La ensenanza de esta habilidad, constituida por nueve pasos, se realizo en el aula de la escuela de educacion especial donde estan escolarizados. Los resultados muestran la eficacia de esta estrategia; los alumnos alcanzan entre el 88.9 y el 100% de los pasos planteados. Los resultados de la validez social de los maestros indican que el video prompting es una estrategia fiable y facil de utilizar en los entornos educativos. Finalmente, se discuten las implicaciones para el uso del video prompting y la necesidad de seguir implementando practicas basadas en la evidencia en nuestros entornos educativos. EnglishAbstract Video-based interventions (i.e., video prompting) have been identified as effective practices when learning daily living skills. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the video prompting strategy to teach three students, aged 8 to 10 years old, with intellectual disability to put the jacket on using a multiple baseline. For teaching purposes, this skill was divided into nine steps that were taught in their special education school classroom. Results demonstrate the video prompting effectiveness, with students successfully engaging in 88.9 to 100% of the steps. Video prompting usefulness and manageability within educational settings was also stated through social validity results. These beliefs influence academic achie- \u0000vement. However, there is little information on whether \u0000children with dyslexia have a fixed mindset. The aim of \u0000this study was to investigate this issue. Thirty-two children \u0000were recruited (16 with dyslexia and 16 with typical reading \u0000development) and were compared using two measures of \u0000mindset. The results showed that FMs were more common \u0000in children with dyslexia than in their typically developing \u0000peers. However, no significant association was found \u0000between the two measures of mindset in the children with \u0000dyslexia. Se analizaron un total de 291 revistas de la catego- ria Developmental Psychology del JCR (SSCI) y del SJCR. El 21.7% de las revistas de la categoria Developmental Psychology de la WoS y el 16.1% de Scopus son clasifi- cadas tambien en areas relacionadas con la salud, como Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis Psycho- logy, Pediatrics y Rehabilitation. La categoria mayormente representada es Clinical Psychology, con un 20.3% de revistas en el JCR (SSCI) y con un 10.1% de revistas en el SJCR. Se puede concluir que existe una relacion entre la Psicologia del desarrollo −normativo y no normativo– y el ambito de la salud. Esta relacion ha de ser tenida en consideracion a la hora de planificar el itinerario de salud de los grados de psicologia que habilitan para el acceso al Master en Psicologia General Sanitaria EnglishThis study used journals in the Development Psycho- logy category of the WoS service and Scopus database to investigate whether there is an association between developmental psychology and health. We analysed 291 journals in the Developmental Psychology category of the JCR (SSCI) and the SJCR. In total, 21.7% of the WoS Developmental Psychology journals and 16.1% of the Scopus journals are also classified in health-related areas such as Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis Psychology, Pediatrics, and Rehabilitation. The Clinical Psychology category has the highest representation, with 20.3% of journals in the JCR (SSCI) and 10.1% of journals in the SJCR. The results suggest that there is an asso- ciation between developmental psychology (normative and non-normative) and the field of health. En este estudio se lleva- ron a cabo analisis separados para hombres y mujeres. Se encontro que los hombres experimentan una frecuencia mayor de violencia que las mujeres y que la percepcion de apoyo de las amistades se asocio de forma inversa con varios tipos de victimizacion. Por el contrario, en las muje- res el apoyo social de ambas fuentes tuvo poca relacion con la violencia experimentada. Los resultados se discuten en virtud de utilidad para guiar los estudios futuros sobre el tema y las intervenciones de prevencion en el ambito mexicano y latinoamericano EnglishThis study was motivated by the phenomenon of gender differences in dating violence, the importance of social support in this setting, and the relative scarcity of studies on dating violence in Mexico and Latin America. It analy- sed the association between perceived support from family and friends and dating violence victimization in a sample of 679 college students from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico (n = 679; women = 67%; mean age = 20.5, SD = 2.1). Mean and women were analysed separately. Men experienced violence more frequently than women. Social support from friends was associated with various types of victimization in men. In contrast, support from family and friends was weakly associated with violence experienced by women. Recent advances in cognitive neuroscience are contributing to distinguishing between the cognitive and affective components of ToM and empathy, thus defining a conceptual relationship between them. This