in the peritoneal fluid in the endometriosis was higher than that of the controls (P < 0.05). Cyclic variation in VEGF concentration was seen in the peritoneal fluid from patients with endometriosis, and the VEGF concentration in the proliferative phase was significantly higher than that in the secretory phase (P < 0.05). No cyclic variation in VEGF was seen in the control group (P > 0.05). The expression of VEGF in the eutopic endometrium with endometriosis was significantly higher than that of the controls (P < 0.001). {"title":"[Morphologic and hydrodynamic characteristics of bovine jugular venous conduit with valves].","authors":"Zhong-shi Wu, Jing-chao Zhang, Duan Cheng","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To determine the morphologic and hydrodynamic characteristics of bovine jugular venous conduit with valves.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>Fresh bovine jugular veins with a retained native valve procured from a slaughterhouse were used as raw material to fabricate the valved conduits. The hydrodynamic performance of fresh and glutaraldehyde fixed bovine jugular vein conduits with valves was investigated in an experimental flow equipment that provided a constant pressure. The perfusion flow quantity through the conduits was measured under the antegrade (from the distal end to the proximal end) and retograde (from the proximal to the distal end) perfusion. The parameters of the valves in these bovine jugular venous conduits were also measured.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>There were 2-3 group valves in the bovine jugular venous conduit, with 3 or 2 valves in each group. The degrees of the leaflet development in different valves were different in the same conduit. The location of well-developed valves was interspersed. The anti-reflow ability of valves was positively correlated to the ratio between the leaflet height and valve sinus height (r = 0.709, P < 0.001). The percentage of retrograde and antegrade perfusion flow quantity after the glutaraldehyde treatment significantly increased than that before the glutaraldehyde treatment (P < 0.01).</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>Part of the bovine jugular venous conduit has well-developed valves with strong ability against reflowing.
