The adaptation of returnees is very important to play their full role in innovation. Guided by the theory of social capital, 23 young teachers who had returned to China for 2 - 10 years were selected to study their academic adaptation. It is found that there is structural dislocation in the distribution of relationship network among young returnee teachers. In order to overcome this problem, young returnee teachers adopt the strategies of letting nature take its course, expanding their interpersonal relationship and conversion their relationships. It is necessary for university to give the social support and the internationalization of academic management to help the returnee teachers academic adaptation.","PeriodicalId":90814,"journal":{"name":"Creative education","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70429470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using a Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach, the paper calculates the efficiency of public expenditure on education for Benin as well as for the other countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) in order to highlight the differences in the efficiency of the use of public resources in education. The paper uses public expenditure on education as an input and the gross enrolment ratio in primary school, the primary school completion rate and the gross tertiary enrolment ratio as outputs for the DEA model. The results indicate that the efficiency score of public expenditure on education in Benin is 0.88. This shows that there is a high degree of efficiency in education. Nevertheless, this result indicates that there is room for improvement in the efficiency of public expenditure on education of 12% for Benin. Also, a comparison of Benin’s efficiency score with those of the other WAEMU countries shows that Benin’s score is outstripped by Togo’s (0.93) and Guinea-Bissau’s (0.95). The efficiency scores for Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger are estimated at 0.68, 0.67, 0.58, 0.56 and 0.51 respectively. The paper suggests that in WAEMU, Benin could draw inspiration from the management of public expenditure on education in Togo and Guinea-Bissau to better identify best practices and policies to improve the efficiency of its public expenditure on education.","PeriodicalId":90814,"journal":{"name":"Creative education","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135649359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, in previous research, the role of the elderly has been chiefly as consultants or testers, and they rarely actively participate in the design process. This study integrates steps and methods based on experience based co-design and design thinking, developing an elder and youth co-creation model. This model is applied to the medication-assistance design closely related to the needs of the elderly, exploring the impact and benefits brought by the elder and youth co-creation model for both the elderly and young designers. In this research, nine elder individuals, ranging in age from 61 to 74, and eight graduate students, primarily from design fields, participated in the co-creation workshops. This study implements the elder and youth co-creation model in the form of workshops, organizing five co-creation workshops to address the existing medication problems of the elderly and redesign medication assistance. Focus group interviews are conducted after the end of the workshop. The results show that through this model, young designers can enhance empathy with users, discover the potential needs of target customers, and design products that meet the needs of the target customer group. Furthermore, the model can enhance the confidence level of the elderly in creativity and serve as a means to present the abilities and experiences of the elderly.","PeriodicalId":90814,"journal":{"name":"Creative education","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136306109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of the review is to explore the main methodological approaches used to research leadership in the field of education. To identify suitable empirical research studies a bounded search was carried out into specific bibliographic databases such as, “Educational Resources Information Centre” (ERIC), and “The British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society” (BELMAS). In total, 23 empirical studies on educational leadership were sampled from 11 peer-reviewed journals. The review employed a quantitative approach to analyse the sample studies especially focusing on three sets of variables: 1) research designs, 2) sample size, and 3) techniques of data analysis employed in the selected studies. The findings suggest that from 2016 onward mixed methods and case study research designs have become increasingly important in the field of educational leadership. Interviews, observations, focus groups and document analysis have been the most common data collection methods in the qualitative studies, while surveys and close-ended questionnaires have been dominant methods to collect quantitative data in this area. The average numbers of participants involved in the qualitative studies were 30, and 400 as a good sample size for quantitative studies. The most popular techniques used to analyse qualitative information were content analysis, thematic analysis and grounded theory. Wherein descriptive statistics analysis and factor analysis were the main techniques to analyse quantitative data.","PeriodicalId":90814,"journal":{"name":"Creative education","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135748670","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigates the antecedents of student psychological well-being within this context, focusing particularly on instrumental support from instructors, students’ academic psychological capital (PsyCap), and school satisfaction. We surveyed Canadian tourism and hospitality students about their pandemic-era online learning experience, using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for data analysis. Our hypotheses were tested on a sample of 88 full-time students who had transitioned to online education, and our survey specifically asked about this online experience. Despite the small sample size, we utilized Partial Least Squares SEM (PLS-SEM), a technique well-suited for small sample sizes when using the SEM model, and confirmed the adequacy of our sample to ensure it met the minimum required sample size for PLS-SEM. Our findings reveal that instrumental support directly boosts students’ academic PsyCap—encompassing confidence, hope, optimism, and resilience. While instrumental support does not directly enhance school satisfaction, its total effect, mediated through academic PsyCap, is significant. Additionally, while instrumental support does not directly heighten psychological well-being, the mediation role of academic PsyCap is crucial. Our study thus underscores the importance of nurturing academic PsyCap to foster student satisfaction and well-being in digital learning environments. Furthermore, we validate that academic PsyCap influences both school satisfaction and psychological well-being. As such, universities should consider investing in programs that strengthen students’ psychological resources, ultimately enhancing their satisfaction and overall well-being, especially during online learning post-pandemic.","PeriodicalId":90814,"journal":{"name":"Creative education","volume":"151 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135211067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
