The PEVD is a generalisation of the ordinary EVD and will diagonalise a parahermitian matrix via paraunitary operations. This paper addresses savings - both computationally and in terms of memory use - that exploit the parahermitian structure of the matrix being decomposed, and also suggests an implicit trimming approach to efficiently curb the polynomial order growth usually observed during iterations of the PEVD algorithms. We demonstrate that with the proposed techniques, both storage and computations can be significantly reduced, impacting on a number of broadband multichannel problems.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123561017","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In general, this is a difficult non-linear optimization problem, as the frequencies belonging to one pitch often overlap the frequencies belonging to other pitches, thereby causing ambiguity between pitches with similar frequency content. The problem is further complicated by the fact that the number of pitches is typically not known. In this work, we propose a sparse modeling framework using a generalized chroma representation in order to remove redundancy and lower the dictionary's block-coherency. The found chroma estimates are then used to solve a small convex problem, whereby spectral smoothness is enforced, resulting in the corresponding pitch estimates. Compared with previously published sparse approaches, the resulting algorithm reduces the computational complexity of each iteration, as well as speeding up the overall convergence.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117025454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One promising algorithm is the recently proposed Subspace Pseudo-Intensity Vector method. In this contribution the Subspace Pseudo-Intensity Vector method is combined with a state-of-the-art method for robustly estimating the centres of mass in a 2D histogram based on matching pursuits. The performance of the improved Subspace Pseudo-Intensity Vector method is evaluated in the context of localising multiple moving sources where it is shown to outperform competing methods in terms of clutter rate and the number of missed detections whilst remaining comparable in terms of localisation accuracy.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"159 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123134090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our aim is to incorporate, into the energy detector, low-complexity algorithms that compute the performance of the detector itself. The main parameters of interest are the probability of detection and the required number of samples. Since the exact performance analysis involves complicated functions of two variables, such as the regularized lower incomplete Gamma function, we introduce new low-complexity approximations based on algebraic transformations of the one-dimensional Gaussian Q-function. The numerical comparison of the proposed approximations with the exact analysis highlights the good accuracy of the low-complexity computation approach.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"252 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116161835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To recover such signals, estimation posed as non-negative least squares problems have proven to be fruitful. Efficient algorithms with high accuracy have been proposed, but many of them assume either perfect knowledge of the dictionary generating the signal, or attempts to explain deviations from this dictionary by attributing them to components that for some reason is missing from the dictionary. In this work, we propose a robust non-negative least squares algorithm that allows the generating dictionary to differ from the assumed dictionary, introducing uncertainty in the setup. The proposed algorithm enables an improved modeling of the measurements, and may be efficiently implemented using a proposed ADMM implementation. Numerical examples illustrate the improved performance as compared to the standard non-negative LASSO estimator.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115779899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Whilst traditional approaches for SLAM in the vision and optical research literature rely on the assumption that the surrounding map features are static, in the acoustic case the positions of talkers are usually time-varying due to head rotations and body movements. This paper demonstrates that tracking of moving sources can be incorporated in a-SLAM by modelling the acoustic map as a Random Finite Set (RFS) of multiple sources and explicitly imposing models of the source dynamics. The proposed approach is verified and its performance evaluated for realistic simulated data.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125400160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The untrusted relay which helps to forward the source signal towards the destination, could also be regarded as a potential eavesdropper. Our system employs a friendly jammer which sends a known noise signal towards the relay. In this paper, we investigate the effect of jammer and relay locations on the achievable secrecy rate. We consider two scenarios where in the first case we consider no direct transmission between the source and destination, while in the second case we include a source to destination direct link in our communication system.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131740078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We handle both nullor-based ideal op-amp models and controlled-source-based linear op-amp macromodels in circuits with arbitrary topologies using recent derivations for complicated scattering matrices. The presented methods greatly increase the class of appropriate circuits for virtual analog modeling, and readily extend to circuits with any number of op-amps. Although op-amps are essential to many circuits and deviations from ideal can be important, previous WDF research applies only to the limited case of circuits with ideal op-amps, in differential amplifier topology, with no global feedback.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129967165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the considered system, the source and relays deploy the time-switching based radio frequency energy harvesting technique to harvest energy from a multi-antenna beacon. Different antenna selection and relay selection schemes are applied to enhance the security of the system. Specifically, two relay selection schemes based on the partial and full knowledge of channel state information are proposed. The exact closed-form expressions of the systems secrecy outage probability in these schemes are derived. A Monte-Carlo based simulation validates our analysis results.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"13 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132496704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

AMP is an iterative algorithm that performs image reconstruction through image denoising within a compressive sampling framework. In this work, our aim is to evaluate the merits of several combinations of a denoiser and a transform domain, which are the two main factors that determine the recovery performance. In particular, we investigate reconstruction performance in the spatial, DCT, and wavelet domains. We compare the results with existing reconstruction algorithms already used in ultrasound imaging and quantify the performance improvement.","PeriodicalId":127068,"journal":{"name":"2016 24th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127117107","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
