These include stroke and heart disease, respiratory illness and cancers. Many health-harmful emission pollutants also damage the climate and reducing emission pollution would save lives and help slow the pace of near-term climate change. This study investigated the environmental quality and its attendant effect on human health from Anglophone countries in West Africa over the period of 1990 to 2013 using panel quantile regression. The result obtained showed that the CO2 emission that can affect the health of Anglophone countries in West Africa are CO2 emissions from gaseous fuel consumption, CO2 emissions from liquid fuel consumption, CO2 emissions from residential buildings and commercial and public services, CO2 emissions from solid fuel consumption, CO2 emissions from transport. Other control variables that have influence on human health were health expenditure, mortality rate and fertility rate. Therefore, the policy makers should implement policies (like energy conservation policies) that will control emission from gaseous fuel consumption, emissions from liquid fuel consumption, emissions from residential buildings and commercial and public services, emissions from solid fuel consumption and emissions from transport. Also, health sector has to be properly cater for by spending more on health and this can only increase the health outcomes in a country.","PeriodicalId":92912,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunology and immunotherapy","volume":"25 1","pages":"89"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76314482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to clinical studies, many studies in biology focus on molecular aspects. This work aims to list the species of the Ivorian flora incriminated in pollinosis and to indicate the pollens that may have molecular similarities with those from Europe. Biological tests using food and mixed allergens were used to search for IgE in 20 patients (14 men and 6 women). The people selected were those who had lived for more than a year close to the target plants and had given their consent for the study. A grid representing cross-allergies ''Food-Pollens'' was used to search for any possible reactions. The plant species of Cote d'Ivoire suspected to be the causes of allergies were Cocos nucifera (Arecaceae), Elaeis guineensis (Arecaceae) and Petersianthus macrocarpus (Lecythidaceae). The same patient may have one or more symptoms. Most of the patients showed ENT (80%), skin (40%), lung (35%), and eye (30%) symptoms. Allergic rhinitis was representative of ENT signs, but allergic asthma has reached 10% of people suffering from lung diseases. During the flowering of Petersianthus macrocarpus, 87% of the respondents present ENT and respiratory symptoms. Biological analyses revealed 70% of patients were sensitized to trophallergens and 60% to pneumallergens. The two patients with no clinical signs were the only negative patients in the biological tests. The most common cross-reactions were between the pollens of Secale cereal ''Rye'' and the fruits of Corylus avellana ''Hazelnut''. The study shows that, the European Panels are useful to start allergological investigations but insufficient to develop a precise diagnosis in Cote d'Ivoire. Therefore, a specific panel composed of Ivorian pollens is being established.","PeriodicalId":92912,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunology and immunotherapy","volume":"36 1","pages":"78"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73593786","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the pretreatment of the raw extract can potentialize its response as in the cross-reactivity analysis. Therefore, this paper seeks to pre-treat the Suidasia pontifica extract in order to obtain protein fractions by the “salt out” method and then evaluate the presence of cross-reactivity for the Blo t 5 allergen of Blomia tropicalis. Method: Suidasia pontifica extracts were obtained by the protein precipitation with ammonium sulfate in percentages 0-20%, 20-40%, 40-60%, 60-80%, 80-100% (w/v) at 0 °C. Precipitated fractions were evaluated by protein content, characterized by electrophoresis, and applied in Western Blot and ELISA tests, with positives and negatives controls using the recombinant antigen Blo t 5. Results: With salt saturation level of 80% (w/v), it was achievable to efficiently separate proteins in the raw extract of Suidasia pontifica, resulting in a total content of 13.61 mg mL-1. The immunoassay ELISA exposed the existence of cross-reactivity for Blo t 5 allergen, for crude extract, with allergenic potency of 2.797 ng mL-1. This result was also confirmed by stains obtained in the blot in about 15-16 kDa. For fractions obtained between the percentages of 20 to 100% (w/v) of salt saturation and power was below 1.93 ng mL-1, at the border of the established limit of detection. Conclusion: The “salt out” method is efficient at obtaining concentrated fractions of proteins, as observed when applied in Suidasia pontifica, extract, this being susceptible to cross-interactions, suggesting the possibility of this mite to act as an adjunct in immunotherapy on formulations for desensitization of allergic individuals. Praziquantel (PZQ) is the current drug of choice for the treatment of human schistosomiasis. The existence of Praziquantel resistance by Schistosoma species is a threat and an alarm for strict monitoring and periodic evaluation of its efficacy. Method: We searched PubMed, PubMed Center, Google Scholar, Web of Science, Google, Science Direct, MEDLINE and proceedings of a professional association to identify studies published in English and assessed the efficacy of Praziquantel against Schistosoma mansoni infection in children. Studies reporting the efficacy of Praziquantel in both adult and children as study participants and studies which investigated the efficacy of Praziquantel combined with other antischistosomal drugs were excluded. Result: Since there was significant heterogeneity, the random effect model was used. A total of 9 papers involving 1,412 participants, that