This paper looks at developing a design for an Internet based “Smart Controller” for use in a residential sprinkler system to solve some problems that traditional controllers inherit. With the introduction of Web based dynamic control brings new expense to the overall system however, this project yields a controller that would be very competitively priced among the current residential market for irrigation controllers while opening a new window of opportunity into water management and conservation.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. However, the interaction with this information needs to comply with the U.S. federal regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Due to the complexity of healthcare regulations, it's not easy to deploy a complaint system, especially for heterogeneous systems designed to allow data transfer and communication. Web services can be used to solve the problem of incompatible systems intercommunication; however, a generic model for HIPAA enforcement is required. In this paper we propose a generic HIPAA complaint privacy access control model for web services that can be easily applied to any existing covered entity web services.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. Many initiatives have been taken by Government of India to promote and introduce ICT in agricultural field. On comparing to its counter developing countries like China, Japan, etc. where advanced ICT technologies like IOT are being implemented in agriculture sector, we find that for India still there is a long road ahead to travel. This paper proposes a cloud deployment model “Agri-assistant”, which provides agriculture related information assistance to Indian farmers living in rural areas, facing financial and connectivity constraints. The model leverages the existing Government services and mobile service to provide a solution to existing scenario with minimum burden on farmer's pocket.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. The embedded system design aims for hardware optimization by saving arithmetic resources, streaming pipeline performance and software-aid computation and integration. The challenge of exploiting the system full potential with pseudo-parallel computation on multiple fetal ECG data packets is also examined.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. These diseases usually appear as cotton wall spots, yellowish exudates and drusens (macula degeneration). Information about illness severity can be inferred by the measurement of the sizes of the exudates and drusens and comparing them to the retina background size. In this paper, we have proposed robust algorithm for automatic exudates and drusens detection, segmentation, and measurement on 2D retinal images. The applied methods we suggest for exudates and drusens measuring are mathematic (labeling function) and numerical methods. Numerical methods have more sophisticated calculation steps and can be used to approximate more complicated area of exudates using a poly Area function. In our algorithms, prior to measuring exudates and drusens (AMD), a preprocessing takes place, in which first exudates and drusens detection and segmentation were implemented. For these implemented processes, we applied preprocessing operations, including image filtration, correction of non-uniform illumination, and color contrast enhancement, and then the combined approaches for image segmentation and classification were implemented using: two methods of texture, an adaptive threshold, and morphological operators. Moreover, we introduce methods to eliminate the optic disc completely for exudates detection and measuring. After applying these approaches to a number of images provided from ophthalmologists as well as Drive database, this automated diagnostic algorithm resulted in more accurate yields of exudates and Drusens detection and measurements especially for low intensity and less color contrast images from non-dilated eye pupils. This automated algorithm helps ophthalmologists monitor the progression of diabetic retinopathy.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. These applications are big data problems that must be processed in real-time using computationally intensive signal processing algorithms. The Reconfigurable Ultrasonic System-on-Chip Hardware (RUSH) platform, developed for this study, utilizes hardware/software co-design to allow flexibility in system development for these real-time ultrasonic signal processing applications. In this paper, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is designed for the RUSH platform which allows users to visualize and capture ultrasonic signals in one, two and three dimensions. Furthermore, a TCP based platform-independent client-server protocol has been established for communication between the RUSH system and the user.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. The makespan of the tasks to be scheduled is the same, in the computational grid. Tasks to be assigned to processing elements are randomly generated and are mapped to processors. Scheduling is done, considering real-time environment and mapping is achieved via biased and unbiased mapping of tasks to processors. Students located at remote sites were able to seamlessly conduct hands-on experiments and collaborate with their classmates. A survey was conducted among the students who enrolled in the “Introduction to Computer Networks laboratory” course at Illinois Institute of Technology. The results show that students can complete the lab experiments efficiently, and the remote framework does not impose any barrier in conducting experiments and consequently does not degrade the quality of their education. The system developed in our institution can be used for other laboratory courses such as computer networking security and system administration.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. The motivation of this research is to have an easily scalable method of synthesizing fluorescent dye doped core-shell organosilicate nanoparticles with excellent size uniformity and water dispersibility. Here, we report on the synthesis of such nanoparticles essentially through all wet chemical processes, combining the approach of polymer collapse to first synthesize the fluorescent cores followed by the well-known Stober's process to grow conformal silica shells over nanoparticle cores. Such a core-shell approach is expected to significantly reduce dye leakage from the nanoparticles over long term storage thereby improving the reliability and biocompatibility of these nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized to be within 15-20 nm size range and exhibited excellent long term stability when dispersed in aqueous solutions. Further, because of the small size of these nanoparticles, these nanoparticles were effectively internalized by biological cells through electroporation techniques.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings].
