On the one hand, they are required to meet the standards of qualification, competencies, and certification. On the other hand, they have over-working hour due to the imbalance between the number of the teachers and the students. This fact will undoubtedly affect their work quality. The work quality of the teachers can be measured by five kinds of competences: pedagogic, personality, social, professional, and leadership. This research is aimed to measure the five competences of the teachers of Islamic Education in Senior High Schools and Senior Vocational Schools (both SMA and SMK) in Central Java, and it is also to examine the hypothesis that there is no significant difference in teachers’ competences in terms of their status: civil servants (PNS) or not (non-PNS), and certified or not. By using quantitative approach, the research has two important findings. The first, the competency of the Islamic teachers in Central Java is on the medium level which have a score at 2.95 on a scale of 4.00. The pedagogic competence occupies the highest level with 3.25, in contrast the social competence is on the lowest one with 2.9. The second, there is no significant difference in competences between the teachers who are civil servants and those who are not. On the contrary, there is a significant difference in competences between the teachers who are certified and who are not certified yet.","PeriodicalId":102671,"journal":{"name":"Analisa: Journal of Social Science and Religion","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134118920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

His life is full of enthusiasm and energy. During his lifetime, he encountered problems similar to those faced by other Muslim scholars and thinkers in other parts of the Islamic world in the 20th century. He lived a life of struggle and harassment but never acted aggressively and never allowed his students to respond with aggression. The strong opposition of the government to religion as opposed to Nursi’s firm stand against any irreligiousness certainly made him a symbol of religious movement in Turkey. He sacrificed his whole life for the cause of Islam and fought against the corruption of society caused by enemies like atheism, materialism, colonialism, etc. through his writings collectively known as Risale-i Nur, whose teachings form the basis of one of the largest and rather influential religious orders. This paper anticipates discussing the significance of Nursi’s thoughts, teachings and his life and also explaining the importance of Nursi in the formation of ideology that helped the society of Turkey to get rid of anti-religious systems. The aim of this research paper is to explain his literary contributions that proved to be one of the most ubiquitous read materials in Turkey. Also, the paper will describe and highlight some clarity related to the writings of Nursi i.e. who wrote actually the treatises of Nursi, its propagation and popularization, who published and translated it in later times.","PeriodicalId":102671,"journal":{"name":"Analisa: Journal of Social Science and Religion","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117210863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Poem is deemed to be able to go beyond literal meaning for it expresses notion through figurative languages. Suluk Wujil is a good example of such early Javanese Islamic literary work that features spiritual quest and teaching. Suluk Wujil tells about Wujil, a convert who wanted to reach the essence of the ultimate Truth. Wujil is symbolic figure carrying an important sufistic teaching as well as the revealing socio-religious discourse in the early development of Islam in Java. This article is aimed to reveal the content of Suluk Wujil using three steps of semiotic reading, i,e, narrative schema, primary sign discovery and syntagmatic as well as paradigmatic analysis. The paper shows, firstly, that narrative scheme of Suluk Wujils is proceeded by a complaint of Wujil who failed to get into The Ultimate Truth after ten years of spiritual learning in Bonang. Ratu Wahdat or Sunan Bonang taught him the way to get spiritual enlightenment along with endorsing spiritual enlightenment of Seh Malaya (Sunan Kalijaga). Secondly, the primary sign of the Wujil Suluk is the phrase \"Arriving in Mecca\", in the last part of the text. The phrase affirms the spiritual characteristic of Suluk Wujil, with concern to a spiritual journey to very truth of Islamic spirituality. Thirdly, the paradigmatic analysis shows that there are various signs parallel and oppositional in the same time. The combination of signs forms a synthesis which leads to a deeper understanding of the significance of the signs. The syntagmatic analysis leads to an understanding of oppositional, but complementary signs.","PeriodicalId":102671,"journal":{"name":"Analisa: Journal of Social Science and Religion","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126246594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has to be understood as the science-based counter-speech against increasing anti-Muslim racism. Young Muslims are under surveillance of public and media attention in Germany. Islam is being debated in terms of regal and security politics and less within the signature of religion in terms of spirituality, aesthetics, life-world orientation, ethics, morale and religious life-styles. Hence, they are being transformed into a kind of ethnic tribe that needs special treatment. This comes along with the impending deployment of religious freedom as it is guaranteed by the German constitution. Especially right-wing nationalist and folkish consent has it that Muslims serve as a reason for redesigning religious politics in Germany that drifts away from the standards of human rights. The research findings presented here focus on juvenile Muslims as humans, pupils and citizens instead. It aims at a better understanding of their psychological and social framing. This plays an important role with regard to schooling in general and