The aim was to develop a simulation model, which has been performed with a PLECS circuit simulator. The studies of this manuscript dealt with the analysis and design of bi-directional power converters and their control strategies based on the requirements of the residential smart-grid power flow. The design of the LCL filter has a major impact on the overall system performance and, consequently much attention should be given to the selection of basic filter parameters as well as the choice of magnetic materials and dimensions of inductor core. In this paper, the procedure for selecting the basic parameters of LCL filter for a 100 kVA grid-connected converter is described. A simple design procedure for determination of winding turns number and air-gap length of amorphous core inductor is presented. The prototype of three-phase inductor with amorphous core is manufactured in respect to specific constraints. This paper presents a methodology of applying neural networks for developing metamodel for the prediction of interior permanent magnet machine performance. Furthermore, it provides procedures and guidelines on design space sampling and developing neural-network-based metamodels to achieve good predicting performance. The control of power electronics in a microgrid with renewables and energy storages become more challenging under unbalanced load operation condition. The unbalance in current magnitude and phase will cause ripples in normal dq0 conversion, further causing voltage unbalance in the power converter current control loop. In this paper, a simulation test microgrid is studied as a good representation of a practical microgrid with local ancillary single loads. The double second-order generalized integrator-phase lock loop (DSOGI-PLL) technique for frequency and phase angle detection is modified to address the unbalanced current issue due to local single-phase load connected through an isolation transformer. The proposed method is verified through software simulation in both grid-connected and islanded modes. Those limits can be expressed by computationally efficient functions that are suitable for implementation in the real-time online environment. Computationally efficient limit functions are used in the calculation methodology of a common capability diagram for a parallelly connected generator group. The goal is to minimize the consumed electrical energy for a given driving cycle. First a theoretical description of LMC will be provided. Then a simulation of the machine (PMSM 100 kW, 5000 min-1) will show the feasibility and expected improvements of the method. The expectation is around 0.5 to 1.5 percent improvement. Experimental validation of the PMSM model is then performed. The EV simulation model is then build with the PMSM model, the EV is driven in a driving cycle and the total energy consumption is calculated. The results show that when the motor parameter are suitable, the efficiency increase can be in the order of few percent.