study analysed the impact of cognitive ToM, affective ToM, cognitive empathy, and affective empathy on the social acceptance of children. It also investigated the relative contribution of these factors in pre-school, primary school, and secondary school children. There were 127 participants in three age groups: 4 to 5 years (N = 31), 7 to 8 years (N = 38), and 12 to 14 years (N = 58). They were administered a selection of ToM tasks, the Basic Empathy Scale, and a sociometric questionnaire. The results confirmed a positive association between affective empathy and peer acceptance in the 4 to 5 year age group, a negative association between ToM and peer acceptance in the 7 to 8 year age group, and a positive association between cognitive empathy and peer acceptance in the 12 to 14 year age group. The attribution of mental states and empathy is useful in the perception of signals in the social environment and its appropriate use allows adaptation to the group. Metodo: Se incluyeron tres grupos de 100 participantes: viudos, separados y un grupo control (50% hombres, edad entre 30 y 60 anos). Se usaron dos cuestionarios para evaluar las variables psicologicas y la tecnica de inmunodifusion radial para medir la cantidad de IgA. Resultados: Los viudos y divorciados mostraron menor cantidad de IgA y mas depresion y enfado que el grupo control. Se encontro una relacion inversa entre IgA y las variables psicologicas. Las mujeres mostraron mas depresion tras el divorcio mientras que los hombres estaban mas deprimidos tras enviudar. En ambas situaciones, los hombres mostraron mas enfado. Conclusiones: Este estudio muestra la interrelacion entre indicadores psicologicos y fisiologicos y la influencia del sexo tras la perdida de pareja. EnglishAbstract Background: This work analyzed whether psychological variables (depression and anger) and physiological variables (Immunoglobulin A) are related to each other in the context of partner loss, focusing on the influence of sex. Method: Three groups of 100 participants were included: widowed, divorced, and a control group (50% men; age between 30 and 60 years). To assess psychological variables, two inventories were used and the technique of radial immunodiffusion was used to measure IgA. Results: Widowed and divorced people appeared to be less healthy, more depressed, and angrier than the control group. IgA and psychological variables were inversely related. Women appeared to be more depressed after divorce while men were more depressed after being widowed. Men were angrier in both situations. La presente investigacion tuvo tres objetivos principales: (a) estudiar la relacion entre las habilidades sociales y el autoconcepto en estudiantes universitarios pertenecientes a una institucion tecnologica del estado de Jalisco, Mexico, (b) comparar ambas variables segun el sexo de los alumnos, y (c) identificar la fuerza de las dimensiones del autoconcepto en la prediccion de las habilidades sociales. El muestreo utilizado fue no probabilistico incidental y se conformo por un total de 482 estudiantes. Los resultados indicaron que: (a) existe una correlacion media y positiva entre las variables del estudio, (b) existen diferencias significativas por sexo en la puntuacion total del autoconcepto y en los factores emocional, fisico y academico laboral, y (c) mediante un analisis de regresion lineal multiple, se obtuvo un modelo que refiere a los factores emocional, fisico y social del autoconcepto como principales variables predictoras de las habilidades sociales. Con estos resultados se constata la asociacion entre las variables implicadas en el estudio y reafirma la idea de que en las personas (especialmente en los jovenes) el autoconcepto es un aspecto que perfila el desarrollo de sus habilidades sociales y, por ende, de las caracteristicas de su comunicacion interpersonal y su ajuste psicologico al entorno. Finalmente, el estudio recomienda fomentar actividades que incrementen el autoconcepto de las personas y prevenir con ello un posible deficit en sus habilidades sociales. EnglishSocial skills and self-concept are two constructs that research in psychology has related to mental health; a negative self-concept or a poor command of social skills have been typified as risk factors for various psychosocial problems. This research had three main objectives: (a) to study the relationship between social skills and self-concept in university students belonging to a technological institution of the state of Jalisco, Mexico, (b) to compare both variables according to the sex of the students, and (c) identify the strength of self-concept dimensions in the prediction of social skills. The sampling used was incidental non-probabilistic and was formed by a total of 482 students. The results indicated that (a) there is a medium and positive correlation between the variables of the study, (b) there are significant differences by sex in the total score of the Self-concept and in the emotional, physical and academic-work factors, and (c) through a Multiple linear regression analysis, a model was obtained that refers to the emotional, physical and social factors