Islamic religious education in special. The findings are based upon the qualitative analysis of semi-structured interviews. This contribution also takes theological and anthropological aspects into account. In the end preliminary recommendations for changes in the educational setting are given.","PeriodicalId":102671,"journal":{"name":"Analisa: Journal of Social Science and Religion","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130360038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Analysis of the content and approach of social history-intellectuals was used to dissect the contents of the book Tazkirat al-Qulub associated with social-religious context in the policy at the beginning of the 20th century. Based on the analysis of texts it is known that Sheikh Djaho expressed his criticism towards several groups. Among the groups are (1) scholars, (2) worshippers, (3) Sufism experts, and (4) experts of the world. According to Sheikh Djaho, the four groups might include gurur (faction), when they use intelligence in their respective fields as masks, not in honesty. This study shows three points. First, the presence of Sheikh Djaho's criticism departs from the reality of the life of the clergy and layman at that time. Second, the reality of social life keeps a text alive in society. Third, the solution to social-religious reality in the early 20th century was the practice of tasawwuf.","PeriodicalId":102671,"journal":{"name":"Analisa: Journal of Social Science and Religion","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116301796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The extent to which the ideology can influence the translators’ style and choice of words that will shape the receivers’ worldviews. In the lead up to Indonesian independence, when young Muslim intellectuals began to be moved to understand their religion well, so as not to be regarded as an underdeveloped religion, two translations appear: De Heilige Qoer-an by Maulana Muhamamad Ali and Tafsir Quran Karim by Mahmud Yunus. The two translations have similarities in the writing of a modern style. Both also attempt to translate the Quran in line with the development of science, and assume there is no dispute between revelation and creation, so the works are favored by Indonesian Muslim intellectuals. However, although they have the same concept of translation, many verses are translated differently, especially the verses about the miracles of the prophets and the privileges of Isa (as). The differences are noticeable; this is much related to the ideology background of the two translators. De Heilige Qoer-an brings Ahmadiyya ideology while Tafsir Quran Karim holds to the opinion of the prominentscholars, including the scholars of Indonesia.","PeriodicalId":102671,"journal":{"name":"Analisa: Journal of Social Science and Religion","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129071102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hubbun Nabi represents the unity of many denominations whose Islamic understandings are Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah (Aswaja) of Nahdliyin in Sukoharjo. It carries a moderate religious style. This research portrayed the style of moderate religiosity which is developed by Majlis Dzikir and Sholawat Hubbun Nabi. It was a descriptive-qualitative research. The techniques of collecting data are direct observation on the activities of Majlis Dzikir and Sholawat Hubbun Nabi, in-depth interview to Kyai Abdulloh Faishol, and documentation. Data was analyzed by reducing and displaying data, then drawing conclusion. Data validation was processed through triangulation method and informant review. Sukoharjo is one of the important cities for it has long been the basis of radical and moderate movements. One of the local movements in Sukoharjo whose rapid development was Majlis Dzikir and Sholawat Hubbun Nabi. The core values carried out by Hubbun Nabi movement are moderatism and tolerance, open-mindness, respecting plurality, and anti-fanaticism. Hubbun Nabi has indeed a significant role in the process of de-radicalization of the religious movement through transforming the values into the wider community. Hubbun promotes moderate Islam, the theology of humanity as a form of the “smiling of Islam.”","PeriodicalId":102671,"journal":{"name":"Analisa: Journal of Social Science and Religion","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126451339","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, this research identifies the similarities and differences between Abdillah’s and Borrong’s thoughts as well as how their theories could contribute to solve the environmental crisis. This is a library research and the primary source of this study is a book entitled Agama Ramah Lingkungan - Perspektif Al-Qur’an (Eco-Friendly Religion - Perspective of the Qur'an) by Mujiyono Abdillah work and Borrong’s work entitled Etika Bumi Baru (Neo-Eco Ethics). The data is analyzed by the hermeneutic theory of Hans-Georg Gadamer. The research found out that environmental theology of Abdillah includes proportional theology and meta-social-system theory. While Borrong also constructs two theories of environmental theology: theocentric inclusive theology and new earth ethic. Through these theological theories, Abdillah and Borrong expect to awaken people minds so that they could restructure their relationship with the environment. Both of the authors employ different methods. While Abdillah only utilize theology as the basis of his argument, Borrong benefits from both theology as well as biblical ethics. These theories provide an invaluable contribution to be part of the solution to the environmental crisis as they could be the alternative environmental theory which change the attitude of the community in treating the environment.","PeriodicalId":102671,"journal":{"name":"Analisa: Journal of Social Science and Religion","volume":"71 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115893943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
