A cross-sectional survey of children (<i>n</i> = 444) was conducted. The results showed that the prevalence of being underweight, stunting, and wasting was 23.4%, 37.6%, and 11.3%, respectively. Multivariate analysis revealed that immunization status, child health, the number of children under five years old, household size, monthly income, and drinking water sources were statistically associated with child undernutrition. The study suggests that there should be intervention from Ministry of Health to increase the complete immunization as well as biannual vitamin A dose for the children.</p>","PeriodicalId":11511,"journal":{"name":"Ecology of Food and Nutrition","volume":" ","pages":"269-285"},"PeriodicalIF":1.8,"publicationDate":"2023-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41095156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"医学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study explores TF consumption and patterns in a middle-income country's general population. This cross-sectional study compared HFIAS scores, household poverty (HP) and CM in two rural districts: Bobirwa with moderate and Mabutsane with high poverty. Households (n = 872) with children under-five years participated. Most children (87.6%) experienced food insecurity. Mean HFIAS for all households was 11.0 ± 8.
