Il ne demande rien moins que d'eliminer 21 versets: c'est plus qu'il ne faut pour ebranler et faire crouler sa these. Que nos Saints Livres nous parlent d'une alliance entre Dieu et le peuple d'Israel et que pour signifier et de quelque maniere caracteriser l'union entre Yahve et son peuple, nos Saints Livres se servent de l'image ou de l'allegorie du mariage: nul doute a ce sujet. Three „phases” are indicated: the traditional idea of truth as Heidegger sees it; truth as disclosure and unconcealedness; and concealedness as an essential trait of truth. The traditional conception of truth, according to Heidegger, is adequation which is understood as exactness of knowledge. This idea of truth is the result of rationalistic and subjectivistic thought. Truth is, therefore, the adequation of subjective knowledge with the essence of beings. A certain interpretation of the belief in creation has promoted this idea of truth because it was considered as an agreement of the created ratio with the ideas which God has realized in the spatio-temporal beings. This interpretation of truth as adequation is more or less derived from Plato's thought which made it possible to understand the truth as homoiosis through a substantiation of the eidos. But the truth as adequation refers inwardly to the ...","PeriodicalId":80655,"journal":{"name":"Bijdragen tijdschrift voor filosofie en theologie","volume":"30 1","pages":"230-256"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-01-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.1080/00062278.1969.10596877","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"58767077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The background is given in his vision on the doctrinal development, that characterizes the history of the church. The idea of Christianity is anchored in the believing community. There it unfolds its full reality. Later on, when there arise serious dangers for the Roman church in England, it is Newman, who puts his trust in the people, the faithful. Among them the religious truth comes to life. But they should be well instructed, able to justify themselves. This is a normal claim of society. A broad culture of mind is indispensable. It is quite natural, that Newman conceives sympathy for the “Rambler”. Here he meets laymen at work, who take their task seriously. As man, as citizen, as believer. But Newman has some reserves. He is opposed to every form of dilettantism. On a theological level a thorough formation is a necessity. Is the subject of the infinitives “you” or “we” or both together? Should we understand the SMM-elements in these two infinitives as meaning “together”, or must we suply (with) “Christ”? How is the unusual sequence (first to die!) of the infinitives to be explained? Why is there a change of tense: from aorist to present? And what kind of death and life is referred to? The expression is the equivalent of a purpose (or consecutive) clause. Both the context 6,11–13 and 7,2–4 and the fact that the infinitives have no object point in favor of the assumption that “we and you (together)” is the subject. No object need be supplied here, neither “us” nor “you”, but also not “Christ” (against G. Stahlin). The expression goes back to the language of love, friendship and service. As such, it certainly emphasizes the reality and intensity of Paul's love for the Corinthians.