of Self-concept as the main predictors of Social Skills. Investigaciones recientes han sugerido que ciertas habilidades numericas basicas, como la medida en tareas de comparacion de arabigos, son buenas predictoras del rendimiento de los ninos y ninas en multiplicaciones de un solo digito. Por otro lado, otros estudios encuentran que ciertas variables emocionales, como la ansiedad ante las matematicas, afectan al aprendizaje de los hechos aritmeticos. El objetivo de esta investigacion es estudiar el papel de varias habilidades numericas basicas junto con factores emocionales en la resolucion de multiplicaciones de un solo digito en un estudio longitudinal con ninos y ninas en edad escolar. La ansiedad ante las matematicas, la ansiedad-rasgo, la comparacion numerica no-simbolica, la comparacion de arabigos y la fluidez al resolver sumas y restas se evaluaron en ninos y ninas espanoles de primer, segundo y tercer curso (N = 139, hombres = 66, mujeres = 73, edades 6 a 9). Tres anos despues se evaluo la fluidez al resolver multiplicaciones. Los resultados mostraron que la fluidez en multiplicaciones fue predicha significativamente por el rendimiento en las tareas de comparacion de arabigos y fluidez en restas, lo que respalda hallazgos anteriores. Entre las variables de ansiedad, la puntuacion de los participantes en la ansiedad-rasgo resulto ser un predictor marginalmente significativo, no asi la ansiedad ante las matematicas. Recent research has suggested that some basic numerical skills, such as those measured in Arabic numeral comparison tasks (i.e. access to numerical representations from symbols), are good predictors of children’s performance on single-digit multiplication. On the other hand, emotional variables, such as math anxiety, play a role in learning arithmetic facts. The aim of the current study was to study the role of several basic numerical cognitive skills and emotional factors in single-digit multiplication solving in a longitudinal study including school-age children. Math anxiety, trait anxiety, non-symbolic numerical comparison, Arabic numeral comparison, and subtraction fluency were assessed in first-, second-, and third-grade Spanish children, (N = 141; boys = 66, girls = 75; age range: 6 – 9 years). We assessed multiplication fluency 3 years later. The results showed that performance on Arabic numeral comparison and subtraction tasks significantly predicted performance on multiplication tasks. El estudio involucro una muestra de 219 participantes con edades comprendidas entre los 18 y los 59 anos, los cuales informaron de sus habilidades percibidas en inteligencia emocional mediante la escala Trait-Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS) y de la probabilidad de participar en comportamientos de riesgo en el ambito de la salud mediante la escala Domain-Specific Risk-Taking Scale (DOSPERT-30). Nuestros resultados revelaron que las habilidades de claridad y reparacion emocional se relacionan de manera inversa con las conductas de riesgo en el ambito de salud. Ademas, una relacion directa entre las habilidades de atencion y claridad emocional, y entre claridad y reparacion emocional fue observada. Por ultimo, la edad de los participantes fue inversamente relacionada con la asuncion de conductas de riesgo, y diferencias de genero fueron encontradas en atencion emocional (mujeres mostraron mayores niveles de atencion a las emociones). De estos resultados se deriva que las habilidades en inteligencia emocional percibida (claridad emocional y reparacion emocional) pueden funcionar como amortiguador en la asuncion de riesgos que atentan contra la salud y la integridad fisica, tales como mantener relaciones sexuales sin proteccion, conducir un vehiculo en estado de embriaguez, la conducir un vehiculo en estado de embriaguez, la obesidad, etc. Se discuten las implicaciones clinicas del entrenamiento en estas habilidades. EnglishThe aim of the present study was to investigate the association between perceived emotional intelligence and the probability of engaging in risk behaviour in the setting of health. The study sample comprised 219 participants aged between 18 and 59 years. Their perceived emotional intelligence skills were assessed using the Trait-Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS), and their probability of involvement in health-related risk behaviour was assessed using the Domain-Specific Risk-Taking Scale (DOSPERT-30). The results show that emotional clarity and repair skills were inversely associated with risk behaviour. Furthermore, a direct association was found between emotional attention and clarity skills, and between emotional clarity and repair. The age of the participants was inversely associated with engaging in risk behaviour. Finally, gender differences were found in emotional attention (the female participants had higher levels of attention to emotions). In conclusion, perceived emotional intelligence skills (clarity and repair) can act as protective factors against risk-taking behaviour that threatens health and physical safety, such as having unprotected sex, drunk driving, obesity, and so on.
