Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is gaining more and more importance day by day. CSR is not only drawing the corporate magnates into its circumference, but is also luring educationists, social activists, reformists, from all over the world to delve deeper into it. Changing market scenario, globalisation, ethical consumerism all are adding heat to the CSR concept. More and more organisations are showing their commitments towards CSR either for enhancing their corporate image or to be in competition. Emergence of different marketing innovations demands direct linkage of CSR practices with the business corporate strategies. The paper concludes that social responsibility is regarded as an important business issue of Indian companies irrespective of size, sector and business goal. Therefore, CSR actions have positive impacts not only on development of rural community but also in their business. The authors reveal some lesson on CSR practices in India which can provide guidance to corporate entities for better implementation of CSR activities.","PeriodicalId":80241,"journal":{"name":"Training and development journal","volume":"3 1","pages":"50-56"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75897175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to measure the Locus of Control, a 29-item Locus of Control questionnaire (Rotter, 1966) was used. A total sample of 100 was selected from different post-graduate academic institutes of city of Pune in India. To study these two variables an independent t-test was used. This study had considerable results with the earlier studies in the literature. The conclusion of the research was that men have higher internal Locus of Control and women scored high on external Locus of Control. Also students who have prior work experience indicate higher external Locus of Control than the students without any prior work experience in the post-graduate college. So the gender difference and the work experience had a significant effect on the Locus of Control. Implications of these findings and suggestions for future researches are discussed.","PeriodicalId":80241,"journal":{"name":"Training and development journal","volume":"5 1","pages":"93-98"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88776977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The successful management of change is crucial to any organisation in order to survive and succeed in the present highly competitive and continuously evolving business environment. However, theories and approaches to change management currently available to academics and practitioners are often contradictory, mostly lacking empirical evidence and supported by unchallenged hypotheses concerning the nature of contemporary organisational change management. The statistical society contains all employees and heads participating in the training courses of municipality of district Two of Tehran between years 2008 and 2011 and the statistical sample included 282 persons selected by the simple random sampling method. The tools for gathering data of questionnaire and interview have been semi-structured one for employees and the semi-structured questionnaire and interview for the heads. The data gathered was analysed by taking advantage of single-group t statistical methods and independent groups for quantitative part and the Categorisation method was analysed based on the frequency for the qualitative sector. The results showed that the status of transfer of training for employees of Tehran municipality is at an average to high level. Also, the findings of the research indicate that both personal and organisational elements have a crucial role to play in transferring training and the most important obstacles identified for this issue was high amount of work and inappropriate amount of education for some of the courses.","PeriodicalId":80241,"journal":{"name":"Training and development journal","volume":"3 1","pages":"36-49"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78456644","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A conventional organisational boundary is crossed in the case of CFT which consists of individuals with functional skills work collaboratively on issues requiring diverse resources. CFTs help the company to obtain multiple opinions from different individuals and help to increase in customer satisfaction and the ability to help customers by improving integration, coordination and problem solving. CFTs enable the employees to work in other departments to lower labour costs and increase efficiency and flexibility within the company. The most common problem faced by the teams in an organisation is lack of openness, trust, cooperation and leadership, due to which the sound functioning of the CFTs are at stake. Therefore, in order to understand the effectiveness of functioning of CFTs, a study was carried out in Puravankara Projects Ltd. Findings state that the CFT building at Puravankara Projects Ltd. is very effective, and employees feel job satisfied, motivated at work, committed and involved. The study has proposed the CFT building model for Puravankara Projects Ltd. Selection of members from different departments who have a mix of skills, expertise and the prescription of their roles, and responsibilities has to be given for the successful functioning of CFTs.","PeriodicalId":80241,"journal":{"name":"Training and development journal","volume":"3 1","pages":"145-156"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87730234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As per UGC annual report, women enrolment in the higher education stood at 41.5% of the total enrolment in 2010–2011. It is obvious, a major chunk of this statistics is gearing up for the work force participation. In addition to this, media has paid an increasing attention towards the work-family conflict in case of working women and mostly working mothers. Here we want to explore the motivation and readiness of women career aspirants for their future work-family challenge. We have surveyed (n = 100) female management students, who intended to work, through questionnaires. Seeing the age and experience of the participants, we have kept both close and open-ended questions. The data has been analysed using content analysis. We found a significant influence of mass media information on the work family plan of these female management students. The knowledge of real world work family challenge was very poor in this sample and mostly revolved around ‘time ’as the basic constrain behind all problems. The readiness for future work family challenge could not get judged clearly in this study. This result will be very helpful in designing a chapter or an elective in the management education to generate a proactive behaviour in the career aspirants. This study has been done in a specific geographical location. Cultural influence cannot be ignored in this context. This study might result different in other regions and could trace other influential factors.","PeriodicalId":80241,"journal":{"name":"Training and development journal","volume":"13 1","pages":"27-35"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87734492","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