assessed the cure rate and 8 papers that assessed egg reduction rate of Praziquantel were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled cure rate of Praziquantel was 86.65% with 95% CI; 83.4-93.9. There was high heterogeneity (I2=93.4%). Subgroup analysis showed slightly higher Cure rate of Praziquantel in Amhara regional state compared to Oromia regional state (88.58% vs 84.79%). The egg reduction rate was 87.95% and 99.85% using geometric and arithmetic mean of egg count respectively. The prevalence of Schistosoma mansoni decreased from 55.77% to 11.29% after administration of Praziquantel. Conclusion: According to the result of this review, standard dose of Praziquantel was effective against Schistosoma mansoni infection among children in Ethiopia. The cure rate of Praziquantel was slightly higher in Amhara regional state compared to Oromia regional state. The drug showed a great reduction in egg count and intensity of infection.","PeriodicalId":92912,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunology and immunotherapy","volume":"17 1","pages":"61"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77217796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are a few studies on induced abortion among university students. There for this study was aimed to determine magnitude and predictors of induced abortion among Hawassa University female students. Institution based cross-sectional study was conducted from May 1-15, 2019 and 741 participants were selected from Hawassa University regular undergraduate female students. For entry and analysis EPidata and SPSS was used respectively. Association between dependent and independent variables were measured by adjusted odds ratio. Variables with p <0.25 on bivariate were used for multivariable analysis and p<0.05 were considered significant. Magnitude of induced abortion among Hawassa University students was 9.6%. From the respondents 68% of them age greater or equal to 20 (AOR=0.32, 95% CI: 0.14, 0.74) were less likely to have induced abortion compared to those respondents with age less than or equal to 19. Married respondents were 3.32 times (AOR=3.32, 95% CI: 1.51, 7.28) more likely to have induced abortion compared to not married respondents. From the respondents 95% of them who have heard only about short term contraceptive (AOR=1.95, 95% CI: 1.04, 3.66) were more likely to have induced abortion compared to those who have heard only about long term contraceptives. Respondents who have used methods to avoid pregnancy currently were 5.41 times (AOR=5.41, 95% CI: 2.73, 10.72) more likely to have induced abortion compared to who haven’t used any method. Induced abortion among Hawassa university female student was high compared to other studies. This study showed the independent predictors of abortion among Hawassa University students were age, marital status, type of contraceptive they know and using any method to avoid pregnancy currently.","PeriodicalId":92912,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunology and immunotherapy","volume":"68 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89365524","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is currently a global pandemic with high mortality rate in those with severe disease. Lack of effective vaccine and approved drug for treatment created a disastrous condition among the global communities. This study was designed as a step ahead in the path of protein-based subunit vaccine development. The primary amino acid sequence of SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein was used to design a protein subunit vaccine construct. The molecular weight of vaccine protein was 58.4 kDa with a total number of 8170 atoms and 584 amino acid residues. The theoretical pI was found to be 8.54 showing its slightly basic nature while the total number of negative and positive charged residues were 29 and 33 respectively. The peptide vaccine construct has 147 (25.17%) polar residues and 375 (64.21%) hydrophobic residues. The vaccine construct has cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL), helper T lymphocyte (HTL) and B cell epitopes of varying lengths having great potential to stimulate high levels of IFN-γ production. It has potent antigenic properties but lacked allergenicity. It is stable and have a good binding affinity for the TLR-4 receptor. In general, this modelling applied a series of immunoinformatics tools in a sequential manner to find an effective vaccine that may be used effectively in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic. This modelling, however, needs real life experimental validation to prove the workability of the computational work.","PeriodicalId":92912,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunology and immunotherapy","volume":"67 1","pages":"42"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88923218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Expose to dampness microbiota (DM) in buildings is a risk factor for newly onset asthma and other respiratory problems. This exposure increases the rate of upper and lower respiratory tract infections because the function of the cilia cells and the integrity of mucosal layer becomes compromised. The breach of the first defense barrier of innate immunity leads to susceptibility to inhaled impurities and pathogens. Dampness and mould-associated asthma may present with several clinical peculiarities. This asthma may be resistant to treatment, the symptoms may exacerbate during periods with increased outdoor air humidity and rainfalls and this asthma may be associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It has been generally recognized that persons sensitized to DM should avoid new and repeated exposure to moldy environment. This recommendation is important especially during the current SARS-CoV2 pandemic.","PeriodicalId":92912,"journal":{"name":"International journal of immunology and immunotherapy","volume":"7 1","pages":"38"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75253484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
