The usefulness of this material is borne out of the ease of processing; it’s readily available at low or no cost, and less abrasive to equipment. Literature and research reports have shown that rubber seed shell has gained applications in the adhesive industry as reinforcing additive, in electrode manufacturing, as filler in polymer composites, as sorbent in the uptake of heavy metals during waste water treatments, as starting material in the production carbon materials for value added products for the industry. However, there are still outstanding prospects in the utilization of this material in various areas of polymer technology such as a lignocellulosic source for the production of biodegradable foams, polymer gels, second generation bio-plastics and biofuels, and as surfactants. This review examines the results of a retrospective and prospective study in polymer technology of the latent properties inherent in rubber seed shell with particular emphasis on its utilization in polymer technology.","PeriodicalId":92218,"journal":{"name":"International journal of advances in science, engineering and technology","volume":"26 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82324964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also presents the in-depth of a single layer winding of a three-phase motor that was re-design to the six-phase split winding layout which was practically explained to the understanding of both the engineers and the technicians who normally find it difficult with windings of electrical machines. The optimized re-designed SPIM is presented in the MATLAB/Simulink environment to perform a comparative assessment of the different phase loss scenarios of the six-phase configuration with respect to the six-phase healthy case and its conventional three-phase induction motor. The result shows a comparative benefit of the six-phase induction motor over the three-phase induction motor; in such that in the near future because of its effective way to provide a higher reliability and sustainability under the loss of phase/phases condition it will be practically applied in the power driven devices/machines like in the area of Electric Vehicles, etc.","PeriodicalId":92218,"journal":{"name":"International journal of advances in science, engineering and technology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81800584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It emphasized on the semiconductor material such as Gallium arsenide (GaAs). The Gallium arsenide semiconductor material was used as a group III-V compound for metal-oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) modeling. The band-gap energy structures were analyzed by using material parameters such as Varshni parameters, temperature and doping concentrations. Then, an electrical characteristic was carried out depending on the current and voltage relationship. The current flowing in the device is associated with a gate voltage applied to the device. From this paper, the analysis of MOSFET modeling was investigated using mathematical equations and MATLAB simulation.","PeriodicalId":92218,"journal":{"name":"International journal of advances in science, engineering and technology","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75636450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wet chemical precipitation method was used to prepare silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs). The Ag NPs were employed for photo catalytic degradation of Congo red (CR) dye in aqueous medium. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) investigation shows agglomerated form of Ag NPs. The average sizes of agglomerations are below 600 nm. Energy dispersive X-rays spectroscopy (EDX) and ultraviolet light visible spectroscopy (UV/Vis) also established the formation of Ag NPs. The photo-degradation study reveals that Ag NPs degraded by 73% of CR dye in 480 min. Catalytic dosage study shows the dye degradation was increased vice versa as increased the amount of Ag NPs and then almost level off after 0.025 g of catalyst. In pH study it was observed that degradation of CR dye increased as pH increased. The recovered catalyst study also significantly degraded the CR dye.","PeriodicalId":92218,"journal":{"name":"International journal of advances in science, engineering and technology","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82396686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The net radiation was evaluated using different forms of Auto-Regressive models – AR {p} where p is the number of orders of the auto-regressive. The analysis showed that AR {4} performed best in all the regions and stations investigated. Regionally, AR {4} has maximum values of coefficient of determination of 0.8127 in HUM, 0.7876 in SHH, 0.5765 in SHD and 0.7973 in SAR regions. It can be concluded that the higher the order of auto-regressive models, the more accurate estimation of net radiation it will give irrespective of location in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":92218,"journal":{"name":"International journal of advances in science, engineering and technology","volume":"52 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75972458","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper estimates the pulse width (PW) and the pulse repetition period (PRP) of LFM signal using instantaneous powers. The instantaneous powers were obtained either using time-marginal or power maxima approximated from a modified version of the Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD). The instantaneous power was also gotten directly from the signal by multiplication with its conjugate. Measurement was then carried out when the instantaneous power is ‘ON’ (the PW) and when it is ‘OFF’ (the PRP) at carefully selected thresholds. Thereafter, the mWVD-based algorithm was tested in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) at various signal-to-noise ratios. Results obtained during the test showed that the time marginal method emerged the best with minimum signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of -5dB followed closely by the direct method with minimum SNR of -1dB at different thresholds. The results show that the proposed algorithm based on this modified WVD can be deployed in the practical field to determine radar’s performance and function","PeriodicalId":92218,"journal":{"name":"International journal of advances in science, engineering and technology","volume":"58 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80170479","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Edu","doi":"10.37121/jase.v2i2.66","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.37121/jase.v2i2.66","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper, efficiency analysis of small sized generators in Nigeria was considered. Experimental analyses were carried out on two (2) different samples of generators tagged “S” and “T” at different loading conditions (20%, 40%, 60% etc. of ratings) to ascertain the generators’ efficiencies as well as the maximum true power that could be drawn out from the generators. The experimental results are compared with the manufacturers ratings specified on the name plate of the generators. The results indicated an average efficiency of 44.9% and 55.7% for “T” and “S” respectively an indication that generator “S” is more efficient that “T”. The results also showed that the values of the power factor indicated on the generators are inaccurate as none of the generators could give the maximum power as indicated on their name plates based on the experimental analysis carried out. The generators selected were able to provide adequate power to the selected loads with efficiencies not up to 100% of the expected rated value of the generators. For generator “S” it was observed that the efficiency decreases from the highest rating to the lowest rating. Conclusively, this result suggests that portable generators dealers are taking advantage of the energy crises to importing generators not up to specifications to the Nigerian market at the expense of naïve customers. This paper recommends that proper standards and measures be put in place and enforced by the relevant authority for conformity of standards to all imported generators to save guard and protect the interest of potential customers and Nigerians.","PeriodicalId":92218,"journal":{"name":"International journal of advances in science, engineering and technology","volume":"58 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88033468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This requires collection and analysis of the data obtained from Transmission Company of Nigeria with the aid of PSAT 2.10.1 / MATLAB SIMULINK using Newton-Raphson power flow algorithm and also to determine the effectiveness of PMU when introduced in our power system network. 12 buses and 3 Generators system were considered for the studied. This was achieved by collecting relevant transmission parameters for 330kV line and was simulated on PSAT 2.10.1 and MATLAB 2015a using Newton-Raphson power flow algorithm. The work involved an offline and online analysis. For the offline analysis the admittance / impedance matrix for Y-bus and bus voltage for pre-outage was obtained via the power flow analysis and change in impedance for the lines were calculated. These values were further normalised in order to reduce the value to a row echelon form. Then for the online analysis; the change in phase angle from the Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) online simulation for pre-outage and also post-outage was calculated and a normalised column matrix was gotten. Finally, the effectiveness of the line outage detection was graphically represented using MATLAB software to plot the values of the normalised values of the offline and online analysis; i.e., by comparing the normalised form of the offline and online values. These results clearly show that PMUs gives an accurate monitoring and total observability when introduced in Nigeria power system.","PeriodicalId":92218,"journal":{"name":"International journal of advances in science, engineering and technology","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84351991","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
