This location is a habitat stopover for migratory birds and also it is a putative area for constructing wind farm. The radar monitoring is performed in three steps consist of data acquisition, blip detections, and target tracking. Blip detection is performed in radR platform and tracking is performed using developed particle filter in MATLAB. The radar monitoring system is used to process data collected in migration period of fall and spring 2011.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. For this purpose an electronic voting machine EVM is introduced in this paper which replaced conventional methods of voting i-e manual voting. Proposed machine in this paper is faster, efficient, and reliable and error free as compared to manual voting system which is slower, poses full day fatigue on people and chances of error are greater. Its main feature is its ease to operate. Voter polls a vote very easily and final results are displayed in no time by just pressing a result button, after the elections have been conducted.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. This issue is threatening the avian life especially migratory birds and bats. Avian monitoring techniques can be used to detect bird and bats, assess their activity, and make intelligent decision for construction of wind farms. In this paper, an IR monitoring approach is used for monitoring birds and bats in an area potential for future construction of wind turbines. As there is no a priori database of images for local birds/bats, clustering is used as an effective technique to group different avian categories. Fuzzy C Means is developed in this application to cluster the targets into birds, bats, and insects groups. The results are then compared with a hard Ant Clustering Algorithm. The number of created clusters and number of individuals in each cluster are then compared.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. Though acoustic communication is very popular in this kind of communication system, the laser communication would be the best way for transmitting and receiving signal or data in deep oceanic environment due to higher bandwidth and security. This system would be suitable to transfer intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) data between ships and from ship to shore, and could be used by the Navy and the US Marine Corps. In this paper, we investigate the turbulence effect of sea water and clean water on underwater laser propagation for different temperatures and other variables. As the underwater laser links are being considered for naval applications, we demonstrate a novel Orthogonal On-Off Keying modulation technique [8], which is also bandwidth efficient. At the received side, the data is recovered by means of code correlation. The proposed technique offers error control coding and synchronization on the same platform. Experimental results, based on LabVIEW and MATLAB simulation, are presented in terms of Fourier analysis to illustrate the concept.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. In this work, heart rate (HR) at three different levels (low, medium and high heart rates) is used as a measure of stress and a common speech utterance in each case is employed to correlate stress with HR. Using a database consisting of utterances and their corresponding heart rates and other physiological measurements indicative of stress for the speakers, utterances of the word eye for a speaker at low, medium and high heart rates are isolated. From these short utterances, features based on auditorily significant areas are extracted for analysis. Spectral features that are perceptually significant, i.e., those above global masking threshold in each band, appear to distinguish speech at three different heart rates at a better rate than the commonly used cepstral features or the total energy in each Bark frequency band. Between the two pattern matching techniques used, namely, dynamic time warping and neural network, the latter showed a higher accuracy in classifying the heart rates from all the features employed. Based on the small set of training and test utterances, the neural network based feature classification technique demonstrated the capability of the proposed set of speech features in classifying physiological stress.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. The below and above threshold analyses show that this kind of laser will be lasing at the Bragg wavelength independent of the grating gap length with an output spectrum similar to those of λ/ 4 phase-shifted DFB lasers. However, the proposed structure shows a uniform photon and carrier distribution in the grating gap region, and therefore, spatial hole burning, which is the bottle-neck for the phase-shifted DFB laser design, is greatly suppressed. By simulation, it is demonstrated that with the same grating coupling efficiency, the proposed laser will share similar threshold current and efficiency as those of λ/ 4 phase-shifted DFB lasers, but as the biased current increases, reaching 100 mA the former keeps the single mode operation with more than 30 dB side mode suppression ratio while the λ/ 4 phase-shifted laser becomes multi-mode. Fabrication of the proposed laser structure does not involve extra complexity. It is much easier to implement compared to the other techniques used to suppress the spatial hole burning effect.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings].
