Complexity of vehicle electronics is becoming a greater issue and often caused by more interfaces, more connections, more displays, more user demand features and more suppliers. This means there is a great need to supply system updates to ensure higher quality and improve functionality. This paper introduces a new solution for vehicle updates that will help OEMs to reduce cost, reduce recalls, increase quality, ease vehicle updates and take better control of vehicles fleet in the market. This new solution consists of updating vehicle ECUs over the air without the need of a physical connection to the vehicle. We are presenting Fotamotive architecture, process flow chart, system components, vehicle cloud management, simulation and results.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. This design sought to make each actuating strut on the tetrahedral robot an independent unit. This allows for easy reconfiguration of the robot and better realizes the conceptualized goals for tetrahedral robotics. Both the electronic hardware and embedded software used for this implementation will be covered in detail. The performance gains of this implementation as opposed to a centralized control model will also be discussed.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. Over the past few years, Twitter has climbed to over one billion active users. On average, they send out 340 million tweets per day. That produces a massive amount of information, calculated to be in excess of 150 gigabytes of data per year. This research, as reported in this paper, focuses on creating an Intelligent surveillance lifecycle architecture for epidemiological data clustering using Twitter and novel genetic algorithm (ISLA/EDC). The purpose of the architecture is to develop concepts and techniques such that epidemiologists can be able to more efficiently and effectively determine the locations of disease outbreaks as they occur. They do not have to rely on the illnesses being directly reported to them. The technical solution of the architecture provides medical tasks that support strategic decision making and operational business processes. The design of the architecture is based on Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). In a SOA environment, the technical solution develops new intelligent concepts of integrating approaches of search methodologies, information extraction, data clustering, genetic algorithm, and intelligent agents. A prototype is created and examined in order to validate the concepts.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. Through a server vLab provides multiple and concurrent accesses to FPGA design facilities in a laboratory located at Northern Illinois University. By using parallel communication channel (EPP) and MS Windows Remote Desktop (RDP) vLab is shown to provide a high speed, multi-access, parallel processing services to distance applications. vLab carries two client interface viewers (GUI) for each user, one to provide the image of the physical FPGA board located in a remote lab, and the other one directly utilizes the FPGA chip capabilities, customized according to the users' application needs. Because it uses RDP capability vLab inherits the benefits of resource (e.g. files) sharing between the server and client environments. vLab has also the capability of handling multiple boards (processors) for a single user without adding any extra hardware.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. Students continue to face several difficulties when learning programming [1] and the lack of efficient tools to overcome such difficulties can affect the students' motivation [2]. Over time, this creates a drastic and negative impact in their attitude towards `learning programming,' which is undesirable for student success in engineering education. To rectify this, a suitable approach that can motivate students needs to be developed to change students' mindset towards learning programming. Student motivation is considered imperative as it is directly influences a student's perseverance and dedication towards accomplishing an objective [3]. Rather than viewing programming courses as a means to complete coursework requirements, students should be made to realize the `power of programming.' Learning and gaining experience in computer programming necessarily involves the development of computational/critical thinking and problem solving skills. All these skills sharpen the minds of the students while simultaneously opening up multiple job prospects for them upon graduation. To this end, to facilitate interactive and fun-filled learning, this research employs a learner-centric, user-friendly Virtual Environment (VE) to teach programming concepts. In doing so, this research aims to make a paradigm shift in the `approach to teaching and learning programming.'","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. Literature contains a variety of novel techniques for the isolated word recognition and spotting. Most of these techniques are based on pattern recognition and similarity measures. This paper amalgamates the use of different techniques that includes wavelet transform, feature extraction and Euclidean distance. Based on the acoustic features, the proposed system is capable of identifying and localizing a target (test) word in a continuous speech of any length. Wavelet transform is used for the time-frequency representation and filtration of speech signal. Only high intensity frequency components are passed to feature extraction and matching process resulting robust performance in terms of matching as well as computational cost.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. The hand, with its nerve endings has the capacity for the richest tactile feedback with excellent positioning capabilities. The existing hand control methods used in controlling smart prostheses have many drawbacks and need improvements. This paper proposes a new technique of controlling slippage, which is one of the major drawbacks for a prosthetic hand. A fuzzy logic control algorithm with multiple rules is designed along with a modified tactile sensory system for feedback. The slippage control acts as a complementary control system to the EMG or EEG based position control. A 5 Degrees of Freedom (DOF) hand was used which has one micro servo motor as actuator for each finger. A force sensing resistor is modified and used as a slippage sensor. First we use a reference EMG signal for getting the 5 DOF hand to grip an object, using position control. Then a slip is induced and we see the slippage control strategies work to hold the grasp. The results based on the plain sensory system and the modified system are discussed. Finally the advantages of the entire slippage control system are highlighted.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings].
